Magnus Carlsen's revenge vs 18-year-old Abdusattorov Nodirbek | World Rapid 2022

Спорт

Magnus Carlsen lost the World Rapid title in 2021 because he lost a crucial encounter to Nodirbek Abdusattorov. Due to that victory Nodirbek went on to become the World Champion. Now exactly a year later, the two have clashed once again. This time in the 4th round of the World Rapid 2022. Will the Classical World Champion beat the Rapid World Champion and get his revenge or will the 18-year-old youngster strike once again? Check out in this video!

    @Noob Master Yoyo Rd5 will not do black any good if anything it will quicken his demise, after Rg5+ R×e5 R×e5 Black's queenside pawns would get picked off pretty quickly and the black bishop would have to sacrifice itself to prevent White's past pawn from queeing later on after the King joins in so at the end White will be up a Rook and 2 pawns, B×g7 leads to white ending up a bishop and 3 pawns if white wants to do a cleaning up, so R×g7 results in a quicker win with an endgame in which you're up more material

    Has someone analyzed with an engine? From viewing this exciting game, my guess is from first glance, that blacks fast move Qxf7 seems to be critical. After instead Kg8! Nxd8 is not possible, because white loses the queen after Nxc3. After Kg8! gxh7+ is therefore necessary (Kxf7? h8Q +-) Kxh7! Rh3+ (Rxg7+? Bxg7 -+) Kg8 Nh6+ (can't be taken by black because of the Rg1) Kh7 (or Kh8 only moves) but where is the mate? Nf7++ leads to a forced draw by perpetual. Because of the black pawn e5, which blocks Qc3 or Bb2 (if the white queen would sit elsewhere) from hitting g7, Rxg7+ in the line above is not mate in two. Therefore, black had imho to defend pawn e5 at all costs and Bxe8 later on in the game instead of Rxe8, defending pawn e5, seems to be an inaccuracy. Some tiny details make the difference. 😏

  • @noobmasteryoyo5136

    I think Kg8 there was Qc4 and white was winning, haven’t checked with the engine tho

  • @henni1964

    @henni1964

    Жыл бұрын

    @@noobmasteryoyo5136 Yes, Qc4! is a critical candidate move in the Kg8 line and I agree that this is complicated with good practical chances for black. Qe6 to block the nasty pin seems to be the only move. Bb2 still blocked by the black pawn on e5, so no mate in two after gxh7+ Kxh7. Haven't checked with an engine neither. After Qc4! there is Bb5?? but now gxh7+! Kxh7 (only move) Rh3+ followed by Rh8 mate. Nice! 🙂 So we have Kg8! Qc4! Qe6! (after Qxa4 there is Nxg3+ Rxg3 Ra8 and black is the exchange up. Now after Qe6! gxh7+ Kxh7 Rh3+ doesn't work, because after Kg8 Rh8+ Kxf7 is possible with the black queen on e6.). So instead Qxe6 Rxe6 Nxd8 seems forced. We have Nxg3+ Rxg3 Re8 (Nxb7? Rb8 winning the Bb2.) Nf7 Bd6, protecting the pawn e5 once again. Counting the material, black is still in the game (only one pawn down) and can fight on.

  • @noobmasteryoyo5136

    @noobmasteryoyo5136

    @@henni1964 The critical line is Qe6 gxh7+ Kxh7, and now since the queen is on e6 there's Ng5+ winning the queen. A really subtle difference, but that's why white has to go Qc4 first before your line of gxh7+. Great analysis tho!

    @@noobmasteryoyo5136 Thank you! It was a nice exercise for me, stopping the video at the move Ng5! from Magnus and trying to figure it out in my head. Oh yes, I overlooked this crushing knight move in the line Nxe2 Nf7+ Kg8 (Qxf7 gxf7 Nxc3 fxe8Q in the game) Qc4! Qe6 (what else) gxh7+ Kxh7 (Kxf7 Qxe6+ followed by h8Q+-) Ng5+! (from where it entered blacks position) forking the black queen on e6! Once the white knight landed on f7 it became a true "Octopus Knight" ! 😉

    7:40 Bishop E4 was the best move , nadirbek didn't see. By this move he can check trapped king of carlsen and if he block it from rook he can trade the bishop with rook By this he can stop magnus to mate him and also he can kill his other rook and bishop with trade of other bishop of him Now magnus has nothing other than pawns but nadirbek has paws and 1 rook , definitely he will win

    Close but not quite. If White checks with Bishop E4, Magnus pulls top rook back down to block check. This also checks his king.
