Thanks Levy- illuminating and insightful commentary. I didn't think anything outside of years of hard work would make sense of the game at this level, but you made it engaging and educational. For chess it is like the golden age of American Football, say 1983-1993 when you had these world-class commentators, these rivalries. Hikaru/Magnus is kind of like Washington/Dallas, Theissman vs. Staubach. But this is way better I don't even watch football now.

Great video! Wish you were also able to cover the Hikaru v. Alireza game though, that was probably the most stressful chess match I'd ever seen. I don't think I'd seen a more satisfying win for Hikaru ever. Great final match with Magnus though, what a great tournament.

The evolution of Hikaru is almost complete, he will become the chess god emperor. “I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” ― Frank Herbert, Dune

"The players play as many games as they can over the course of 45 minutes, and there's just one rule: it's win by two." What if after the forty-five minutes the match is drawn or one of the players leads by one? Is there some kind of bullet Armageddon? Winner take all sudden death? 13:52 Well that answers that question.
