Personally, I'd change out the gravel in the " Y" ballscrew. I tend to like smooth river pebbles over crushed granite.

It looked to me like it was the hose rubbing against the ribbed wire protector making that crunchy noise. You can see the wear marks on it too. @5:28.

I don't know if it's just the vid, but the screw mount on the end looks low, ie, not aligned with the others. You can imagine the force on the screw when it gets to the end and that mount isn't inline with the others.

Most KZread build explain videos make me feel like "I could do that", this series makes me think I definitely could not do that.

I don't 'do' CNC, or have much understanding of electronic control systems, but I love your presentation style so much that it's a joy to watch you carefully explain the 'intimate details' of these systems. The only way to understand it really is to do the maths, I think. Laplace transform all the way. I don't think it's really useful in practice though, I guess, but only then could I really understand it (beyond regular PID (even though PID tuning is still a little black magic))

Gotta say, your videos are the most interesting videos I watch. The combination of dad humor, amazing technical detail and well-shot segments is killer. I look forward to seeing the Maho eventually become sentient as well as seeing you take on the challenge of making precision ball bearings...yes, that's a double dog dare!

I'm a literal control systems engineer, who works in Open/Closed loop land all day every day. And that was a better explanation than anyone has ever given about the subject than in industry!

Yeah that’s definitely what it sounds like and as kids my brother and I used to run sticks over a similar hose at my dad’s shop and it made the same sound (same as that white hose)

Your freaking cut-away visuals are the best freaking part of these videos. The subtlety and humor is fantastic.

Jay Lanfear, A three D etch-a-sketch! Most people have trouble with a two handled etch-a-sketch, I mean I can draw a box or a rectangle, but writing my name in cursive is a different ballgame. Add a third knob and that thing is off the scale, for one thing, I only have two arms! Lol, I had to reply because that was my first thought when I saw that three handled control. Have a good day!

I’ve caught myself binging on these videos every night for probably a total of 6 months now over the last year or so. The rewatchability is amazing, even when I can speak the words before he says them it is still entertaining.

last time i watched TOT was around when the LAST maho video was uploaded. now i come back to the full maho conversion video? looks like i'm having an early christmas this year!

This was really a great summary of all that hard work you've put into the MAHO. thanks for sharing it all, and even going into the bits on teh servos and such. My knowledge is very limited, but i can almost keep up.

Observation from my 6 year old: "When This Old Tony says not true it's usually just a joke"

I did as suggested and was skipping around while watching the whole movie... or rather that was the plan until the wife came out wondering what the hell all the commotion was about.
