Go for it!!! I study abroad when I was in college. I went to Madrid for 1 semester and stayed for 3 years BEST TIME OF MY LIFE. I toured many European countries/ cities, but Madrid adopted me. As they say, “DE MADRID A EL CIELO” which means, FROM MADRID TO HEAVEN! Salutations!
Heck yeah, Rick Steves!!!! Wow I would love to go here. Absolutely brilliantly beautiful and astounding. King Philip II sounds like a great patron of the arts
it is a great monument . worth visiting and unforgottable .

El Escorial is not really a Palace. Its really a huge Monastery with small royal residence attached.

It looks more impressive than the already impressive Royal Palace in Madrid. El Escorial seems analogous to Windsor Castle, which seems more impressive than Buckingham Palace.
