Whenever the graphic novel version of this comes out, I honestly hope they put this scene at the end. I mean, yeah, it's not how they did it in the podcast, but I think Magnus dying and then tell Julia the story at the very end flows much better than showing this scene and then cutting back in time to the wedding.

I couldn't handle ending on a sad note DX Killian and Carey's wedding saved me a lot of tears. But I agree switching that last scene to the end would really hit some hearts.

While i agree it flows better, i think the wedding was a great way to end with seeing all the cast together and not with Magnus death and Julia, which cues so much emotion

@@SarahHopkins GOD SAME. i just finished it a few minutes ago and while chronologically his death is the last scene, im so glad we flashed back to the present after this scene in the podcast. I wouldn't have been able to take it (u could hear his brothers and dad choking up in the bg god griffin is so so great)

I agree. Especially with Mangus begining to tell the story of basically the campaign.

"We see you one last time, as Magnus rushes in." this was so beautiful and poignant, I love your designs for Julia and Magnus, and how she takes her bandana off and puts it round his neck! this entire animatic was wonderful, what a good end to Magnus' character arc :')

The cut between Magnus being an old man, then seeing Julia, then being young again absolutely kills me.

I honestly can't believe Sarah Hopkins and the McElboys came into my house today, killing me instantly.

Oh man, this scene was really what made me cry during the finale. And now I'm crying again.

Elves live seven times longer than humans (assuming that said humans all make it to 100, even-) so of course he wouldn't be ready. Taako had to live 6/7th of his natural life without one of his best friends- and considering the age of Lucretia, Merle, and Davenport, I'm willing to bet Taako, Lup, and Barry were the last ones left after a period of time. (Let's not get started on baby Ango- I'm distressed enough as it is-)

I realize this is an old comment but I just saw it! It's pretty much fanon that Magnus has a red bandana, and many people draw Julia with a red scarf in her hair. I included the scene where she ties the bandana around his neck as a sort of "welcome home" to Magnus.

I remember hearing this part for the first time. I had been listening to the three episodes back-to-back. I had never been so moved by a story. I also remember calling my friend who initiated me to TAZ, yelling ''PODCASTS ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO MAKE ME CRY''. What was the nail in the coffin of my emotional stability was during the following The The Adventure Zone Zone, when Travis said that ''I just wanted to make you proud'' was an homage to his mother.

i just started taz a few days ago and got to this scene a few minutes ago im never recovering

„Just gonna watch some cute, funny TAZ balance animatics before going to bed“ I thought „Won‘t hurt“ I thoughtAND THEN I STUMBLED ACROSS THIS AND NOW I CAN‘T STOP CRYING SND YOU MADE SUCH A BEAUTIFUL ANIMATIC FOR SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SCENE

Has anyone else realized the reason they’re crying isn’t because Magnus is dead, but the reason is just how much Magnus and Julia absolutely love each other.

Oh, hot dang. They did it again. I'm weeping. I just watched Griffin's speech at the University of Florida, and he talked about how none of them took the time to truly mourn their mom's passing. This makes this moment so special, and I'm so thankful they shared it with all of us. And thank you for animating this. It's really, really amazing. ❤️

The way they have it set up as Magnus tells Julia the story, it reminds me of the ending of "The Outsiders" how the main character ends the story by starting off the beginning of the book, and the way I like to think of this is It's being told through Magnus' view of the adventure, starting off in the tavern, and ending with Magnus' last breath, surrounded by friends, which makes your heart hurt so much more

I lost my mother at 11 and when Travis was talking about how the line was meant for his mother in The The Adventure Zone Zone, I fucking lost it man. It's been almost ten years and man do I know what it's like to just hope and pray that you're doing them proud

When Mangus says " I know, I'm sorry i made you wait.." breaks me everytime

this scene made me cry the first time i heard it, this animation just made it even better, loved the detail of the red kerchief :)

So I thought I was done feeling feelings bout the end of this season of TAZ... But apparently I was wrong. This is amazing and beautiful and god damn I'm tearing up now so yeah thank you for making this and making the feelings happen again

So, I've been avoiding listening to this scene ever since I listened to the finale for multiple reasons, one being that I wasn't sure if I would be able to see it and not cry again. No matter how many times i hear this i will always tear up. This was probably one of the few times ive ever flat out bawled while listening to or watching something. The mcelroys are geniuses.

Him ending magnus's story with "Magnus rushes in" is the most heartfelt thing

I can kind of hear that Travis is already crying. Especially when the dog licks him and he sort of chuckles. And when he says "I tried to make you proud"

This fits the scene so perfectly, the tears came right back.

Jesus, Griffin is going places his whole career. Magnus rushes in? I'm gushing. I absolutely can't wait to see where amnesty and just Griffins whole deal go.

this is my favorite animatic of all time. I made an animatic of everything but this scene from the last part of this episode, because I knew i couldn't do it justice. You truly captured the pacing, the characters, the emotions of this whole thing. Thank you so much for making this.

Hi. I just finished the Balance campaign last night. It made me cry, but it was 3am and I know I shouldn't have stayed up so late to finish it but I did and I was just too tired to process my emotions. I had a full day of work today, constantly feeling weird and bummed and not knowing how to fix it. Of course, I started looking up the animations for TAZ Balance that I couldn't watch while I wasn't caught up. I found this one, and it made me cry even harder than even the finale did. And I needed that. I needed this to help me process it all, and I can't thank you enough for this amazing work.

I finished this episode today and when I heard "How does Magnus die..?" and I started weeping uncontrollably. It took me what felt like ten minutes to regain my composure

My eyes are leaking and I somehow feel more emotional, this is magic

Yall I aint ever reacted emotionally out loud to piece of media once ever, in 25 years, and then this scene happened and for the very first time I real life actually sobbed to pieces. This was an Experience, and at the end of such an Adventure. Good on you, McElboys.

there's so much love in this story and it is so beautiful. Clint talked in the the adventure zone zone about how the boys' mother is in every aspect of the story, and Travis talked a little about how Magnus' love for his wife was inspired by his own love for his wife. This moment feels like the culmination of a story arc that I never would have imagined the Magnus of episode 1 ever having, but it feels so pure and genuine.

Even after years, hearing "...As we see for one last time, Magnus rushes in." gets me into absolute tears. This is an awesome animatic!

The audio makes me cry as a creator I like uses it where they reunite with their lover who they met at a bar, and they become the cabin boy of the siren ,who is a captain of the ship they have adventures on, and sirens live for 300 years and it makes me cry when a sad story gets an even happier ending

AH MAN , i chocked up again. i never expected to love this show but it hard not to when there was such a massive amount of character growth, not to mention how attached the guys got to them. literally just i the last arc you can hear the emotion the guys have for their characters and as much as they tried to hide it you could hear them choke up knowing it was the end their 4 year journey.

returning to this podcast, and specifically this scene right now. I loved Balance so much a few years back, and this scene has made me cry harder than it ever originally did. Two weeks ago, my fiance suddenly passed away. We were looking forward to our long and happy life together, but now I hope he's up there somewhere preparing for the day I can come home to him after spending my life trying to make him proud. I cry a lot of sad tears, but I think these tears were happy ones. It felt so good to hear those words, "I tried to make you proud." "I'm sure you did."

This is,,,,, so beautiful, oh my gosh. The little touch of colour in Julia's ribbon! Everyone's expressions right before Magnus passes away! The doges!! The music pieces you picked to keep in!! JULIAAAA! I loved this part of the finale and this animatic made me cry a little bit, again. Thank you for sharing this with us
