Props to Madonna. I used to not think much her because I thought she was fake and trying too hard to be relevant. But I couldn't have been more wrong in my opinion. What I found is that because she acts younger, people actually treat her younger. Most other female celebrities around her age tend to age gracefully (which I also have massive respect for) but they tend to get very boring questions about being older and the public perceive them differently. But not Madonna, they ask her questions about dating, her current performances (not her performances from the past) and fashion, and let her do crazy things like this. She hasn't let anyone typecast her. I guess what I'm saying is I get where she's coming from in treating youth as a state of mind, and I hope to be half as vivacious and fabulous as her when I'm her age.

You guys need to lighten up. She knows that she isn't a standup comedian. She was just having fun. I'm going to let you in on a secret: The main joke here was that her jokes weren't funny. Besides, I think it's kind of cute to see Madonna so nervous and awkward.

So if any of you ever feel bad about showing nervousness or botching something out of being nervous, just remember: Madonna has been a public figure since she was like 20, and she just showed insane nervousness in front of a studio audience of less than a hundred. Take it easy on yourself 😂

This was meant to be silly. Can't you see that? Madonna has liking for irony. It was meant to be "bad". She was playing the character of a "bombing comedian". It's a humorous side of her that she rarely shows and I am happy she shared that with us all. She does it brilliantly.

Jeremy Crum This whole thing was rehearsed numerous times, as Madonna does with everything. The joke was it was meant to be "bad". This is exactly how Madonna wanted it to come across, she has a very ironic sense of humour. She is professional enough to be able to hide any nerves better than this, it was intentional.

+firebaby7 I've been a Madonna fan since 1983, so this is hard for me to admit, but Madonna's narcissistic personality disorder has never been more evident than it has been the past couple years. Here, she plays not to the audience, but to herself. Some of these jokes could have been a bit funny IF she would have set up the scenario so everyone would be on the same page. Instead, she assumes everyone knows she was friends with Andy Warhol and that she collects (very expensive) art by many of the masters. However, the worst "joke" of all was the one about asking her son (who is only 14 years old) if he has any friends she can date. In essence, she is making a joke about her potentially being a pedophile. Now I'm pretty sure Madonna is not a pedophile. However, that joke and her others really needed to be properly vetted. Instead of that, couldn't she have made a "Jesus, Mary & Joseph!" joke based on Jesus Luz - a 20-something model she dated a few years back? Granted, this too would be a bad joke, but it doesn't evoke the same level of "Ewwww" that dating one of her 14 year old son's friends does. Madonna herself knows she's a narcissist and has even sung about it. There is no treatment for it. For a narcissist, it is impossible to truly grasp her role together with the concerns & needs of others. In her world, everyone else lives to elevate & improve Madonna's life, including her children. She thinks NOTHING of exploiting people. I read recently that her 2 youngest came to greet her at a rehearsal, they both first kissed her HAND before giving her a hug & kiss on the cheek! In her documentary, "I'm Going to Tell You a Secret," while on tour, Madonna, Rocco, and Lola were looking at their new hotel room, Madonna asked 4 year old Rocco, "Who is the Queen?" He responded in a repetitive, trained way, "You, you, you!" I find these behaviors cult-like brainwashing of the children. If you look closely at some of the pictures of them together (especially at the airport and many Malawi pictures), many, many times she is smiling or pretending to look away but her children often look miserable. With her fans, she rarely signs autographs or takes pictures/selfies with fans. She expects everyone to be standing & dancing at her concerts, leaving handicapped fans in few available seats, typically in the nosebleed sections (none of the floor seats are listed as handicapped). It seems she can't appreciate that someone clapping/tapping/humming along may have come very far in their own lives and this is the way they can enjoy the show. More able fans who do get seats right around the stage get called MF-ers, b*tches, etc, and these are people who paid hundreds if not thousands of dollars for her concert tickets + tourbooks/t-shirts/etc. Even her attempts at being altruistic come apart. We almost never hear anything about her Ray of Light charity which really seems as a tax saving vehicle on her part, and I think all her die-hard fans know about her Malawi debacle. What ever happened to her "Art for Freedom" endeavor? The website hasn't been updated for more than a year. In these examples, the most successful charity is ROL, and that's mainly because being used as a tax shelter, she benefits directly. With the other 2, she doesn't benefit herself much at all - thereby these charities do not receive more of her input and undivided attention. All in all, Madonna's formula for success hasn't changed. Everything from writing & producing an album (often "borrowing" or rather being "inspired" by someone else's music, so much so only a few words/lyrics are changed to truly make such songs legally "her own") /to forming some sort of theme to her albums/ to creating her spectacular concerts with detailed costumes and varied mixes of her songs/ to the rather small amount of promotions she has typically done for all her albums after 1985 - she has more or less followed these general patterns to great financial success & fame. It is her audience who has changed. Everything from aging & evolving of her fans to changing tastes in music, financial limitations of being able to afford her concert tickets, and improved knowledge via the internet about how many people she used and tossed away over the years - people are getting tired of the world & gospel according to Madonna. Her efforts at helping others seem disingenuous at best. Earlier this year when she was being criticized about uploading other famous individuals with the same leather string around their faces she was using to promote Rebel Heart, she was quick to throw her fans under the bus, saying they are the ones who made the "art". She didn't take responsibility for using these images to promote her own album & doesn't see this as a conflict of interest or in bad taste.I wonder if she knows the term cultural appropriation? It's increasingly obvious she views others as a means to an end - people to whom she can sell more albums & tickets in order to make her more money. It doesn't really matter how - via traditional sales of albums/tickets/memorabilia, or now via Tidal, where she expects a 75% royalty on every 3-4 minute song & video version she has ever done. That's pretty rich because many of her songs were hits between 10-30 years ago. Must be nice to still make money on work you did 10-20-30 + years ago. Yet, to crawl up onto a table to sign a contract demanding more money from fans for old music is just inviting criticism. For every criticism she has faced over the past few weeks - what does she do? She uploads some picture & comment on instagram, sometimes 2 - then if the criticism continues, she starts to upload new pictures of her children - IMO using her children in a way to diffuse the situation. This may be the biggest insult of all - using her own children to deflect criticism on her social media accounts in an effort to control what and when people discuss about her. Complete covert manipulation of others; typically at their expense in order to enrich herself and make her come out of every situation smelling like roses (or in her case, gardenias). At this point, she appears much more desperate than innovative or fresh. I miss the truly confident, inspired artist who seemed to stand for love, freedom, and acceptance of others.

My comment deals with observations of narcissistic personality disorder with many specifics as it relates to Madonna over time. These observations do not relate to my ability to be a devoted fan. In fact, many people that have narcissistic personality disorder are well loved, in part, because they tend to be very entertaining. But life is so much more than entertainment.

I was loving this, i was lucky enough to be in the audience to see Madonna do her comedy skit, and perform! it was an incredible experience. she is such an amazing artist, and can do it all. No one gets in her way of her dreams. shes gotten to where she is today because she believes in herself and shows her fans they can do it too. I think most people today don't like to take any risks and like to 'conform to the ideals of society', shes a true rebel heart. doing what makes her feel happy, and accomplishing so much in the process. she should be so proud of herself. a true icon and legend and staying true to herself, always since day one. its not a secret, its just about being fearless

I recently started stand up comedy myself and was told it is one of the hardest things to do in the entertainment industry. I kind of half believed it until I saw this video. Madonna struggled with it. FREAKING MADONNA?!??! Who has umpteen platinum records and sold out tours all day every day? She had difficulty with it? Either she is very good at pretending to struggle with stand up comedy or my fear of crashing and burning in standup comedy just got bigger. Her joke about what she asked her son was good. I actually took a class to learn how to be a stand up comic and the teacher would always say "timing is everything" I saw evidence of that in this clip. It wasn't that her jokes were good or bad it was that you could tell she was ridiculously nervous. The audience can tell when you don't have confidence in yourself or are worried a joke isn't going to go over well you have to sell it to yourself before you can sell it to the audience. These are all things that I am sure Madonna knows when she performs her music. This was so eye opening for me to see.

Kudos to this great woman. She has managed to stay relevant for more than 30 years and she is still up to the top every time she releases a new album and brakes records every time she goes on tour. I may not agree with everything she does or says and I may not like all of her songs but I definitely think she is unique as an artist. It's funny how she still intimidates so many people because she doesn't adjust to the misogynistic and ageist standard that women beyond their fifties have no place in showbiz and should act certain way while men have a free pass to whatever they want as long as they have power and money.

Madonna at 56 or any age is still hot and attractive because she takes incredible care of herself for starters , she has always been considered hot , she is constantly changing her look so that she is not considered stale And if you every really notice , it's something inside her that fuels her ambition like a jet engine on fire , plus she can hire only the best experts on food and health . She has been on a constant high since she started out in the early 80's and when you are that famous and constantly evolving it's contagious and she seems to radiate wherever she goes . Madonna is a star , whether a person wants to admit it or not , if they might think she is boring or a bad singer , she is a shining star 🌟 , there probably won't ever be anyone like her again with the way the music industry is changing with the internet and streaming and stolen music online .

The transitions between jokes could use some work, the stories were very entertaining and relatable! She seemed a little nervous, but that's okay! I believe there is potental with this!

Lucas Marquez "I believe there is potental with this!" Actually, Madonna's been doing excellent "stand up comedy" during her tours for 30 years. She was acting "nervous" in this on purpose. ;-)

Jeremy Crum "This was improv. She could do much better with some time to write material and practice it." It wasn't really improv, it was planned out (just like the interviews and "banter" on all of these shows - they don't "wing it"). She was acting "awkward" on purpose. ;-) Check out Madonna's tour videos (especially recordings of the Girlie Show and Blond Ambition) - she's a master at "improv" comedy. LOL It's not like she hasn't had a little bit of experience getting up in front of large crowds and making them laugh ;-)

It is awesome to see her doing something that she enjoys, I love it when people can take time to just be themselves. She wasn't doing it to please anyone, she was doing it because it is something she seems to enjoy. I know its could not have been easy for her to do it. knowing her personality it probably took a ton of guts for her to do that and I applaud her for it. She is known to be a perfectionist and for her to just get out and have fun for once is awesome.

This is fascinating. This is no spontaneous act. Madonna has always been a pioneer in reinventing or promoting herself and here she is being intentionally bad to endear herself to potential and past estranged fans. "Look! She's not a washed-up old star in a billion dollar ice palace! She's personable and not perfect and self-deprecating!" Bieber kind of did this with that Comedy Central roast. I guess the publicists have a new tool to use.

3:15 Yes, Madonna did met Andy Warhol. In the pre-Madonna phase (77-81) M had a group friends - Andy Warhol, Keith Haring & Jean-Michel Basquiat - shared an untraditional lifestyle on New York's underground dance clubs: The Mudd Club, Paradise Garage, Club 57. M's Sean Penn marriage (85) had guests like Tom Cruise, Cher, Christopher Walken, Carrie Fisher, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring.

It certainly didn't have me in stitches, but good on her for doing it! :) It's great to see her have a go. I've always been impressed by her extreme confidence in her abilities and how she just gets on with it and rules! I would love to have even an ounce of that strong mentality and driven focus she has! What an inspiring personality.
