This happens to so many Toyota cars because people have always been told: You buy a Toyota and the only thing you have to do is put gas and change the oil, and that is exactly what they do, then you have neglected maintenance like in this Camry

You are talking about me. My 2003 Tacoma 280,000 Miles has original coolant and brake fluid. All the belts are original too. I couldn’t get “CRC mass air flow sensor cleaner “ anywhere these days. No Walmart, AutoZone, nor O’Reilly. So I am using something else O’Reilly guy recommended “Lectra Clean 3000” even though the can says “ Not for Automotive use”.

On my 2000 Corolla, this is easy to access an remove for cleaning. Use ONLY electronics cleaner spray ... NOT brake cleaner. The 2 small screws that hold the MAFS on are going into plastic, so be careful and loosen the screws to remove them with fingers and do NOT drop the screws. Set them aside safely for re-install. Do NOT forget the inside 2 wires to clean that are unseen inside the 'barrel' ! Clean them too ...and a MAF Sensor ic cheap to buy ... much like a PCV valve is cheap and easy to replace...

NOTE : Remove the O Ring before cleaning. The spray / chemical can cause the O ring to swell making the O ring very difficult to go back into the intake port. Use a small pick - carefully remove the O ring. Clean the MAF - dry and reinstall the O ring. Preferably wipe a thin layer of silicone grease on the O ring before re installation.

What a great video. My mass airflow sensor went bad because a stinkin squirrel made a nest inside my engine compartment of my brand new Toyota 4Runner and shoot through the wiring harness leading to the mass air sensor. I drove the car for a little over a month with a bad sensor and that made my mixture bad and dirty the heck out of my sensor. I had to buy a new connector and rewire it myself which wasn't that big of a deal but it still didn't fix it until I clean the mass air sensor. Just a note that you can have for yourself and give to your subscribers is how to keep squirrels out of your engine compartment. Buy some peppermint essential oil and put it in a spray bottle with water about 40 drops per 16 oz of water or a liter maybe is what you call it. Spray it all around your engine compartment and the squirrels will stay away. It works very well but you can't drive your car for about 10 minutes until that oil dries because your engine doesn't like burning peppermint oil
