Thank you for another enjoyable and balanced review!
Great review Peter. I just placed an order for the Hudson Mk4 Jet Black Quartz. Haven't received it yet as it is on pre-order, but from what I can see has to be by far the best value for money watch out there, certainly for under $500. Might be an interesting video...
Love the proliferation of GMTs that are available! It appears to be a solid piece. GMTs should really have a 24- or 48-click bezel. Love to see it with a true GMT movement though!
I have the Maen Hudson Mk IV Diver and I love it. Great value for the money. I now have my eye on their new chronograph
Great video, Peter. I think Maen make great looking watches.
Love your review! 1 thing needs to be verified: single dome on the prototype as we all see in the video but the Maen website states that it is a double dome sapphire. Single dome is a deal breaker to me but if it is truly a double dome sapphire I would go for it. Just that i have a hard time choosing either rootbeer or steel bezel inserts.
Maen have hit it outta the park with this one. I have a Hudson 38 and yes the sapphire crystal could do with some anti-reflective and so I guess things have not changed there. All in all a great looking watch and a very cool company. Oh and Pete, cool review mate.

That is a stunning watch, Pete. Your photography is outstanding and highlights the subtlety of the colours very well. I am in the market for a GMT but, as I already have an Office GMT, I am looking to add a Traveller. Other than that, this ticks all the boxes.

i love Maen as a brand…they seems to know what they are doing, knows their target market…..
LOVE the yellow GMT hand
Love the granular Calatrava dial. Strong package
Hi Pete, great video as usual. This is the best MAEN yet. I think it would look better if the bracelet was fully brushed. Not sure about the semi onion crown but nicely proportioned. Shame the GMT settling does not click each position by the hour. It does remind me of the Rotary Henley. And the GMT hand looks like it was borrowed from the Christopher Ward Trident GMT. Overall, a good looking piece.
Nice looking watch. I like the distortion, particularly with the different finishes. Keep up the good work.

Great watch Petraki. Thanks for the review bratko. I don't mind the understated muted colours on the bezel, which gives it the retro vintage (I suppose the weathered) feeling, but I do think I prefer a nice bright pepsi bezel, to make it feel like, you know a fun summer watch. Pozdravi
Very beautiful watch, another impressive example of what microbrands are capable of. The Soprod is a very interesting and I believe a very very good and reliable movement.
Nice watch Pete and the cons you've mentioned, excluding price, since this is not the production model, am sure they'll sort them out. When a new micro brand comes out, apart from movement and functions/functionality and finishing, the price is a key point. There are plenty of micro brands that already established a solid name by offering top quality product at affordable pricing. Not saying it's current price is over the top, however there are so many well executed watches from micro brands out there that offer the same standard product at lower price. I see a Rolex, Tudor and Omega tones on the case and the bracelet has some Japanese lines altho the clasp feels like Omega. Overall a nice watch and given I know more or less your wrist size, I'd say it has a good wrist presence. Would I go for the pre order, no but I would like to see a production model. Thanks for the review and for showing us this brand Pete, stat safe.
I recently purchased the new Maen Hudson 38 MK4 - Jet Black with no date. The non-GMT version of this one. Absolutely amazing watch. I'd take it for the $500 mark over a Monta for well over a grand or two. They seem to sell out usually as well.

An interesting company I havent heard of before I really love how many of their watches make use of the dual timezone bezel from what I looked like on their website thank you for the introduction to them!

Oh wow this immediately caught my eye
Beautifully finished watch with 300meters, very nice. I think the price is probably reasonable considering the quality of the complete package. I noticed you said "anti clockwise," here in the US we say "counter clockwise." Another very good video from you Pete! Thanks!
I'm in love!
Stunning looking watch with very vintage looks. It looks very comfy, especially the way it sits on your wrist. I love the dial. To be honest, with the doming and distortion, it really harks of more vintage looks and function and to be honest, I don’t mind so much. Shame the GMT bezel is uni-directional. The size of the watch is just about perfect. One thing that stood out as a downside was the logo and text. It really cheapened the look from an otherwise near perfect timepiece.
Excellent review!

Excellent review, nice watch Congratulations Peter 👏
Apart from the brand name itself, looks promising.
Hi Peter. Looks really well made. If it's not a diver (no lume pip on the bezel), Maen should try to fit in a bi-directional bezel for the GMT function. Unidirectional bezel is a more appropriate feature for a dive watch. Overall, nice effort from Maen 👍
@PeterKotsa

Yeah I considered that as well Ideally a bi-directional makes more sense here
Well, well! coming on the 40K Subs mark! ... hope you hit it soon and hope you have continued success my friend 😃👍🏼 Thanks for sharing this MAEN watch. Seems to be nice and simple as well as it seems to be well built. One item I find "strange" however is that, for a GMT, shouldn't the bezel be bi-directional? If you change the time zone to move forward, you need to turn in the other direction nearly a complete turn ... just thinking out loud.
@PeterKotsa

Yeah I agree, a unidirectional bezel makes more sense for sure Cheers bro, be well 🙏
Nice size for GMT
Mate what a stunner! One thing I always look at is the transision lines for a sign of attention to detail and quality. 👍
Great size, great specs and beautifully finished
oh men!! i mean maen. that's a good looking watch.
I really wish more manufacturers would reduce the gap between the bracelet and the clasp.
the MK4 diver is a stunner, so not surprised by this one. Wish there were a couple more bezel/dial options, but its a good start. Biggest setback on these is not utilizing a bi-directional bezel
It's handsome. Like the color tones on this one and overall design and proportions are nice. I've heard mixed things about their products, however.. I seem to recall some issues with their skymaster? Is that it? I forget the exact name, the auto chronograph. Anyways, hope all is worked out these days.
Beautiful piece thankfully it's too small for me lol GS vibes for sure 👌

@@david12990 I’m not sure any have even entered New Zealand yet. I think im going to hold out till I can get my Tudor.
I was looking for a (relatively) thin smaller dive watch under 1000 and choose the Maen Hudson (then) Mk3. I think, they share many features with this model (case architecture, bracelet, etc). I am really agree with all what you say, the quality is amazing, and it has very pleasant heft and balance on the wrist. It really brings me joy wearing it, it became some kind of reference for me to choose if I really like a watch (regardless of the price, I had some which cost much more, but were just "meh"). I can only recommend Maen Hudson if you are looking for some relatively affordable dive (and now GMT) watch.
Lovely clean looking watch, not a bad price for what you get, not sure about the movement though,I’ll have to do some research Great review Pete 👍

@@PeterKotsa that’s good to know.
Hello Peter, By spending yesterday's afternoons and today's morning this weekend consulting your entire channel, I discovered no less than 24 micro brands that I did not know before. And yet I know between 300 and 400! Internet is just great for that. We can make so many discoveries! Of course, I discovered a lot of brands from the Pacific area : Australia, Philippines, Hong Kong, New Zealand and even South Korea (the first micro brand from Corea I've ever discovered). I was also able to discover that you liked some european micro brands, from Scandinavian, as well as Italian ones. But, and it surprised me, not any French micro brand. However, some are really of high quality, and very well known in Europe. To give you two examples: Baltic and Charlie Paris. Do you know them? I can only encourage you to go and discover them. And, by the way, if you're interested, I have at least fifteen or twenty other French micro brands to mention ... some of which specialize in chronos, for example ;)
Nice watch, great size. I'm really getting tired of all those hockey pucks out there. Drilled lugs would have been nice to have, though.
$675US (roughly) ex-tax is quite fair if the finishing is so good, but I expect a real GMT bezel 😕
Nice enough but looking at the MAEN website, it looks like they do not make watches with a larger diameter than 38mm. Therefore, for us with a larger wrist circumference, there may be limited appeal.
Thank You Peter 🙏 I'm saving to get a Black Bay 58 if I wasn't this would be a good choice .

I like this model but I´m not sure if 38mm is bit small for a proper reading and how it would see in my wrist
The fact that it's rocking a Soprod C125 would have me saying avoid. Soprod is owned by the Fossil Group and its movements are known to be hit or miss.
Great looking watch, but it's a difficult one for me. Ok, great finish, but it should have a bi-directional bezel! It's not a timming feature, but it has a timezone function. I wish they went for a true GMT. For a bit more money, you have Swiss brands with true GMT movement....
Liking this one, 38mm and thin with 300 mt WR? Also really loving the dial and bezel textures, not to mention that brown on the bezel. Definitely a bit steep price wise but it’s definitely a nice package if they correct that lume. Any chance you can throw it on the timegrapher and let us know how the Soprod performs?

I have a 39mm watch like this and although I love its looks, it always looks too small to me on my 7 1/4 inch wrist.

Seems maybe not ready to launch. Taking a gamble on lume and AR upgrade. Nice proportions and bracelet though. They'll sell out I'm sure but not for me- I'm well used to buyer's remorse and at this price point from a microbrand, it needs to be better, or for the average guy this could be heartache. Nice video Pete.
Apart from the 120 click bezel, this is absolute perfection! My prayers have been answered. It's so hard to find three timezone GMTs especially in decent sizes like this. Not even Rolex or Tudor offer this. Looks like the final bezel will have engraved 3D markings and hopefully lumed too, although I'm not holding my breath for the lume.

I would prefer the beautiful Steinhart Ocean 39, cost less than 500 euro, excellent finish and ETA 2824-2 movement , Super Luminova BGW9. Better value for the money.
I don't understand why it has a uni-directional bezel when its a 24 hour bezel insert and it has a GMT function. You can tell they cut corners here and just reused the same bezel as their regular dive watch. I think it is a great spec watch with amazing dimensions, but the uni-directional bezel just kills it for me.
Should use seiko gmt movement and lower the price.
Good looking watch but the font used for the name on the dial and the signed crown is not the most attractive.
Classy looking watch. The aluminium bezel would put me off, they scratch easily, especially on a tool watch. Why not ceramic?☘
has nobodz noticed the "new" non-applied, stamped-out indices?
I think if the AR on the crystal is factored along with the lume, it presents as at least further consideration; how would you compare to the offering from Tuseno? Good review on a pre production example Pete

Why put a unidirectional bezel on a GMT?
One I'll very strongly have to consider when it launches for real, after they've hopefully worked out the kinks. Luckily that'll give me time to make some space in my collection for it. This is the GMT I wished Tudor made, for a fraction of the price.
This is a do it all watch.
this and the quartz grand seiko steals the bracelet from the omega 2264.50.00

Beautifully well finished watch for the money. When are MAEN going to make their watches with 40mm cases?
Sitting comfortably to you looks way too small too me! The object of a watch is reading the time quickly. The trend to tiny fashion watches will never get my business! To each there own. Same with a GMT always ruins the symmetry on every dial it’s on! I will never understand the demand for those. I understand this will be great for many but I just want to post my opinion so hopefully companies will make more 2 size watches in the future. Zelos just did! PS love the textured dial and large crown.
that bezel ugh....
Don't like the way everything is pressed on that dial, just looks kind of plasticy. The bezel belongs on a dive watch, a gmt should be bidirectional.
The color of the insert seems more of black and root beer
A couple of days ago I got my 38mm no date Hudson diver. It runs 20+ seconds fast per day, The crown requires superhuman strenght to screw down and the lume is pretty much nonexistant. Would not recommend!!!
@PeterKotsa

@@PeterKotsa Yes, I wrote several emails. The response on the crown was "put some oil on it :))))))), and the response on the +20s per day running (several positions on the timegrapher) was "It is within spec!" First, I do not think it is normal to oil a brand new watch, and second, the RONDA might be within spec, but when my 50$ Vostok Amphibia runs better than that, it sure raises a lot of questions. So, yeah, I was left with a +20s fast running watch, oiling the crown stem and as for the lume..they said nothing about it being so weak. In general, the watch is well finished, but It is definately fy first and last MAEN:)
