Madrid, Spain | Smith Family Travelogue

My family of six is traveling in Southern Europe for five weeks and this is our travelogue! I’m recording the places we visit, foods we eat, things we do, plus some tips for family-friendly travel. Here is a list of books we read before we left (and some we plan to read afterwards!)

We had four full days in Madrid, and of course we could have spent a couple weeks exploring this city! In this video I share what we did as a family, what my kids enjoyed (and what they did not), where we stayed, and some things we learned along the way.
I’ll post a video for each city we visit, from Spain all the way to Turkey 🚆

What an amazing trip you are taking. Thank you for sharing -- I feel like I am there with you without walking the 5-7 miles daily!

Love this! I would LOVE to incorporate world travel into our homeschool. How do you handle the time changes and helping such little ones shift their sleep schedules?

Traveling is such an amazing part of learning! My kids get much more interested in subjects when they experience them firsthand. I wish I had more tips to offer on time changes and sleep. What we’ve done is give them a tiny bit of melatonin (.5 gram for older kids) for the first few nights. And I try to get them out first thing morning and in the sunshine to help establish a new circadian rhythm.
