India was world famous for this magic about centuries ago. The trick was forgotten and no body could do it for centuries. It was been reinvented, great Job !.

Achal Dhir However, legend has it that a famous magician from long ago..used to only do this trick on cloudy days with low hanging clouds in the sky. Supposedly, the rope would go so high as to disappear into the cloud cover. The boy climbing the rope would climb so high that..he too would disappear into the cloud cover. Then the crowd below would hear a loud booming voice from the sky yell at the boy.."WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY CASTLE"! And then, body parts with the boy's clothing would begin falling from the clouds to the ground with a thump. Just as the crowd would begin to scream..the boy..unhurt would come sliding down the rope..showing that he was fine and the body parts were fake. As the boy would begin to take his bows..the rope would fall from the sky into a heap on the ground. I would love to see someone repeat this version of legend!!

It is said that kid or man used to disappear on top and body segments meat chunks would fall down....... After some time the disappearing boy/man would present himself from behind spectators. (this is what i have read sumwhere - INDIAN ROPE TRICK=.

The rope is an empty tube, the basket is placed on the top cover of a 4' empty cave. The assistant hidden underneath opens the bottom cover of the basket and sticks a rod inside the empty rope. The rod is like the (photo) selfie rod which can be shortened or extended (by twisted & locked the sections). Audiences are not allowed to examine the spot where the basket is put on.

Its funny when people trying to expose it as a trick, when its already a trick.

I didn't know this magician, but the core of the presentation is also the same I've watched perform to others hindu magicians. And as is in all of them, the "trick" is exactly the same. Cheers, John.

The bottom of the basket has a hole in the centre. There is a plastic pipe pushed up from underground. Did you notice the band at the top closing the hollow rope and the assistant carefully concealed the bottom so you cannot see it is hollow and open on the bottom.

Hey.. what you mean; "this is called magic" all magic's are same this like.

The trick is having a large snake, probably an elderly cobra, inside the rope. Any1 who knows about snakes knows it's a snake inside the rope!!!

I agree. And I've read in the original version the boy climbs up the rope and vanishes at the top. I guess you can't film hypnosis. I do believe hypnosis is involved.

Crowd is amateur

A hole at the bottom of the basket covered by a flimsy material of the same as of the basket. A hollowed rope. Underground assistant waiting to thrust a stiff pipe into the rope which he does when the first assistant passes over to him and bingo the rope rises with a stiff pole inside it. Then the pipe is removed giving the impression of rope becoming flexible once more! Very easy trick and all the rest is nonsense!

මේක මැජික් එකක් මම දන්නව කරපු විදිහ 100% ක් ඒත් කියන්නෙ නෑ මිනිසුන්ගෙ වින්දනය නැතිවෙන නිසා...

its not bad performance of this illusion I still think its funny even in India its 6 minutes of dancing around to a 4 minute illusion . if it is so that this is the true performance of the famous India rope of legion then the story have been over done as story goes the boy climbs the rope as the magician follows him up there with a knife he cuts the young boy to pieces dropping the parts the to earth. Someone puts the parts in the basket and puts the lid on with a wave the boy comes out of basket whole once again . and then at end the ropes drops

At time 5:20 to 6:03... the magician shows the rope.... Carefully see the two edges of the rope.... This is completely different rope which raised .... At the time 8:50 when rope comes down abiding by the command of magician ...... One edge looks little same but the another edge is completely different .... One of his assistants hold that different looking edge with his left palm to cover the hole of the rope. That was a different hollow rope .... From underground chamber one of his assistants raises the rope which is ready made, that means that rope was ready earlier by putting a hard stic or metal rod through the hollow rope. The magician shows the first rope and keeps it inside the basket. This rope is there in the basket or pulled in to the underground chamber. Basket has a hole with cover in the center bottom of it. From this hole his assistant raises a new rope consisting metal rod or a hard long stick. Please carefully see the timings mentioned here... trick will be revealed. Regards

Still it it very hard for man in celler to raise and hold still a 15feet long rod with 50kg wt. On end.....i feel it is being raised with invisible /transparent wire tied on one hand, powder sprinkled to cover that snapping on order.

yes 7:51 there r 2 more paraller poles near with same height i think rope is hoisted like a flag by a assistant hidig behind tree in dark corner bcz diggig u derground chamber and building a room takes time and cost hoisting is easier and cost effective
