She's an artist. Not just a singer/vocalist like Celine Dion or Whitney Houston. She's a songwriter, dancer, producer, actress etc. She has such a unique and recognizable voice. When you listen to a one of her songs at the radio you know it's her!! She could be not the best singer ever but she's still so good and she never pretended to be the best ...

@tmcurly I really like music, I sing too and I m very critic for songs and voice features, but funny is that I fell in love with her voice when I was a teenager when I heard her singing for 10 seconds at TV, and I never stoped loving her! 😂 I’m 41 and she’s still my favorite! She’s a universe for discover and amazed! There will never be another Madonna! She doesn’t has the vocal range of so many, but the beauty of voice is not only about range, but the tone! She’s unique ❤and she’s SO smart that she could hit people in completely diferent genarations!

The audio in the DVD is not live audio though... the original audio was replaced with studio versions, same as with every tour concert videos she's released these years.

Madonna is an artist. Not just a singer. Comparing Madonna with other singers implies considering the whole concept that she has. And if you see other singers round there, no one is like Madonna. Many singers are able to have good vocal and voices, but just one has the creativity to create a huge artistic universe as Madonna has been doing over almost 4 decades. The "Artist Label" is loosely applied nowadays to any soul without a hint of talent. I believe Madonna is a hard working woman who deserves her fame and fortune because she fought for it, but a singing talent she is not.

People cannot accept the fact that Madonna is one of the very few well rounded artists. Usually one has ok vocals, but dances great or they have amazing vocals and can't dance at all. Madonna is really good at both and still makes the best concerts I've ever seen.

I've always liked Madonna's vocals. Agreed she isn't a technically strong singer but her voice has a distinctive character and can convey vulnerability and warmth. Her lower register is good and she "tells a story" well. A lot of the "anything you can sing I can sing louder" singers are quite boring after a while. Like they are perpetually doing vocal exercises. Old Madge has charm despite the odd dodgy note. She created her unique vocal style much the same way as Bowie, Mick Jagger, Neil Tennant and even Jarvis Cocker did all singers who are instantly recognisable.

Madonna sings very well when she can use her breath for singing, it’s awfully hard to sing while in the middle of an aerobics routine which is pretty much how much energy is exerted during her dance numbers. I’ve always liked her voice 💜

It's funny, Madonna was never a "bad" singer. Untrained for the most part, and not on the level of some of her contemporaries. But she knew her limits and did her absolute best to work within those limits, she was able to sing in-tune and had a personality that could transcend her more limited range. She was good enough to play Evita, which I think says a lot about how underrated she is.

She can sing. Some of the songs she sang (i.e. "Sooner or Later", "You Must Love Me", "Ray of Light", "Lament" et al.) were not easy songs to sing but she pulled it through. She has such a unique voice with a rich vocal quality and quite emotive.

She doesn’t get the credit she deserves. Her ability to portray the emotion of a song is really amazing.

Beautiful voice, Best costumes. Kick ass choreography. Perfect showmanship. Gorgeous. Iconic.

No one sounds like her and with the right song she can really sing. Ray of Light is such a difficult song yet she nailed it and and made a powerful incredible vocal performance. Sooner or Later and Lament are also great performances through which she showed off her vocals. "You'll See" live is surprisingly missing, one of her best ever. Another positive thing about Madonna's singing is her interpretative skills, she conveys the meaning of a song better than the most skilled vocalists.

remember what she said in Truth or Dare....she knows she isn't the best singer or dancer and she isn't interested in that. she's interested in being provocative and pushing people's buttons.

Several years later, she actually bested herself with yet another acclaimed performance of an Oscar-WINNING song, this time in her late 30s and performing arguably the most vocally demanding song of her entire catalog! The former was included in the above video, which you clearly did not watch and instead chose to spread your flagrantly ignorant suppositions about the merits of her career and not bother to absorb FACTS through historical observation! I got news for ya, kid: EVERYONE'S VOICE AGES! INCLUDING SINGERS! IN MANY WAYS, ESPECIALLY SINGERS! Consider all that extra touring and live promotional appearances at the prime of their public profile and the added strain that puts on their vocal cords! Add in the fact that many professional singers, for various reasons, do not tend to take care of their voice as much as they should as the years go on (Prime Example: Whitney MUTHA FUCKIN' HOUSTON!). Plus, add in the cruel nature of TIME! Note the toll that it takes on EVERYONE, including their vocal cords! Hell, I just watched a video clip of Aretha in a scene from Blues Brothers 2000 (released in '98, in her mid 50s) performing her classic "Respect" & she sounded GOD FUCKIN AWFUL compared to her original rendition, recorded & performed 3 DECADES earlier in her 20s! Her voice was visibly eroded & she was singing in an unfavorable range, as compared to her flawless vocal performance in the original film released 18 YEARS earlier in her late 30s! CLEARLY, she is not on the same level vocally as she once was, and the erosion has been increasingly noticeable in the years since, further evidenced by her performance at Obama's '09 inauguration (well into her 60s) and at another White House appearance just a few years back (well into her 70s) for a raped feral cat-style vocal rendition of "I Never Loved a Man..." . She also attended the American Dance Festival in NC. She also managed to actually be hired to perform as a featured or backup dancer in modern dance troupes and for other professional music artists! And oh yeah, she managed to form 2 different ROCK bands where she played multiple instruments and sang lead between the 2 of them! And did I neglect to mention that she is the either the sole, primary, or co-songwriter of most of her songs? As well as a co-producer of the majority of them! A fact well corroborated and documented by her collaborators and peers! One does not amass those kinds of accomplishments or earn that kind of reputation without even a MODICUM of talent or natural ability to coincide with a mountain of passion, hard work, and determination! ALL of those things combined are what made Madonna into the iconic star that she is today! Get over it! "Mediocre music?!" That's nothing but pure inflammatory tripe disguised as subjective interjection! Try telling that to the radio stations that continue to play her classic throwbacks! Try telling that to the clubs that continue to spin her tracks, new and old! The best thing about Madonna's singing is that she is vocally versatile and her every other song sounds different vocally that makes her unique singer from others. She is amazingly versatile singer ..she had given wide variety of songs like Like a prayer, You"ll see, Papa don't preach ,sooner or later,Take a bow,Ray of light,Promise to try,Justify my love,Vogue, hung up,miles away,ghosttown,express yourself, True blue,La isla bonita ,time stood still, Masterpiece ,candy shop ..etc..omg the list is endless.If your those songs you will come to know that her tonal quality is different in every song and therefore Madonna is my Icon. She has a very special and unique voice. There is no pop artist in the world who use his/her voice as differently as she does. Listen to Ray of Light and Erotica, you will understand. If you want to hear an opera-like voice listen to Evita. If you want to hear an strong voice listen to True Blue and Like a Prayer.

You don't even have to do that - you can listen to MDNA or Rebel Heart and hear different "voices" from one song to another. She's begun experimenting, and some of the songs on those albums don't sound anything like "Madonna" at all - if you played them for people, they would never guess it was her.

Agreed. She has a unique voice and she's not afraid to use it. What I admire about her is that she always strives to be better; to improve her voice and go where no one has dared to go before, vocally. I give her props for that.

People need to understand that just because you’re not a powerhouse vocalist, doesn’t mean you’re not talented nor should be discredited as such. Madonna is still talented in her own right and people need to leave it at that.

What I love about her voice is that it’s unique. You can recognize it instantly, and I like that she has her ‘mistakes’. I love her deeper voice. She’s a great singer and artist, just not a vocalist and I’m glad she’s not just famous for her voice.

What a great video. She is so full of emotion in every performance.

Madonna's vocal quality significantly improved after her evita stint, ray of light is proof of it, vocally, it's one of her most amazing albums in my opinion.

She often is seen as a bad vocalist by people who have never been to her shows & only base it on recordings where she favours often a very processed sound or because they pure & simply resent her for everything she is 💜

I´m aware she doesn´t have what people, specially critics, normally call "great voice", but she has a unique voice that you can easily recognize everytime she releases a new song, and unlike the "great voices", Madonna has improved over time, besides she´s not just a singer, she´s a complete artist, in fact she´s the meaning of artist. She stills makes wonderful songs, the album "Rebel Heart" is the proof, unfortunately her age seems to be a problem in music industry.

It’s funny cause ppl say her vocals aren’t great, yet no one has covered a Madonna song better than the original.

I hope she one day performs "Rescue Me" live!!

She is more than a singer, so multi talented.

Whether she is good or bad, this woman has been graced with the brains and the talent to perform ultra well. She's the leader of the pack. She's my favourite Little drummer girl!

Her vocals aren't the strongest but it doesn't matter. Her voice has a very pleasant timbre, kind of vulnerable and raw. You feel like she's making you privy to her deepest feelings when she sings because of the emotion in her voice. That's part of her appeal.

Madonna has the unique power in her voice to touch your soul. No Mariah, Celine or Beyonce has that power.

Her voice is distinctive and amazing! She can sing anything! The talent and the charisma and the moves and dancing at the same time! The best! ❤️

I don’t know another singer today who has such a melodic voice with such a good timbre and a wide range. Others maybe have more powerful voices but not so deeply tuneful. More powerful is not more beautiful. Madonna I 💙 you!!!

Madonna is a very Talented Vocalist. She gets compared to Women like Whitney and Mariah when people want to try to discredit her talent. To me it just shows how desperate they are. They choose very specific types of singers who are only good at one thing as a basis for comparison. Trying hard to knock the versatile genre/hoping ability of Madonna by not addressing that ability of hers

It's because she simply couldn't handle more technically challenging material. Another singer who doesn't engage in vocal acrobatics is Vanessa Williams; yet her vocal technique is superior to Madonna's, and she's a much classier act, too.

La principal razón por la cual Madonna no se puede comparar con otros artistas, es principalmente porque ella se reinventa, se adapta a los nuevos tiempos, refresca su estética, sus conceptos, y la mejor parte es que cada disco tiene algo que lo hace único, siempre ofrece algo nuevo y añade elementos a su repertorio en cuanto al género musical, es una artista en su totalidad. Todo esto en contraste con otros artistas que siempre tienen el mismo concepto, la misma música y la misma imagen en decadencia a lo largo de décadas, viviendo sólo de los singles que les dieron un mínimo aire de gloria.

I think she’s so good. I don’t get this “Madonna can’t sing” thing people say. Is it because “good singing” is associated with screaming loudly? You don’t have to be a scream queen to have an attractive voice, does anybody else agree? I feel like people have become such music elitists now, guilt tripping people into hating on any singer who isn’t Adele or Ariana. It’s getting old now.

this is the thing, females stars like Beyonce, Gaga, Mariah carey, and the rest always want to show you high notes, over and over... but MADONNA is not for that, she is telling you something when she is singing, something that high notes cannot touch and is the heart :)
