I got to fire the .45-70 at the run range and it was more pleasant than most SW 44 mags. This 44 mag BFR is probably one of the most pleasant 44 mags out there to shoot.

I agree and our 45-70 is also pleasant to shot maybe more so with it being a 10” barrel. Thanks for watching and commenting and please be sure to subscribe if you haven’t already

I think the BFR Bisley grip frame revolver is the best design big frame revolver from any manufacturer in America.

Good thing you can use Buffalo Bore 340 grain WFNGC 44 magnum ammo and 330 grain Garrett Cartridges of Texas ammo for any big game animal that walks the earth. Feed it well.

A testament to how strong the BFR is that a 500 Bushmaster is only capable of being built on the 500 S&W magnum and other long cylinder BFR frames. Google the 500 Bushmaster from TII Armory and see for yourself.

The 45 70 bfr has been on my list for 4 years now. Never ran into one, but i will someday. When i got the henry in 45 70, i wanted a pistol to match the caliber. Thanks for all the great videos lately!

@@_wanted_outlaw3007 I wouldn't necessarily recommend a revolver for home defense, let alone a single action. 357 has overpenetration issues as well. The gun however is accurate.

@@Catgat37 you can fire .38 out of a .357 but I'm not sure if that would work well in this revolver, I'm sure I could use .38 +p if overpenetration was an issue. I know you can do that in a LCR .357 revolver. And that thing is a tiny pocket revolver so I imagine it would work good in the bfr which is heavier so less recoil.

  • @Catgat37

You talk about some rifle calibers, but those are just the production ones. You can get custom ones in 300 blackout, 458 socom, 45-90...just to name a few.

The Bisley grip frame on that 44 magnum BFR makes it a wonderful shooter handling recoil better than any other grip frame design. Too bad you have the old grip frame design.

I have the regular grip frame bfr in 454 casull, 475 Linebaugh and 500 Linebaugh and there’s a lot of personal preference as to which works better for the shooter. Some prefer the bisley some prefer the regular. I have the regular just because I had bfrs before the Bisley grip frame came out and wanted them to be the same. My 500 shoots a 540g bullet at 1325fps and the regular grip frame with rubber monogrip works great and doesn’t hurt my hand at all to shoot a few cylinders full of. MRI also discontinued the bisley grip on the 44 models now so it’s a custom shop only option if you want one on a 44

$1100 is a great price for a quality made single action 6 shot in 44 Remington Magnum versus other (Tarus, S&W & Ruger) manufacturers. However Freedom Arms model 83 either in Premier grade or Field grade would have been better quality, but double the price. The 44 Remington Magnum would also be 5 shot not 6 shot.

From a manufacturing standpoint, they may be using the same barrel and cylinder stock with the .44 as they do the bigger 45 calibers, to reduce cost in manufacturing, which may be why it's so beefy. Have you seen the kind of quality that Freedom Arms puts out in their single action?
