    Some day I will buy unbleached muslin, but now I can live with my Ikea shower curtains based diffusion kit - for 5$ :P

    Hey there, new here. Cool video. I like the look of both. Interesting to consider. Might have been cool if you did the explanation from the sample position. The whole time I was wondering what you were using for lighting for the talking head. By the end I realized it must be a separate softbox, maybe? Did I miss that explanation?

    I tried to show the set up from the BTS footage. The key is the 4x4 but the source is the Nanlite Pavoslim 1x2 bi-color with the diffusion as a "break" before hitting the 4x4 which becomes the key.

    Nice to see these two side-by-side. The warming effect of that unbleached muslin is so strong in direct comparison. Thanks for this Jem!

    Yeah. It’s a great modifier but definitely not for everything whereas magic cloth could be used on almost anything.

    I love 1/2 silent grid. I carry a 6x6 Matthews tag of it almost everywhere I go. So light and I can drape between two C-Stands if I don’t need to angle it.

    Did I blink and miss the side by side comparison between the 2 cloths? It would be interesting to see a meter test on using a cloth as a bounce compared to a solid white bounce source.

    It's from about 6:11 to 6:28 where I play them back to back. I don't do a true side by side.

    If you correct the temp to 5600 in post, do they look the same? one softer than the other?

  • @theC47

    @theC47

    Color temp might match overall but quality of light is different based on the rag/modifier.

    Is there a difference when changing the whitebalance?

  • @theC47

    @theC47

    Yes. The quality of light is different and one is inherently warmer than the other.
