At 3:47 he is picking the birds possibly wrapped in a cloth bag and quickly putting it in the basket before putting the basket on the ground. Before revealing the birds, he is taking the birds out of the bag under the sheet. Amazing skill. So quick.

Maybe they were so trust worthy society that never learned the attitude to hide there abilities in name of Saftey. Hence they were innocent, the clever ness of British Raj and east India company took it as business and made it a street show in London. That made the skills of using other’s skills and turn it into a profit . May be Indians keep believing coz of their innocence but then deceived and kept being looted. First of all you can still find amazing magic in every country including India. However as I understand it there was a period where they cracked down on street performers in India which drove many of the ancient traditions which had been passed down from father to son out of business or into slums. Also culturally the Indian gov. tried to push for more of a materialistic and scientific focus away from India’s historic mysticism. This shift cast a negative light on wonder workers and fakir’s and god men. However it can still be found, it’s just not everywhere.
