Nice stuff there - Cheers!! I'm finishing up my first Magnetic Body Mounts.... No kit, just bought a stack of Rare-Earth Round Magnets, with 1/4" holes in the middle. These slip right over the stock Body Mount Posts! 👍👍 I then measured the height I wanted, and stuck clips in those holes on the Posts. Then I took two Magnets, an placed a pair on each Post... Then cut the Posts, level with the top Magnet. Then, and *Important* - place a piece of clear Packing Tape, in 2" x 2" squares, an put them between EACH pair of Magnets - tape sticky side UP (towards the Body). THEN - I used a GOOD, very strong two part Epoxy, placed on the LOWER Magnets ONLY, and placed each pair of Magnets on the Posts, and quickly placed the UNPAINTED Body on top of the UPPER Magnets - with NO EPOXY on the upper Magnets!!! Don't even stick the Tape to the Body - YET (it would NEVER hold the unglued Magnets on the Body anyway! The Body is only sitting on the dry Magnets, to make sure that the Magnets on the bottom, WITH Epoxy, will cure in the EXACT position and exact angles, to cure and harden almost perfectly flush with the four mounting points! 😉 I even put a little weight on the Body, to help hold the Magnet position better, whilst curing. It will NEED to be left alone for at least 24 hours, to cure well..... THEN....... Paint Body as normal. Give the Paint another day to make sure that the Paint has completely dried. Then, *lightly* scuff the surface of the Paint, around each Magnet location. DO NOT Remove Paint!!! You merely want light scratches on the INSIDE of the Body, to give the Epoxy some "tooth" to grip the Body better.... These Magnets (at least the ones *I used* ), are VERY strong!! BTW, all Magnets should be sitting on the Posts, bottom glued, tape between, pointing up.... THEN (almost there!!), Mix more Epoxy, according to the Brand's instructions. You should still have a piece of 2" x 2" Clear Packing Tape in between the lower and upper Magnets - sticky side towards Body. TAKE the Epoxy, and apply a thick layer on top of the Magnets, and some more on the Tape, about 1/2" around the Magnets. *THEN* CAREFULLY set the Body on top of the glued Magnets, being CAREFUL that the Body is centered, exactly where YOU want it to sit. CAREFULLY again, reach inside the Body, around the Post areas, and push the Tape until it sticks to the Body. You may have to check the Tape again, and push it against the Body. That should be the last time... THEN - place some moderate weight on the Body, centered over the front and back Posts. The weight of Paperback Novels should be ample weight, and is soft and fairly pliable. Leave the whole thing alone for 24 hours (or more!), and you're DONE!!! 👏👏👏👍👍 Some people use Shoe Goo, Hot Glue Guns, or a variety of Similar things.... None of them are wrong, really. In my experience, a quality 2-Part Epoxy dries completely, and never gets soft. Also, its Bond is actually STRONGER than the Magnets!! Anyway, that's why I use it. Have fun - it's a Hobby!!! I've just ordered the jlb4 I was thinking of using these first to give the body a bit of lift before trimming the bumpers and hopefully giving the sides a bit more clearance. Great vid thanks.

Great video!!! I am looking at doing this for a hardbody, will have the magnets in the front and hindged in the back. Have you had any issues with the magnets coming off? Have you had any hard roll-overs that have taken the body off?

Thanks man. The only time when they detach is if you have a multiple roll over and even then it only pops off the front or back. Super easy to put back on. I did something similar to your hinged idea on an RC tank and it worked great.

Just few suggestions from my experience .. hot glue doesn't work super glue doesn't work the only thing that works is epoxy resin. Now get rare earth magnets at least 1" anything below that will not hold if you are using body that has somr weight to it .. if you run in water be prepared to clean the magnets each run as they will get covered by dirt and lose their potential.. I like the idea of magnetic mounts unfortunately for scale application these are pretty much useless :( the body comes off if you do anything quick enough or just roll etc. Still better than the old mount I guess but don't expect this to be good, also those magnets get expensive very quickly.

Really like the idea of not putting holes through the body, looms really clean, however since the magnets are glued on the inside, do they come unglued in time as they are glued to the paint basically?

WARINING! The companies that sell these send random polarities! Be sure to test the polarity of each post! If you want to swap bodies, you need to keep the polarities the same. I did not know this until I had already glued a set and ended up with 2 north and 2 south diagonally. Of course you can flip the body magnet as needed before gluing but you can not flip the post magnet because it is recessed on one side for the screw. Check before you glue and maintain a consistent polarity.
