@@shuenrong8511 her being pissed is reasonable I mean that what he is going through ain’t his fault cause he doesn’t no any feelings How they mean, operate, work, etc So pretty much your throwing a new feeling to him, he doesn’t know what it is or how to handle it This scene is a perfect example that the existence of all feelings are important cause the absence of a feeling can heavily affect the behavior of a living organism

I love the growth of Elias character and how he learns to be scared from his mistakes and seeing consequences, which he never saw them until Chise gave him a wake up call, I love that even the villains have reasons and past. I love how Chise moves away from her traumas and grows along with him

Chise basically understands he's emotionally just like a child and if he's not given the support and chance to learn to understand his own feelings and motivations, he's not going to work it out or even understand that and why there is a problem to begin with. He teaches her she is valuable and loved as a person and not just a convenience or a tool, and essentially calls bullshit when her lack of self-worth has her act reckless and self-sacrificial: 'you matter too, if their life is valuable yours isn't worth any less'. He points out the double standards neglected people have: other people deserve protection and understanding and care and patience and unconditional love and support, but not me because I'm a burden and that's unforgiveable'. In turn, Chise works to understand him, and help him understand himself. She boosts his self-awareness which gives him the chance to make choices and consider the consequences and implications of what he does, instead of being blindly influenced by his feelings. They basically increase each other's self-understanding and make it possible for them to restrain their impulses, challenge ideas inspired by fear and insecurity and anger, and choose healthier ways to handle themselves and others instead of sabotaging themselves

@@Graficcha I honestly feel like she doesn't understand Elias at all really. She treats him like a emotional child but that isn't true at all he has had these emotions and knows they exist deep in him. But he isn't a human if I had to call him anything it's more of a primordial being. A phenomenon given shape yes he has humans emotions deep down but he isn't connecting to them he is (I believe) thousands of years old over time what natural connection he has in emotions was broken which he already had little of. I feel she tries way to hard to make him human than what he really is to fit into how she wants him to act. And when he acts different than what she wants she throws a fit and almost gets herself killed leading to him usually having to save her from other entities like him. She is more of a child in terms of emotion than she likes to admit too.

​@Graficcha her actions here is really contradictory to what she knows and feels after lindel's explanation about elias past and after that whole elias jealous situation before. By now she should've known how much of a child he is when it comes to dealing with emotions and how much of a monster he can become as well. That's why he ran away and hide before cuz he didn't want to end up hurting her. Its even more contradictory with the dialogues in the manga. She got personal and lashed out how his immature for his age and calls him a monster like any human would if they see him. Not to mention that unnecessary punch tho. And top all that with her actually leaving him breaking her promise despite she was the first to be afraid of him leaving her behind. I'd say in the end she still doesn't understand elias, doesn't accept him for who he truly is yet and is more of a child. The author could've used this as an opportunity to develop their relationship more but instead they just do a simple apology (mainly elias apoligizing) and that witch didn't even explain the whole situation to chisei.

Girl forgets his a fey, not a human, he’s never felt jealous before he may be very old and knowledgeable but he’s practically got the emotion maturity of a child or a teen at most

because she is a child too and it's not so easy when someone supposed to be older and wise suddenly showing up as an immature one. It's probably the thing that her mother originally did. And it's about trust i think. She wans to trust.

honestly hadn't heard the dub up until now, and i gotta say i like elias' voice - very fitting for his character

Brian Mathis is an amazing VA, hard to believe he also voice Monkey D. Garp

I remember when this was the first time I heard Dani Chambers in anything (as Chise). I think it was pretty much her first named role afaik and now she's gone on to be in a bunch of shows!

The show is set near Bourton-on-the-Water. Chise is shown shopping there in one episode. A lot of the mythology is also West Country centered. To those not in the UK you will occasionally see someone dressed like Elias in folk festivals.

This piece has so much better translation in dub: "Is it true?" - instead of just "Really?", Elias implying that Stella isn’t what she seems using "that" instead of "she". Subtle changes make a great difference.

Fxing her curse? Benign. Conveniently choosing not only an innocent girl, but also his partner's close friend, as a 'necessary sacrifice' out of jealousy? Come on now. That's selfishness: I care more about making this person whose existence causes negative feelings in me than I care about protecting someone you care a lot about or even just leaving them be. It makes sense for Elias to not *understand* how he is being influenced by his own emotions - he doesn't even have a word for what he is feeling and why. He doesn't think 'I'm jealous and to get my revenge on this girl I will use the first excuse to get rid of her'. But that IS what is going on, and Chise knows this the moment he explains himself. Your partner casually endangering someone you care about for selfish motives, with no regard for how YOU feel about it? That's the betrayal. "I thought you cared, but you only care about saving me because you'd be sad if I was gone, and you're okay with doing things that will upset me to get what you want'. Of course he does care about her in more ways than just a thing in his life he enjoys having and wouldn't like to lose! But he's basically panicking and tunnel visioning on 'I will lose her', and avoiding that becomes his focus at the cost of plucking his head out of his arse long enough to empathize and realize that what he's doing is super fucked up and will hurt people including Chise.

There's no evidence that his emotions are fundamentally different from what humans are able to experience, him being a Magus doesn't change that in terms of emotions, he functions AND grows like human children do. That he's old doesn't change that either. Might want to actually want to get more familiar with such psychological topics before you start hollering down from mount Dunning-Kruger.

Another great example of a woman in anime punching a dude for being stupid, and it being okay. Would love a swapped version where Elias decks Chise for the same error. I don't agree with his decision - but this isnt self defense, she's taking her anger out on her husband which isnt ok. Not to mention she also doesn't know the full truth and Elias has problems that kind of created a communication barrier - which she should understand by this point. 🤔 🤷‍♀️

Exactly. I love Elias and as much as I feel sorry for him that he can’t feel emotion. His actions here were still wrong and crossing the line. I was 100% with Chise during this scene. I remember reading this scene the first time it broke my heart and I was crying hard. It was stuck with me for a week until I got over it.😔🥺😭💔😊💀🥀✨

The show is nowhere near as problematic as its premise suggests, but for me at least, this is where it went too far. The show does call Elias out for attempting to murder a girl out of jealousy, but there’s no real punishment; after Chise is saved, they have a brief comical argument and then they tie the knot. I know the manga is different in regards to the reconciliation though, so I can give it a pass.

Why are you spoiling people who haven't watched or read it yet? Lol. I'd be so mad.

Somehow she pissed me off for some reasons....maybe it's the voice actor...
