Steve, one of the great things I like about your videos as opposed to others is that when you do make a mistake you also show a quick way to fix or hide it. No project is ever perfect and it's refreshing to see that even someone who's been doing this for a while messes up too. Thanks for all the hard work.
I love how you don't edit out your mistakes, almost makes you seem human.

All the cells in your body get replaced every seven years apparently, so you were a completely different person when you made this comment :-)
They won't get dull. Nothing on this chanel could ever get dull!
Love the explanation at the end! Drillbits work perfectly fine if they’re thrown in a bag and they work even better when you can find them
Drill bits have an actual cutting edge in FRONT of them.. That's what does the cutting.. They will never get dull by banging themselves side by side... Great video man, as always !!
Hey, I like it when you make a mistake like that, and then fix it instead of just redoing the whole project, makes it all the more worth while to watch.
My heart stopped when I saw you cutting the wrong side! I really like when you fix errors instead of throwing stuff to the garbage. Thanks for sharing!
Hey Steve. My wife, Liza and I are keen woodworkers in Durban, South Africa. Your videos are hilarious, entertaining, informative, inspirational and so real. We both love what you're doing! Don't ever stop!
I honestly thought you were going to stop and make a new box just because of that mistake, so glad you didn't! fixing problems with a smile on your face is so much better than being annoyed at the problem in the first place. Reminds me of the Japanese lamp project ;)
I like how you showed your mistakes. Too many other how-to videos give us the "Here's one I prepared earlier" routine. Often, mistakes are as important to learn from as getting it right every time. Thanks for sharing this!
I am new to woodworking and this is exactly what I was looking for. My husband's plastic drill bit case broke and I will be making him a new one for Christmas. Thanks so much. And, your video was really fun to watch.
love the fact that you always happy to show your mistakes ! the guy that never made a mistake never made anything
The difference between a good carpenter and a bad one is a good one knows how to fix his mistakes
I like the bandaid on the finger too. This is reality! Roy Underhill on PBS was always bleeding too. If you work with tools, something's gonna happen sooner or later. Love your stuff Steve.
Steve, Thank you for not editing out the "accidental" changes you made to the overal design. As a new woodworker it help keep me calm when issues like this araise in my projects! Thanks for the video
Fantastic video and fantastic channel. The home building shows never show their mistakes, but there are always things to learn from them. This video contains a great example of how to think through one of those mistakes and recover gracefully. Nicely done, Steve!
Love this weeks project inspiring as usual. As for the design opportunity you could always rebrand it as a Greene & Greene inspired drill organiser.
That is why we don't throw away scrap wood. You'll never know when it might come in handy. Awesome work Steve!
There's no such thing as mistakes in woodworking, only unintended design changes ; ) Great video!
Steve, I love your show... I spend all week waiting for Friday so I can learn and be entertained... I plan on being a supporter soon. If anyone deserves it you do... Thanx for all you do.
I love how you show what can go wrong, and how to fix it, thats the golden stuff :)
Hey! You store your drill bits the same way I do! Gonna make this one today thanks ☺
You know I love this drill bit case. I will build one like it soon to put all my bits in. It will be perfect, down to the walnut inlay on one side, so that I can copy yours. Why? Because I really appreciate someone who is not afraid to show he makes mistakes, and I will honor that the best way I can. When my friends ask me about, I will of course tell them it is a very important feature that a very wise, but approachable master craftsman showed me once.
Really appreciate the humor in your videos! thanks for the neat videos and making them fun to watch!
I just made this as my first serious wood working project, the last coat of lacquer spray is drying up as I type this. I saw this video over a year ago and always wanted to get around to doing it but never had a table saw up until a week ago. Thank you so much for the inspiration and showing the mistakes you make that make you human, they truly help
First, nice inlay. Secondly, great vid. Love the way it all came together. Love the touch of comedy in your vids.
Steve... I am so glad to see even you make mistakes... I don't know how many times I have cut the angle on the wrong side or not flipped it and cut it... I love the drill bit holder. I dont think the bits are going to get dull. Unless you play in a band and shake to give tempo! Looked great!
Awesome! Thank you so much! I am hoping to start shipping posters in a week or so. I'm still trying to figure everything out.
And now a box for ROUTER bits! Great vid as always. Thanks for that.
I agree with your comment on putting drills back in those off the shelf boxes, its a pain in the ass, this type of box i can use...
Hey Steve I just want to say I love you man I do all kinds of crafts and I mean everything from sewing up to woodworking it doesn't matter and I got to say you are my favorite subscription on KZread. Well I should say prescription because I am addicted and you are to blame!
The elegant inlay was simple yet genius.
I love this little storage box!
This show was awesome.
Definately one of the most beatiful projects you've made lately!
Ever since i saw your channel iv learned alot but never really had any tools. Well today i own a few tools but am limited to how much i can have in an apartment. Idk where to put them. Soon in a shed but for now. Ill be able to do some small pronects youv made aince i dont have has much room as you. Keep it up. I admire your work every much.
I love the “elegant inlay” you did! Box looks great!!
I absolutely loved this video! Loved your explanations along the way, and how you showed and handled the "elegant inlay". And how you remembered you needed those shapings in the slats for reaching easily. It's a great project also because its versatile and inspires to make any box really. Thanks! :-)
Awesome Steve, I'm glad you kept that mistake in there lol.
That really turned out excellent! I like how your overall message is aimed at the casual woodworker. Go out, try something and learn - but have fun and relax while working on your project! Very well done series Steve!
That is by far the best description of how I work :)
It's so hard not to support you financially, even if the projects aren't built, your positivity, sense of humour and creativity seems to motivate me in ways I don't eeven understand! You will get my support through subbable without any hesitation!! Jeep up the outstanding work and indirect motivation. Noel, South Australia
This one is one of my favortes now!
I Loved it. You know, the added inlay could also be a clever disguise for a piece that adds strength or a is unique trademark that's prevents copying or theft, etc.
Thank you Steve for showing 'Real' mistakes... they Happen. Would be easy to edit out, but then it would be less Real. Us imperfect woodworkers appreciate your honesty, vetted or not. ;-) Its fun to make expensive firewood.... when you Learn along the way.
Ur honesty about imperfections and the way things work best for you is refreshing and comforting for amateurs like me 👍 great videos
Just made one myself and it is a lot harder when you only have hand tools, but still a lot of fun and I am very happy with the final result.
Steve, you kill me... I so look forward to you weekly posts..
You are so awesome! I think this is my new favorite channel! I love wood working, but I've never owned any tools until recently. I finally have the ability to build things and I'm so happy I found your channel to inspire me and motivate me to create amazing stuff! Thank you!
Really really good job Steve. Its amazing the simplicity men ! Tanks for sharing
Hello Steve. My greetings are sent to you from Greece. Well I ve been watching your videos almost a month now and I am telling you that you are true supportive to my little woodworking in my free time. So keep it up, I enjoy watching you and learning from you! Love your workshop!
I'm always amazed at your work.
Just take your time & do what you have to do to get it right. With this big of an undertaking you need to be sure of evereything you're doing. Im sure your going in 50 different directions all at once, I really hope that this is a huge success for you. I've already picked the spot in my shop where the poster is going to hang. Good Luck my friend.
delicate inlay... that's awesome!!
I love this video. I have a shop and my bits are not organized like this. This is a great box for putting my drill bits in. Thank you very much Steve. Mike Brady
you're GREAT (from Italy). you have got always something of simple and magic. WOW
Quick, easy and simple. always enjoy your shows.
Love the inlay. I have cut many boxes using the same technique.
Great job, I like your honesty when making your videos.
A great looking little box, I especially like the inlay 👍
Thanks for another great and yet simple project!
Turned out better than I expected, great job Steve! :D
Awesome. I am officially going to make 2 one for drills and a slightly larger for chisels. Thanks for another inspiring video
What amazing tools you have... Very nice projects!
Hi Steve I totally agree with the drill bits I just keep mine in a big box and they bang around in there and they are fine
Yes!!! I agree as I am going to build a bed soon!
Man its a great work! Thanks.
100% agree with you! keep on going woodworkin Guru! Thank you very much for your fun n´ work!
Fancy overload!
Great job Steve. Loved the "elegant inlay"...
Another awesome video. Thanks Steve.I'm the same way when it comes to drill bits, and THEY too still make holes...cheers
Man, I gotta say I love your videos! Thanks for posting these- I know it takes a lot of time and effort! You rock!
I love watching your videos Steve
my favorite projects of yours are when you make small boxes :)
Great video Steve! I was going to ask about the start too. There was no intro or anything. Caught me off guard. I am so thankful that you don't try to edit out mistakes or redo things. You show us how to fix them and move on. Sign of an excellent teacher and humble attitude! Thanks again!
Aweosme!! love everything you make... and made a cutting board like yours!
Great project Steve, well done!
Love the workshop, So clean and organized.. LOVE IT !! keep up the goo d work
GREAT IDEA STEVE!!
Love IT!!!
I love your argumentation chain to explain why the drills can touch each others...lol! Go on with your blog and videos. Its worth enjoying!
Good to see you took up my suggestion of splitting boxes after making, nice inlay btw ;)
Steve, will you make a tool box/chest? I'd like to see that. Not like a hand carry one but like a mechanic style with drawers. I know that's a big project but it would be very cool. Love the drill bit box by the way.
Great video, I even let out an audible "umf!" when I saw you make the bad cut. This is why I watch your videos Steve, they're entertaining as well as informative. That is the type of mistake I've made 100 times. Thanks for a good laugh and a great project!
Awesome. Love it. I made a similar small project to hold my grandsons 1/8 size hit rods. They are about 3x bigger than match box cars. He's 3 and loves it. Small projects are the best, sometimes. Next, i build him his own tools plus tool bix
Cool container!!
cool box. great idea. thanks
That's really great. I think we have all had that "I've cut the wrong side" sinking feeling BUT it was fixed :D so all cool. Thanks!
That inlay looks so good I would have put it in the front.
I really like this guy !
i love ur videos, are funy, grative and very useful, thanks
I love all your videos, I love building stuff from wood, I cant wait to try this. I have the same problem, i have 20 sets of drill bits, not one of them is full. I can just throw them all together and see how long that lasts, lol. Thanks Steve for the video.
Your miter sled looks interesting - gotta watch a rerun. Thanks for posting!
Brilliant 👏🏼
I really like these organization videos
Steve this is a great project. I think I am going to make one to day! Keep up the great videos.
I love you comments on drill bits...if I buy a nice set with 20 or 30 holes in the holder...after a week or two I have 3 or 4 holes empty. I usually give up after a couple months.
Greetings from Ukraine, Steve! Thanks for your videos. I found a lot of useful tips & tricks for me.
I like this idea! I might have to try it on a larger scale.
oh~~ very simple....good job
