I felt like I had been transported to an early 70s show from Grateful Dead or Mountain. Absolutely breathtaking.

More than good enough! Epic! Legendary! Fuck it, when an artist is that underated and all, this is down right a cult status live set! What a talented group of artists around JM. Respect.

I've spent the past few months flipping through live sets of his, and this is it. This is the one. astonishing.
Brings tears to my eyes.this stricken man was a genius. Like he says in North Star, no one chooses to be sick. Rip mr Molina. A fuckn men

his brother said "Jason has the kind of alcoholism that kills people." He was sick. It's a disease and those most talented often succumb to it because it fuels creativity -- utill it uses it up. RIP.....GREAT songwriter and singer I never even knew about until the other day -- I got a lot of catching up to do. Peace out.
This is the definitive MEC experience… they outdid themselves on this one. Jason was an absolutely underrated genius.

He wasn't underated to us. Who cares about the masses?
I found out about Jason Molina from a tribute concert that was put on by all his friends and former bandmates, I was brought by a friend and didn't know who songs: ohia was or any of Jason's music! Ever since I have been a dedicated listener. I'm from Chicago so some of his music really stands out to me. This performance is haunting and one of my all time favorite sets with all the bangers!
Such an awesome, enormous legacy of sound this man and his friends created in his too brief time with us.

@Malte Laurids Brigge In my humble opinion, you should write a biography or a short novel on Jason Molina and his music. Your beautiful comment and his music made me weep.

@@Nickee_Sonicjinn I say his story would make a GREAT netlix doc or something -- it would revive his career....Not that he cares
this version of "almost was good enough"... Omfg, this is so beautiful.
Fighting back tears.
I think anyone who likes rock music, and listens to this concert would become a Jason Molina fan. He was such a great musician. So
Lost my brother over thanksgiving the same year as Jason passed. He passed from alcoholism related issues as well at 51. Tragic deaths due to a disease that takes many yet we do not seem to see it until it is too late. It is a socially acceptable form of suicide. Tragic loss. Such a bright star and dark soul. He is at peace now.

What would you say to someone out there like Jason, or your brother who is doing it still? Is there any way/form to help/prevent?

Thanks for posting this the way you did.
It sounds so good it hurts my soul.
This is by far one of the greatest concerts I have ever heard, wow.
Did another JM binge today in honor of his 50th birthday, had to end with this one, of course.

This is great, had forgotten how much mojo they had live. It’s an awesome sounding recording, maybe better then the official live album. Thanks for sharing!
😪 I miss Jason's Music - "no one makes it out...."
i stumbled upon Jason years ago. got hooked instantly, even more when i learned he died. but does add to the sentiment his music has. definitely grinded down by the industry AND absolutely underrated.
Miss you Jason. Your soul is missed
Only recently discovered magnolia electric co. Wish I knew them years ago. Love this band.

They were an incredible band to see live. Especially during the transition from Songs: Ohia to Magnolia Electric Co. That was an amazing era in his songwriting. I miss seeing this band twice a year. @PRLIT
Wow this live performance is eben more "molina" than everything else I've heard. Even more blues and pain is expressed here. I guess that Jason hadn't a good mood that evening.
Great concert, super band, great poet!
This is great!!Brutal!! In a my mother land..
He seemed like such a sweet guy.
Still, after al this years its such à great loss..., hè made such à beautiful music, i can cry every time i hard his sound..
Great sounds! The tuning is so perfect. It gets to me every time. Jason was so blessed/cursed in his feeling and imagination.
So. Damn. Good. Wish you hadn't left so soon Jason!
The sound is perfect. Thanks for the upload. Much appreciated.

Could you explain why, after listening to the show, the band was in the pocket. I listen to many genres.. Black metal, hardcore, emo/scremo, Crustpunk, bluegrass, and even jam(the grateful dead is my fav band).....and Molina might be the greatest songwriter of our generation. just wondering why you thought the show was bad?

@@jetr61 i'd agree if it werent for Greg Cartwright, of Reigning Sound and the raw garage punk 90s juggernaut, the Oblivians, they both come from different points on a globe and both, brutally honest and desperate at times. i caught Molina late, theweek he died actually...and i started at the end (Trials and Errors) and worked my way back....slow plodding steps. It hit me like a hammer, swung with all an arm had, in the dark (and the dark dont hide it) it hit me that hard and i wish i could pester him after an intimate show and tell him so. i was too tie up in low fi raw garage punk, noisey rock to notice that...the king of this world of singer songwriters is easily named jason molina. Cartwright, also deserving of such a title, came from memphis, confident yet polite with a broken heart and 4 perfect albums as Reigning Sound after blowing some minds during the 90s blasting it, he turned it down and realized he could spit out a classic 3 at a time

@@DaveAnchovies Finding Jason after his passing is the definition of regret. I never cared about meeting the artists that I admire until Jason. It took me 2 years to work through his catalog and after that I stopped looking for new music. I don't even listen to music much anymore, it was an obsession my whole life, but Jason is a capstone.

I acquired a taste for Molina's work habitually... timing helps, but the quality of writing and playing will age well with time. Might want to experience it from most recent to the beginning.
