In terms of measured time I honestly know but even 8 years ago I (English man) was in conversation with a German man & French man understood that despite much history of wars between our countries if not our kids then certainly our grandkids would all be fighting on the same side as they'd all be against the western governments. It is coming, it is inevitable & (don't be surprised if some politicians go the way of Mussolini) that is why all western governments are importing foreigners to be used against their own populations; it's (sadly) becoming plausible that even my 85 year old disabled father may live to see it happen.

A somewhat crass comment …… the revenue income goes into the coffers of the Treasury and invariably used to subsidise the waste in the likes of the MOD, NHS, illegal migrant accommodation and welfare and many other government controlled institutions where seriously overpaid management teams prove beyond all reasonable doubt their position is way beyond their capability. To suggest it goes into the pockets of politicians I’m guessing was the punch line to a joke. When Labour take the keys to No10 it will increase way beyond anyone’s imagination. We are in for a bumpy ride, invest in a quality seat belt and sit tight.

Its currently 54% for petrol, 52% for diesel (fuel duty plus VAT) so nowhere near 80%. Besides, the £25B raised on fuel duty (alone) goes to the Treasury for general government spending, without that other taxes like Income or VAT would have to be raised to recover those funds.

the law change is literally just reassigning how large pickup trucks are classified for tax purposes, the change would actually allow tradesmen and companies to claim tax back on vehicles while reducing the amount of oversized vehicles that sneak through tax loopholes (a problem covered by the channel "not just bikes")

Easy targets

Most rural areas of the entire UK have very poor public transport or none at all. If people cannot afford cars then the government are effectively condemning some people to DEATH. Many older people are incapable of cycling or walking long distances.

Double Cab Pickup Vehicles are now off the list for the Preparedness minded Bug Out Vehicles in the UK. Might just end up using a push bicycle with a BOB Trailer in tow as my electric bicycle is already illegal along with many items I would Bug out with.

@@Please_allow_memake plans now mate, I have done so myself. Buying a place in Columbia we’ve just paid to rent for 12 months first though to put us in a better place to commit to an area we like. It’s not perfect, but it’s not the U.K.

If you google road tax it says that road tax does not go on roads it goes on anything but roads,so as i see it as another way to rob the working class,i think we should call sunak the sherife of nottingham,and hope a robin hood comes along😊

I remember when there was a pay freeze, so Companies began to give perks such as Company cars, private health etc. Of course, Gordon Brown got his sticky fingers on these and started to tax them as BIK. He also incentivised Diesel cars and also driving higher mileages. The more miles you did in your Company car, the less tax you paid. Very green. If you own a car, you're stuffed.

There is a large number on the road i smell BS i am on the road all the time for work and i do not recall ever seen a double cab pickup the only ones i have seen are on worksites been used to move workers and tools around.

Impacts on a tiny section of society....

Taxation, for road users, should be based upon the miles you crank up and the weight of your vehicle, the two things that add to road wear……and that tax should pay for road repairs, new roads, road drainage, gritting and maintenance, not the back pockets of the gov.

I have rs3 8p 2011 that road tax I £370 a year for a old car car engine that size in the 90’s was £150 / £170 a year so shows government are robbing ass wipes
