There was a moment when Aladino referred to a "cow herder" and in my mind, translated to American, that's cowboy. Never though about it that way before. The "farmers life for me" was amusing as well.

On a stressful day, watching this peaceful episode brought me back to the years when we spent much of our time sailing in BC and restored my inner peace. We gave up sailing to restore an old family farm on the Greek island of Ikaria, where we now live half the year. I have no regrets, but it's wonderful to be brought back to that time. As I write this, I'm looking out my window at Howe Sound and mellowing out.

Marstrand is awesome, but only off season imo. The weather hits and the tourists are gone, then the beauty of the sea and rocks colliding is shown, with the fortress as a cherry on top of it all, it comes together. It's a great place to write and play music.

I think that while you are in the archipelago outside Gothenburg you should try learning some of the local music. Maybe Lasse Dahlquist's "De' ä dans på Brännö brygga" would be a good introduction, but let me explain why: Brännö is an island outside Gothenburg, position 57°38.683'N 11°46.496'E, around 20NM away from Marstrand, following the fairway. The title of the song means "There's a dance at Brännö quay". This was a social must for many people, more-so the more remotely you lived. And Brännö is quite remote. Not necessarily in distance, but at least in the effort required to travel many years ago (the song was published in 1941). So the dances on Brännö brygga could be popular with the locals, and those on the neighbouring islands who could get there. There had been dancing at this particular quay for many years before it was chopped up in the 1960's, to be replaced with a newer quay, but this has not stopped the dancing. Lasse Dahlquist spent a good part of his life, particularly his childhood, in Gothenburg.

I live in Gothenburg on the Swedish west coast and had my own sailing boat for a short while. Sailed to/passed Marstrand twice I think. Lovely to see other people enjoy this part of the world. Also makes me miss having a sailing boat but I plan on renting one maybe next summer. When I owned one, I spent more time on maintenance than on sailing itself so better to rent one every once in a while and watch some sailing on KZread in the meantime 😊

Marstrand is just like 10 nm nw from Björlanda-Kile, one of Swedens largest harbours, and home to just about 2800 pleasure crafts, among them the "Joli Rouge", a fairly decent Polca 28, trying to become a floating retirement plan in just about ten to twelve years;) Swedish archipelagos are truly blessed once the winds and the weather decides to cooperate. Seems like you already know:) Glad to be able to participate in your travels, you´re doing a wonderful job - Keep it up ´N fair winds to ya`ll! Best wishes from Cap´n Morgan

Maya and Aladino! My name is Sergey. I used to be your patreon but when Russia started this war against Ukraine I can not be a patreon - my card is blocked due to restrictions. I am from Russia. And I want to say that you are doing great things showing people your videos. Your stories, your lifestyle, your work on Magic Carpet 2 are amazing. It’s getting more and more hard to stay here because of this war, because of all those people in this country, who are supporting thit war. I have a lot of relatives in Ukraine, my mother is from Ukraine, my cousins are in Ukrainian army now. So I started thinking of leaving Russia. I am an air traffic controller in Moscow but as a hobby I am building sail boats in shed. Two of them are made by now and were successfully tested at Black Sea. They are only 12 feet long. The third one is much bigger - 16 feet but it is under construction. It is a Catboat. I would appreciate it if you share contacts of boatyards you know in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Sweden or maybe somewhere else. Or maybe you know someone who can give me useful contacts. I want to apply for a job on boatyard. If you want I will show you photos of my boats

When I learned to sail about 60 years ago in exactly the waters you are in right now (in the video), you always sailed in to small islands (and harbours), you first made a short trip along the shoreline to find a good place to moor, then you sailed out and took down the mainsail, put a stern anchor into the sea and calmly sailed in to the anchorage with the help of the foresail. When you were almost there, you released the sail and glide the boat in place with the help of the anchor line used as a break. That is why Swedes always dock with the bow towards the island. It is much easier than reversing the boat in place with just sails. ;-) Try it! 😊

Nice to see my neighbourhood, Marstrand. I live just a couple of km east of Marstrand and visit it once or twice a week. In winter it is really calm here with no tourists. We have now 5-10 cm snow, -5 degrees C in the air, but +6 in the water so it will take a long time to get any ice, if any. Only two restaurants are open during the winter, "Marstrand Pizzeria" (where I had lunch yesterday 9th of December) and the large hotel, "Marstrands Havshotell", plus a hamburger stand at the ferry terminal, all on Koön ("Cow island"), not on the Marstrand Island itself.

An even more beautiful episode than the last one! I don’t know how y’all did it, but the violin and videography for this one being so spectacular probably had something to do with it. Between the sunset sailing and the Camcorder Bit at the end, this episode managed to perfectly capture the feeling of summer. Also, Fun Fact: Farmer’s Tans used to be called Sailor’s Tans in nautical areas, and it seems Aladino is bringing the etymology back! Jokes aside, I can’t wait for the next one and keep doing what y’all do cause it’s amazing, -J
