I miss the Magpies. My older brothers and later I brought home babies that had fallen from nests in the huge cottonwood trees growing along the San Juan River near Kirtland, New Mexico. They were mostly bright white and shiny black feathered, I remember no other colored feathers. Most of our rescued chicks lived and were great pets. They can be taught to talk though we never seriously tried. They would usually come back and visit the next summer and one came back 2 summers. We have pictures of them riding on our Border Collies back. They are fun.
