    Yeah I don't see how that's surprising especially in this day and age. Everyone's constantly judging everyone else while at the same time being super insecure of who they really are, and social media only magnifies it b/c it's so easy for anyone to write a snide comment on the internet whether they realize a famous person will read it or not. It's one of the most basic parts of our humanity. You won't escape it no matter what your career is and ESPECIALLY b/c their careers are in the spotlight.

    Last week I watched Sophie’s Interview with Dr. Phil and was shocked about her struggles with her mental health and what she went trough the last years without anyone knowing about it. Now here I am watching Maisie being her real self and showing how nervous and anxious she is but still opening up and just tell her story is so brave and empowering of her. I never thought that those hilarious and confident looking girls went through dark years and feelings that I can so much relate to. What they’re are doing is way more powerful than they think. Just listening to someone else’s story and struggles and what they felt helps to feel somehow understood and less alone with your own struggles you thought no one could really understand. Thank you 💜

    I commented this already haha, but I'm putting this here in the chance you might see it! Woa that was amazing. Thank you Maisie for sharing all of that. Some of it really, really resonated with me. It went deep! And hearing it from you, I guess you do have a big voice atm because of your work, and I'm just really grateful that you and the likes of Sophie Turner have used it to open up about mental health, despite the difficulty in it. What you said about what makes you feel like you have value, that really hit home. And I feel the same, and have similar struggles, but making good connections with people, to me is such a good description of the core. Of the human condition. Ok wow, that was a spiel and a half, love what you did here, thank you!!! xx

  • @GreyDoofus88

    @GreyDoofus88

    It was certainly inspiring to see you step out of your shell and say those things. But it escapes my understanding as to why you would judge yourself so harshly. Perhaps it's down to trying to find some form of balance between pride and humility, which can be quite challenging most of the time, especially for you and your fellow GoT colleagues who are like a family to you, even after the show has finished. Or it could also be down to the negative comments you have received from people who are envious of your successful achievements throughout your life so far. People who are lost, afraid and more often than not harbour aggression toward themselves, because they realise how vulnerable they are whenever they are or feel alone. I wish could find my own strength and courage to do the things that I desire, as you have continued to do so. But I too am also mired by my self doubts and harsh words to the point where I just sit idly by in a state of agonising silence. Though I'm taking part in a local comedy club, which is a good start for me. I figured if anyone can do it, then surely I could do so as well. The problem is I have trouble maintaining my composure and articulating myself, especially when I'm trying to think of things to say which could be interpreted as either humourous or offensive. Putting myself in a position where everyone is looking at me, expecting me to be a source of entertainment, is even more challenging than what I thought it would be. But I have learned that these things come with time and patience. For instance, the last comedy night I took part in my local pub... I was rambling about how Donald Trump pretty much decided to rename "Independence Day" by calling it "A Salute to America" Day. I said if that's the case we may as well rename as Easter as "Salute to cuddling Chickens and Rabbits, and sugar overdose (due to excessive consumption of chocolate eggs)." Halloween should be "Salute to evil spirits, nightmarish creatures and... sugar overdose (from candy). Finally skipping Christmas and going straight to Valentines Day (🤮) "Salute to Alcoholism, heartbreak, intercourse and... you guessed it... sugar overdose".

    I see so much of myself in what Maisie has said. Anxiety, self-loathing, the lot of it. The way she has spoken about how she has moved on from her bad habits and how she is still working on them is so inspiring. I’ve always measured my self worth with my achievements and what others think of me, but my crippling anxiety has left me with a small voice and feeling like I’m incapable. So seeing Maisie as someone who is so much like I am but is still able to power through it and be good at what she does is amazing. She works with her anxiety instead of covering it up or ignoring it and that is something I have never tried to do. Also, I watched her Ted Talk and thought it was brilliant, never once noticed a hiccup that wasn’t endearing. Watch it if you haven’t already. :)

    This was so great. I think most people just ask celebrities thoughtless questions about their characters, but I think what they really want is for people to ask them about THEM and their own feelings. You did that and it turned out so amazing and raw. They can get vulnerable because they can sense someone actually cares. Shows that fame, money, and being a fearless character on a show doesn’t make them invincible. Well done, and bravo!

Because Maisie has inspired me and has connected with me. I can’t tell any of you enough how much an interview like this does for me. I feel like I was in that room, and it was one of the most serene and reassuring things I have ever experienced. I’ve been imaging a lot of bad things recently and it was nice to have a break and I just imagined my self on the other side of the room sitting in a chair, mouthing to Maisie “you’re doing great” . And when she forgot what her friend said, that happens to me so much and it scares me. I want to try a million things and I just need to do it. I hate feeling stuck.

I think most of us can empathize with these sorts of mental issues. Which is kinda sad when you think about it - so many people feeling these emotions. So many people hating themselves for no good reason. Hearing her talk about it made me realize that I am one of those people as well to some extent. But I think we should talk about it and realize that we feel those emotions.

    I'm about the same age, and I think I might know how. When something goes horribly wrong in your life for a long time, but on the surface it looks great, eventually you will start to realize that the source is yourself. Or in her case, a friend helped her reach that. You will then try very hard to understand yourself and desperately try to figure a way out. I think her awareness of self came initially like mine did, from a desperate attempt to save herself. Ultimately all the pain just ended up deepening self understanding. She must have already realized how strong she really is. That's why she says empathy is her superpower, I think. It is a strength to be able to bear deep emotions, and one you can't find without experience.

    I have never watched a single episode of Game of Thrones, and also Maisie's TED talk I have yet to watch (next), but from this isolated perspective, knowing nothing but what is said in the interview, I see massive parallels between Maisie's experience and what Robbie Williams went through. LOVE her bravery in coming out about this insecurity, anxiety, disconnection etc., LOVE her shedding the mask and LOVE how you, Lewis, are gently assisiting, sitting with it with her, listening, affirming, just opening up the room for her to be herself at her own pace. This ich could have never happened with the typical "lemme fix this forya" attitude that most guys almost automatically resort to when faced with a crying girl, if they even allow for so much awkwardness in the first place. You, Sir, are pretty amazing.

    Maisie is such a brave woman! thanks for being so vulnerable and share your story with the world and also for answering those hard questions. At some point, I even thought that Lewis went too far with some of his questions but she answered them anyway. This is definitely a conversation that we all should listen.

    I can so completely relate to the anxiety issues and feelings of low self worth, and yet working through it anyway and being stronger for it. Honestly, a lot of the interview you could have sat me there, saying the same words, and it would seem logical I'd be saying that to people who know me. So thankful that Maisie did this interview!!! You help more people than you know by sharing and letting people see you as you are. Wishing you all the best (as well as the best for my girl ARYA ;) ).

    I went through a very similar process of individuation and finding myself in the past year. Learning what my defence mechanisms feel like and why they spring up, how to set healthy boundaries, take care of myself, and have faith in myself and others. I'm also 21 turning 22, what a coincidence! It is incredibly, incredibly validating to know that I'm in good company going through all of this. Thank you Maisie and Lewis for this interview.

    This is so strong and so powerful, first of all thank you both, for opening up that way, it´s important to embrace that vulnerability and use it to make you stronger. I cried so much, but it was because I felt every word so much. Maissie, I really wish I can say to you how strong and beautiful you are, for us, young woman and especially artist, hearing this testimony is so special, and you are so special, and inspiring. This is a great interview, congrats, and thanks again. I kind of needed this and I did even knew it.

    Very powerful interview! I've always admired Maisie with good reason. I've watched her Ted Talk and was blown away, but this interview shows the struggle that she has had and the progress she has made! It broke my heart to see her cry, but it is good that she is able to let it out and heal. Her Ted Talk theme was that the 15 minutes of fame is fleeting, but creativity and talent carry you throughout your life. Her life is a true inspiration. Maisie is amazing. Thank you so much for making this interview.
