Building A Protogen From Scratch [#1]
How to build the frame for a protogen fursuit head, in this episode of fursuit from scratch we start building a new project. I've been wanting to make a protogen for a while and we need to start out by making the frame for the head. With this we can attach the fur, electronics and visor.

To assemble the parts together you could also have heated the rivets with a soldering iron so, that they melt into the plastic of the base. You would then have added glue to the other pieces. It would have avoided weakening the part by drilling inside.

I tried this approach after having issues with drilling and getting the holes to line up. Heating the rivets with a soldering iron didn't really have an affect. Direct contact with the soldering iron would melt the plastic, but that would just widen the hole rather than fuse the rivet to the plastic.
This couldnt have been more perfectly timed. I was just starting to research how to make a proto head!!!!

@Firefox4hire overall it is good, however I am not a fan of just how heavy this specific head is, I would recommend one of the heads instead from coela can't. The epsilon one is actually one I'm looking at rebuilding in atm.
i don't know anything about furries and stuff but it's really cool that you're able to make this from scratch
The start to an exciting new series! So excited to follow along and see the final result.
in the past this is what originally helped me decide to be become a furry, so good job to u
My best friend wants to do this and I'm going along with it cause I have nothing to do in the meantime. Also this will be our project from now to the end. Your work inspired the both of us
Toaster approves :3
Aaa so exciting to see you starting a new project! Can’t wait to watch along :3
I love this ❤️ best diy protogen head I've seen In a while
I think protogens are my favourite!! I love this channel so it’s going to be a great watch
Nice work! I'm excited to follow along and see how the finished product turns out.
Cool 😎 protogen had good Job 👍❤️
I haven't been interested in protogens. But this is definitely interesting. I love seeing fursuit building :3
Gentle reminder to all to use particle and vapor PPE ! Stay safe ❤
I have a Kaiborg too. Really like how it turned out. Excited to see what you do c:
Yay my favorite youtouber gonna make a fursuit and also I'm gonna start making my first fursuit!

4:26 OMG STARDEW VALLEY MUSIC😭♥️
Automotive furry here they make filler primer that’s meant to fill in sanding lines I’ve used it on 3d prints before after sanding and it works really well
lovign the stardew valley music
I wanna try and use this as a tutorial sometime
5:10 maybe razor blades? They cut through plastic like a charm and speed things up. Just be careful, you might remove a bit too much plastic, or a chunk of your hand.
When he was sanding the jaw it looked like he was playing violin 😅
Why did I have to make my protogen so damn unique? Now all the premade parts don’t fit my protos aesthetic
I love your work! :) but I have a question.. is it safe at all to buy the base kit from kaiborg studios???
holy shit i did it after a year
I want to eat that bondo stuff
I cannot find this Kit on their web-site :( Are there alternatives, or self-make guides that demostrates how to 3D print this, and create the plastic glass nose?
@WafflesDoesArt

you can 3D print the base yourself and vacuform the visor
@Pix3lWyrm

@@WafflesDoesArt That is what I am leaning towards. I would probably just buy the visor from someone else the first round, but I would like to 3D print my own visor design around that. However, finding 3D printing templates for this would be a huge shortcut! :)

Do I need to use resin or does FDM work just as good?

FDM works too, but you should sand it, to even the surface out

Quite ironically i dont think proto suits look all that hard to make, cause with regular ones you need to learn how to cut foam for the foundation. But with a protogen fursuit the foundation is 3d printed and the furring and adding of foam will be the easy ish part. Idk if im wrong here cause i have no experience but feel free to prove me wrong
