CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The vigilante cops are dead, but Inspector Callahan (Clint Eastwood) has one last score to settle with Lt. Neil Briggs (Hal Holbrook).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The second Dirty Harry movie, Magnum Force concerns itself with a vigilante group that has targeted notorious scofflaws for extermination. When a prominent gang boss or drug-runner is set free by the airheaded liberal courts, a covert group of "avengers" is soon on hand to blow the miscreant to bits. While detective Dirty Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) is no great friend of civil liberties, he is dead set against wholesale murder as a solution to legal loopholes. Discovering that all the killings have been committed by the same weapon, Callahan reaches the conclusion that his on-the-edge partner, Charlie McCoy (Mitchell Ryan), is responsible. But the answer is less transparent than that, as Harry learns almost at the cost of his own life. Co-scripted by John Milius and Michael Cimino, Magnum Force was followed by three additional Dirty Harry installments: The Enforcer (1976), Sudden Impact (1983) and The Dead Pool (1988).
CREDITS:

I'd say "The Enforcer" is also not an entirely bad movie. "Sudden Impact" and "The Dead Pool" fall below par as a whole - but even these have their moments in some individual scenes. (For example: the coffee shop scene featuring the lines "Smith, Wesson and me" and "go ahead, make my day" are absolutely classic Dirty Harry, in my opinion.)

briggs disgusts me not because of what he believes in but because he wasnt brave enough to practice it himself. he groomed 3 young impressionable cops and sent them out to kill for him. like turning puppies into attack dogs.

Don.............. Four when you count Sweet. Goodman, Airborne Ranger, Special Forces but one does not mean the other. Although very common in 1979 to hear the two linked together. Yes, Briggs was a real POS.

Hal Holbrook really does a great job here. It always felt so real to me, with that weakened, shaky hand wipe at 0:48 Love the obvious dummy and that old school FX car explosion at 2:17

Cars of that age could take a lot of damage and still run. My brother hit a small car with his 66 Caprice. The other car was totaled. My brother drive home and changed the bumper.

Aw, would have been nice to include the fade-out tune to this scene, some of lalos finest work with Clint here, really adds to the depression & the “well, whod’ya think was right, punk?” feeling of the whole film. But……what a CLASSIC film, can watch it ANY time it’s on.
