Created in 1977, The World's Strongest Man™ has become the premier event in strength athletics. For over 30 years, the strongest men on the planet have come together in a series of unique and amazing tests of strength to determine The World's Strongest Man. I remember watching him on tv in the 90's, as a child. He was like an alien with superpowers! Always entertaining to watch!
Such a legendary name Magnus. Imagine being such a legend you have Magnus in your name twice lol - a double legend
Ahh, those were the days that made me love strong man! Loved those events.
For me, this guy was the best strongman ever.

you never know, maybe if he won the title that year in his home country, it would've been his last, but the fact is he lost and maybe it somehow encouraged him to win 3 more titles later, everything happens for a reason

danger mike no way of knowing if the loss is what motivated him to win. He might’ve won the same amount if he didn’t drop that stone, hell maybe he would’ve won 6 titles straight and beat Taylor in 93 also. He dropped the stone because he made a mistake, not because the universe was trying to motivate him.

Only thing I know after watching this is their a direct link between strength and the amount of Magnus's that are in your name

haha what a goofy mistake by the creator.. YOU HAD ONE JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I had the pleasure of meeting Magnus in 1998 at a bar in St. Louis. My friends and I had watched WSM reruns many times and were familiar with his exploits. We were so excited to meet him that he was excited that he and his friends became excited. I can say that the World's Strongest Man bought me a beer. They offered to have us show them the good places to visit but I had driven several people in my car and couldn't go. Nevertheless, they hung out and chatted for quite some time. Just wanted to show everyone what type of person he is, a true gentleman.

In defense of Kaz: Yeah, he was a freacking monster and compare his strength to most people in those days won´t be fair cause Kaz was stronger, probably only topped by Mark Henry in the 90´s but the dude wasn´t a strongman yet.

@@antoniocenteno1483 Are u sure Mark Henry was physically stronger than Bill Kazmaier? How did u come to that conclusion?
I had the pleasure of not only meeting Magnus but competed against him at the 95 and 97 World MusclePower Championships. One of the most underrated and nicest guys.
When O.D. Wilson was in awe after the deadlift in 1991 and called Magnus superman, that really gave you an idea of how incredibly good Magnus was! O.D. Wilson was almost twice his size and a legendary strongman.

I saw him winning Squat lift multipie times and he was often in the top 3 in any kind of overhead pressing and deadlift (probably only Badenhorst was better deadlifter in that era). So I would agree with Magnus that the key to sucess was to don' t have any serious weakness. And Magnus was exactly this kind of guy - super strong, really fast and also the athlete with absolutele marvelous technique. Great man and one of the best strongman in history.

Magnus attractive AF. Guy could have been a model or movie star.
Best to ever do it in my book
You gotta appreciate his emphasis on technique rather than just raw strength and that he started out as a reserve contestant.
Interesting kaz said magnus had great ability and practice with the events, on a podcast magnus said he never practiced the events because he didn’t have the equipment

0:45 is that stone ball ? I don't think so 😂
Manfred on the penultimate stone dropped the ball literally during the atlas stones in the final round when they went head to head as he was already was thinking of the last stone. MVM was their to capitalise & was a great champion but he got lucky.

Magnus kept his focus and had the strength and speed to back it up vs a very strong competitor. Manfred got distracted by how Magnus was catching him and lost concentration. Magnus made his own luck and kicked ass. It also comes down to the total for all events, plus he was one of the smallest guys there. He was just awesome. When a giant like O.D. Wilson called him superman in 1991, that gives an idea of how good he was.
U can tell Magnus is a Great guy on stage off stage
Magnus Ver Magnusson. The name so nice, me mother gave it to me twice.
I don't like how Bill tries to make it seem like Magnus just won the WSM 4 times because he was "athletic and good at the events"....he was pretty fucking strong Bill...don't be jealous because you didn't get the opportunity to win 4 yourself

@@DaveGeelen88 Kaz was definitely stronger than Pudzian, Magnusson, and rivalled Siggmarsson in his prime. Kaz should have definitely won 5-6 titles if it weren't for him being banned from WSM from 83-87 for winning too much. Although I'd argue Big Z is probably stronger than Kaz and considering Big Z has won every major Strongman title at least once he definitely has the edge as the G.O.A.T.

You could argue Mariusz and Kaz dominated weaker eras,
@AlexBelte3002
5 жыл бұрын
@@meginna8354 oh you can even affirm that completely. But the fact is, Kaz has had some very ferocious guys against him like Tom Magee, Geoff Capes, Lars Hedlund, or Hackett and Waddington, when Mariusz was nicknamed "Dominator" (2005-2007 especially) there was, well... No one. Just Pfister in 2006 where he was at his absolute prime, but that's it. So I would not call Kaz era "weak" but out of his league, where Mariusz was lucky enough to see some of his biggest threats go to IFSA and favoured the Arnold and Fortissimus. Anyway, MVM was clearly in a very (if not the most) competitive era for such a dominant champion.

I am Dutch, But seeing Magnus struggle on the hùsafell, made me sick seeing a Dutch man winning the wsm title by carrying it further then Magnus. I should be proud of the fellow countryman, but because I am a fan of Magnus and I totally didn't expect to had Ted van Der parre win and I honestly didn't Want Ted to win it really made me sick to my stomach to see Magnus drop that husafell and see him thinking what just happened... why didnt i just walked instead of wanting to see where i was going while i just couldve walked instead of twisting and stopping and looking... ibust thought Shit man Magnus just walk man u will feel direct if u walk off course so dont waste ur title on homeground man!

@@vanguard4065 he was just a 2.10m long tree with raw power yea respect because he was the only one to Carry the stone in such a hard and awkward way. if he did it like Hafthor does (Also Magnus) Ted would have walked the whole distance with ease. he only wasnt mentally like born to be a strongman because he stopped after only a couple of years. if he really wouldve pushed himself he would have deadlifted 555kg with todays knowledge and his big frame. even hafthor is capable of a 555,5kg max lift because the math says Hafthor is the strongest in decades to come if he just puts such records on the list but he only lifted a 501kg because he didnt had a reason to do more :( he is 2.06m but much broader than ted so Hafthor could have been 212.5kg instead of 206kg and lifted 54,5kg more if he wanted. the bulking muscle for sush a lift just have to be put on a long period of time instead a couple of weeks. more training means more strength even at the same bodyweight. ted was just very light and Unmuscular for his bigger frame.
only manfred hoeberl is the strongest..
3:59 "his strength wasn't that great" - if thats true then he shouldn't have won the Worlds Strongest Man title in my opinion
