Major upgrades for our Protogen [#2]
We add foam ears and attach our visor to the protogen head we made last episode. The head is starting to really look like something now, the black paint really makes it pop. If you have any question about making your own protogen fursuit feel free to ask

I have two 3D printers, I'm working on printing mine at the moment, I have printer experience and computer hardware/software experience, so the board and lights and making of the head itself are well within my skill set. But your videos are definitely going to be my go to for the fur applications and making ears and such >.< I'm taking the lazy approach and just printing the frame in my color of choice, and I plan on sanding and clear coating it to save time over painting it.

good luck! Printing your ears does make it a little easier but you know how 3D printers can be, nothing with them is ever as simple as you want lol

@@WafflesDoesArt Thanks! I eventually want to do a mini series on my build honestly. Facts haha, it is why I have two printers, usually one is down and the other is working while still being a pain in the bum. I had debated printing my ears, but decided to do LED claws for my suit instead via printer, and do ears the traditional way, with the rest of the body. >.< I've only ever done steampunk until recently, so this whole project is new ground for me to break. Even printing bigger objects is a new learning curve. I have a Voxelab Aquila and an Aquila C2 by the way, both pretty heavily upgraded by now.

@@NebulousProtogen Hey, I noticed that you had 3D printers? I have a couple too, and the one I use all the time is the Biqu B1. It's been super nice, and the reason I'm saying anything about it is because it's been super easy to use and I haven't had almost any issues in the year or so I have had it, so if you ever plan on getting another printer, or are wanting to replace a printer you have, I would recommend that one. There's another called the Biqu B1 SE plus, which is basically the B1's bigger brother, and has a larger build volume and ABL sensors. I haven't used that one before, but if it's anything like the B1, I would also highly recommend it.

As a protogen myself, I would call that triangle piece the "Ear Wing" but idk, I never really looked far into the terminology and biology of the proto. These tutorials are really cool btw! I recently got into electronics and my dad has a few 3d printers (he promised he would give me one when we had space) so this will probably be a good project for me! Can't say it will turn out good, but I will definitely try! You deserve more love/attention on here honestly.

It could also be antennas, lowered to be out of the way. Not 100% sure but an idea!

@@PlutonicSum that's a cool idea, still haven't studied it since I made this comment tho lmao
I'm really excited to see how this turns out! On the next one, could you go in depth on your process for how you're learning to do electronics?

That's the plan!
Amazing work! Love the idea of fans in the ears as the foam padding of the ears look great as well!
I personally like that it’s shorter cause now it’s actually unique it be cool if they made different shaped visors ngl
I believe the circular piece on the sides of the head are called "cheek plates" (or side panels?) and the triangles attached are called fins. (I checked Cool Koinu's protogen guide as I was curious too!) Overall, I love how the protogen is looking so far. It's really coming together!

@@WafflesDoesArt Haha thanks! Glad I could help.
As soon as that Outer Wilds music started playing, I became extra comfy, so it seems watching these is gonna be the rest of my night.
This is very cool if I’m gonna be any type of furry this would be it
I love the videos! Perfect for building up experience for making my own proto! Although magnets are a cool feature, I think a hinge like for the visor sounds real cool as well, again, love the vids!
I love this! Amazing work, my guy!
These videos show that we, furries, are very creative and hard-working people!
Awww what a cute cat u have!!!!😍😍😍😍😍❤❤❤
That’s incredible
love it
He really does look like that mannequin busy on his desk there
Didn’t know you had a KZread channel! Great shit Waffles
The triangle on the visor is called a fin

I love and I like too looking good Job 👍❤️🙂
Pretty sure the triangle ear piece thingy is often referred to as a fin. Not sure if it has much use other than aesthetic or maybe an antenna.
I love this, and your work is amazing! but I have a question?, where did you get the fans for the head from?
Protogen
Where did you get the fans and the paint? Im losing my mind trying to find it on google lol
Awesome job so far. You've inspired me to make a head of my own and have the parts on the way! Would you mind posting what fans you found? Love the idea of hiding them in the ears!

I thought it was called the cheek plate? Or the earphones?
I've never done this, but I recommend (if you have the option on your hot glue gun) to turn its heat to low.
Do you think it would be possible to use multiple tiny projectors combined with mirror and lenses to have high resolution projection on the face?
I would like to see swiper form Dora or boots or scooby doo or chuck E cheese as a suit

life lesson: never wing it on a protogen or at times it will make you mad and want to quit

@@WafflesDoesArt yes, I just have a simple printer so it can be to big, it also can’t print to long because the print will slip, but Ty for the advice, will try. :)
Are you gonna use some basic Matrixes or are you gonna go for a different coloured ones? something like Aliexpress sells quite a bit of red blue and green ones, but adafruit I know sells colours like orange and white. Also are you just doing your normal code or some premade Proto_OS, just asking because these videos are really helpful and id like to implement some of the stuff into my future proto

I have two adafruit RGB matrixes right now, they should work. I have not looked into the code a ton yet but I'm planning on doing it myself. I think most of them use Python so hopefully that's easy lol
