@@brokkelynxx580 It all comes down to two things: the quality of the director and the quality of the actors. I don't speak Japanese at even a weeb level, but I can still tell the acting in Overlord is superb, and although the Japanese voice actors did a really good job too, the English voice actors for Van Helsing were absolutely excellent. Quality is king no matter what language it's in.

I always felt that the dub just fit for this show based on location but honestly the voice acting in sub and dub was good in getting feel and emotions across

Magus is one of those series where the dub and sub are distinct and both worth watching. After watching the first three episodes in both languages I find the dynamic between the leads to be different. Chise in Japanese has range and variety while Elias in Japanese has experience and has played instructors many times. Chise in English sounds warmer and adds genuine emotion to improve several scenes. Elias in English isn't faking the old-fashioned style and is very measured. Sounds like the ideal Hogwarts instructor and surprised me in later scenes. The dynamic in Japanese sounds like a teacher and student, but both are old hats at voicing similar characters. The dynamic in English sounds a bit more genuine with a distinctly different tone as the leads get used to each other. I think both are worthy options and the side cast and personal preference will be the deciding factors. I love this series and I hope more people watch it.

That doesn't surprise me. Magic in a lot of shows is just what they call the substance (magic, mana, ki, ect) that give the characters their super powers and facilitates whatever deus ex machina the plot needs ( looking at you Fairy Tail).

I love cats dearly, they are my favorite. I have a burning hatred for Cartaphilus because he made Joseph into a kitty cat killer. Sorry, but I can't forgive him for that. I'm a weird dude. Andrew Meyer funny how different everyone’s perspectives can be. I prefer the English dub specifically for Elias voice. But overall one of my favorite dubs. The Japanese dub is great too but I just love Elias english voice too much. I’d say the rest of the english voice cast is on par with the Japanese just imo.

Elias voice is so handsome./////.

This show is just beautiful with its animation calm with its pacing and very educational and hilarious with its smooth ball face moments

Technically A lot of the mages are also stuck at the age that they “stopped” aging at for mentality it feels like Elias still has a lot of child-like innocence himself. And then Josef is also like stuck at bratty teenager due to his curse of immortality. (Also I know a lot of mages just have a lot slower aging not they they truest stopped aging ) and the only sorcerer/wizard/alchemist who is truest immortal is Josef

Now that season 2 is out, season 1 was so GOOD

That fits how he's presented in the manga. The early chapters have Chise commenting how difficult Elias is to read, meaning he doesn't show anything on his face or through his voice. Interestingly, it's his eyes she learns to read first, then his voice.

Wow I like this dub version. I rarely watch anime with English dub, I do watch some videos from Fullmetal Alchemist in English dub. The dub for this anime is decent.

Afiqah Suhaila I actually prefer the English dub version for this. The Japanese dub is great too but I always find myself going back to the english dub. Elias english voice in my opinion is just too amazing. It’s hard for me to watch the english dub and then go back to the Japanese dub for mainly that reason.

I love this anime so much

The fainting of Silver Lady after she realized it was Chise's birthday and she didnt prepare a party for her. 😊 One of those subtleties i missed upon first viewing. Silver really does care for Chise a great deal.

Funimation and Crunchyroll did this one together when they were partnered up but Funimation cut ties with Crunchyroll and from what I read Crunchyroll kept rights to Ancient Magus bride because they had more into it basically how I understood it. They were expected to put the english dub up at some point but it’s been like a year and a half and they haven’t yet. And funimation just has a couple clips now.
