I found success installing this by pulling the AFG away from the handguard while simultaneously screwing in the bolts. Tightened up fine for me.

I just ordered a new pistol upper. My first with Mlok. I want to add the AFG, So will I have to get a few rail slots to attach it to?? Or is there a way to mount it without adding the slots??

Good info, Good video. I think that M-Lok will take over and push Key-Mod out. The Key-Mod is cool looking but that's about it. M-Lok is much more robust and slimmer with rails mounted plus it's stronger overall. I have found that the tabs on the Key-Mod mount can be pulled true the handguard slots if dropped on something hard. Thanks for your hard work and time, nice video.

Nick Danger Actually I did install the AFG correctly, but on the wrong end of the hand guard ;-). I wasn't paying any attention to the hand guard orientation at the time. Thanks for pointing that out though.

Hello, did you say i need a 7mm L key to install? It doesnt come in the box?

I bought and installed one of these a while back. The first thing I found was that the grip surface was way to small. I wear a size XL in gloves. So, I took it to the bench grinder and removed the bump at the small end of the grip. It is much better, but the grip is overall to small to really be effective for me.

Do you know if this AFG will fit on the CMR?

I wish magpul would’ve made a mlok version of the afg2. I personally hate the current official mlok version they have. It is way too small and does not give a firm positive grip, you almost need your hold onto the hand guard too otherwise it feels like your gun will fall out of your hands. I just ordered the afg2 with the rail - mlok adapter in FDE. should fit my hands a lot better.

I agree 100%. I had afg2s on my quad rail MRPs and really liked them. Switched to mlok and got the mlok adapter for them. Still liked them but for some really stupid reason sold them and tried some actual mlok products. May be buying afg2s and adapters again. Don't like the mlok afg at all, too small.

+MrZman0004 The nuts on the M-Lok AFG are too small to secure it to the Alpha rail (Alpha rail holes are too large). Although I didn't investigate it in-depth, I suspect if one were to use some washers, you could make it work.

That's not a 7mm Allen wrench. The instructions mention using a 7mm wrench to hold the t tab bits while you use the 1/8" alen key to tighten.

Can I mount that on a quad rail?

You have to get the one made for the picatanny. This is for mlok only. They make the same grip for a rail

Like the M=lok coz you don't need picatiny rail to attach on M-lok rails....

Woah i had no idea

I bought one on ebay advertised as "Genuine" for like 7 bucks. The seller also had 2 pics with the magpul logo on it. When I received it, i told him it wasn't a genuine magpul afg & that he even used the real magpul part #. I told him that I would normally ask for my money back but that it was going to cost me probably just as much in time and shipping to send it back to him just to get my money back. And I told him the screws were not the correct size and had some play inside of the afg where I had to get some little washers and modify them just so they wouldn't shake inside once mounted and actually line up correctly. So be careful with all the counterfeit stuff they are selling on eBay.

That's not how eBay works. Any surprises like that and you just do a return for an item not as described. The seller pays for return shipping and refunds your money. When a seller plays games like that just make them eat it. It's THEIR problem not your problem.

@@theders8590 if you want to get a knock-off one that is identical in size and feel to the Magpul one, and don't mind the fact that it is not an authentic Magpul one like I did, there's one on ebay for $7 with free shipping. It's the one that I asked for my money back because it says MAG598- BLK and as was described as genuine Magpul on the main description. But be forewarned it is not a Magpul product like the description says it is. I would personally not have bought it if I knew it was not going to be an aythentic Magpul product. But believe it or not it fits perfectly on the MLok rails, except for the screws that came with it. I had to modify some small washers to get the screws to fit. I was just upset over the false & deceiving advertising from this vendor

the afg2 looks too fat and the mlok one looks too small...so idk

Typical cheap plastic that cost way too much . I wish I could boycott but their products are way to perfect for my needs and other copycat products have crap QC .
