Hi Dave, thank you for your videos. I appreciate your efforts. I bought a Big Red XP as well, about a year ago, and for the most part have been thoroughly impressed. I do, however, wish I could talk to someone about why wavy cuts and climbing\diving blades seem to be an issue sometimes. I realize the importance of a sharp blade. And blade tension. And as far as I'm able to tell, everything is square and running level. Just baffles me that sometimes it wants to go up or down.

Yes nothing more frustrating then that!!! There is a lot of reason for it, I struggled with it more in the beginning then now. Now the main reason it will do it is when the blade is dulling and cutting a wide board. The same blade will cut through a large amount of thinner boards before the same problem occurs. I have even had a brand new blade (never used) go wavy, no amount of tension or width of log would help, switching to another blade and it was perfect. Blade tension is key, always take tension off when not in use, add a bit more tension every hour or so of cutting, be consistent with your speed of feed, to be honest at first I was just to slow, and it helps some what to keep the guides as close to the log as possible. Hope that helps.

Great video Dave! I too purchased a Little Blue mill from Darrell right about the same time as you. Great service and a good guy to deal with. You made great points on the benefits of these mills.... the simple drive system, the auto lube system.. again simple and functional without proprietary parts... just air hose components... Love the plywood cover too... yes, my mill has cover tattoos as well.. LOL Threw 5 or blades before I realized I had a kinked drive belt.... As to the quality of construction.... I flipped the mill on its side after parking it on soft uneven ground, rolled the saw head right off the tracts, sitting upside down... lifted it back on with the tractor and cut exactly as the first cut.. perfectly... A manual might have warned me not to have the saw head elevated or locked in travel mode.... Thanks for the informative video.. I too used a mallet to slide the follower wheel...and have the exact same paint chip... Glad you pointed out just depressing the blade..

Thanks! That's a super good point about keeping the power head down during any moving!! Hoping you have gotten more hours on it then I have!! Again thanks for comment.

Hey Dave, you mentioned that you threw blades in the first five hours. Do you know why you were throwing blades? Thank

operator error, as without paying attention to my hand I found my self hitting the winch button and moving the blade up during cutting
