Magic Chef 12volt fridge

These 12 volt refrigerator units are becoming the standard go to as their installation is easy, theyre almost no maintenance, and they can be used while towing. It doesn't mean it is good for all people but for many this is the way to go.

Would you know where I could get the shelves as parts? Thx.

Your local service dealer should be able to source from the manufacturer(s). Have you called them yet?

Thanks for your video! We just purchased a 2022 E-Pro 19FD. We paid for it yesterday and will take it home whenever the snow melts here in Minnesota (late March?). So in the mean time, I am watching a lot of videos like yours to learn about my systems and appliances. We mostly boondock, so I'm trying to learn how long the fridge will run on two group 24 batteries and the 190W solar panel. Have you tested the Fridge on just batteries and solar?

Me and my wife have not pressed the solar and battery setup YET but plan to towards the end of this year. The solar charge controller can handle ALOT more power than what it comes factory installed. Definitely load up your battery bank for your length of time.

@@DapperRV Thanks for the reply! We have lots of "Plan B's" in place in case we are short on the solar and battery power. We have a 2000W inverter generator and also own a Jackery 1000 that is capable of topping off our 19FD batteries. I would like be able to only rely on the solar and eliminate the generator all together. I will know a lot more after I bring the 19FD home and give the solar a real world workout.

We have a Magic chef rv 12v frig similar to the one in your video. I have noticed some white dust/flakes that the frig is giving off inside after we dewinterized and turned it on. Have you seen this at all? What can I do to prevent it?

Not sure what or how it would be creating a white dust/flake. I turn it to low as there is no way to fully turn mine off without pulling the fuse. I only have mine winterized from the end of Nov thru end of Feb

I have a magic chef RV fridge, but can't find where the settings for gas, electric or auto are.

Wasn't aware that Magic Chef was making anything besides a 12volt fridge. You have the large access panels on the exterior of your camper for the propane to exhaust by?

@@DapperRV I don't really know. I have never owned an RV before. I bought one to escape an abusive husband. A friend told me that all RVs had duel power refrigerators. So, maybe this one is only electric which would be useless for off grid. I have propane heat and hot water and I've been told over and over that the fridge should switch to propane when there is a power outage. Thanks.

The 12volt fridges are made for off grid as they have benefits beyond the dual versions: no exterior holes to keep critters out of, no gas exhaust to worry about, doesn't have to be turned off while towing, doesn't have to be completely level to work, and gets down to temperature faster, larger depth than dual fridge, and lastly easier to service/repair. If you have a 12volt then all you need to do is make sure your battery stays charged. When you lose shore/main power the fridge will run off the battery for a long time.

@@DapperRV It didn't work with the last power outages. My overhead lights worked, but not the fridge.

Sorry to hear that. Reach out to your local service dept and see if they can first confirm what you have (ideally have the camper there at the dealership but often they'll take pictures) then why it would not remain on. A 12volt would keep running...
