@@drankyodrank Some of them are heavyweights. A heavyweight is just a big cruiserweight that doesn't cut weight. Although many modern heavyweights are super heavyweights. I wonder what boxing would be like if cutting was banned and everyone had to fight at their walk-around weight.

Cruiser has been the most underrated divison for couple of years now. Always gives amazing fights, but as some people point out, the lack of US boxers makes it being less covered.

Another major factor is that there has always been a big weight gap between cruiserweights and heavyweights, at least 10 pounds.

Cruiserweights are around the size of heavyweights of the 70s. Rehydrated in the ring they ranged from 205-215 lbs on average. A lot of heavyweights there’s days are ~240 lbs and at least 6’4

Don't think the big bucks are necessarily there definitely not immediately like who would he fight there? Europe Africa and the UK are definitely where you'd want to go initially imo the division is stacked in those parts of the world rather than the us

This was a great fight, with absolutely APPALLING commentary. If you just listened to the audio you would think Briedis didn’t have arms.

Highlights of this fight show a pretty bad robbery but if you watch the whole fight (like I did, live even), the right guy clearly won. Briedis did not cope with the southpaw of Jai who did tire in the back half of the fight, Briedis did take over but too little too late. One more round and the fight would have been stopped by the ref or Briedis but that's boxing. Was a great fight though and the highlights do no give it justice. To anyone who thinks this was a robbery, watch the full fight and say that Jai lost.

Looks like Mairis had a hard time getting inside on the southpaw. You can tell Jai’s hero is Usyk. He boxes just like him. Jai just too young and strong for the old veteran.

Opetaia has a mix of Usyk and Joe Calzaghe with a constant peppering from angles that opoen up the guard and add great stamiba he was simply too quick for the batyke worn Breidis.

Only seen these highlights but it looks to me as if operita got the early round points ,some were even almost & then his opponent came home strongly but needed a knock down to catch up.Looked to be a good fight.

One last rant. That announcer was the most cringeworthy moronic ring announcer in boxing history.

Jai could have easily stick and move for the rest of the fight and win easy but he got too comfortable and choose to trade in close quarters and cost him his jaw. Jai will be at the top for a long time.

Хороший бой!Майрис поздно включился,стоило попробовать сразу работу первым номером...а так отдал больше половины боя пытаясь с ним боксировать...но возможно у Опетайи хороший удар,который психологически воздействовал на Майриса,а когда острота удара пропала в связи с усталостью, Бриедис включился...Надо было действовать как в бою с Усиком...прессинг и навязывание драки...

Briedis finished the stronger. For me he was looking to finish the fight. Jai did well to snatch the early rounds. So it is a win for him via points. But I think Mairis looked better.

From this highlight reel alone, it does kinda look like jai was losing to be fair.. 7-12 it looks like he's copping Alot of power.. But highlight reels don't tell the full story.

The score cards was a shit, it was more closer then in the score cards. And it could go either way anywhere else it would be a 50/50 fight. But it was very nice boxing from both of them. Nothing to take away from any of them.

It was 7-5 rounds x 2 which is the closest margin without a draw, without knock downs being a factor and 8-4 x1 not exactly a landslide so 2 judges picked it like you lol

The judges' conclusion gave some gifts to the local boxer. In reality, the fight was 50 to 50. And what is important is that in the second part of the fight it was Briedis who began to dominate, being 10 years older than his opponent. A little more, and Briedis would have sent Opetaia to the knockdown. We are waiting for a rematch!

They’re gonna have a rematch now I think. The first fight was great. I kinda feel like some shone got taken off of Opetais’s win since Bredis closed out stronger. But it takes a lot of character to finish a fight with a jaw that messed up

Usyk fought a prime Mairis Briedis who was active, when he could slip the punches, get on the inside, fight from the outside and who had amazing timing. This is not the same guy here today.

you can see every time mairis went on the inside, jai would sort of give up and not punch, until he jumps back... he is taller than mairis, so next time hopefully in rematch, mairis needs to go on inside rather than hopping back for jai's perfect jabs...i dont know how jai won, these highlights semt both sided and jai fell 2/3 times, mairis fell none, just cause jai stayed active during whole fight whilst mairis started to get tired.. doesnt mean anything... mairis had a bloody nose, cause he has a weak nose, it seems like everytime a fighter breaks or busts his nose, that fighter wins even if mairis performed better... like usyk fight, they have to rematch, if anything this was a draw.

l thing in rematch Briedis would win, considering that Briedis was sick with flue during this fight. Even being sick he managed the last 3 rounds to win, he is like getting second breathe. It’s the same with Usyk vs Briedis last 2 rounds Usyk get outboxed by Briedis and almost loose with only one judge, giving one round more to Usyk.

I don't remember feeling that it was very decisive for Jai... but watching Dwyer's video on the fight, you'd think Jai was the 2nd coming. That being said, for him to gut it out after having his jaw smashed and fractured... you've gotta give him his respect. Briedis sure did after the fight.

Not ending strong because of injuries but he still beat and outsmarted his opponent with those severe injuries letting his hands go, head movements to protect himself from more injuries..he's not an easy guy to beat he's born for this business😊 Breidis was looking desperately for a knock out😀 that would be his only chance of winning but was too little too late🤗
