agreed. Maybe her best live vocal!
Did you notice what the voice at the end said? It said: "God?" and Madonna stops and watches towards the sky. The "God?" is the real introduction to the next song "Like a Prayer". This performance was fire, it was so dangerous and mysterious back in 1990 when she shocked the world with this! :) For me, this is the ultimate pop concert: the amount of pop classics, the amount of global number one´s, the story arch, the commentary on love, religioun, sex, safe sex and family. No-one before her was this relevant, futuristic, dangerous, open and honest, and no-one has been able to top this since. Not even Madonna herself :)
Confessions tour opening “future lovers” is insane 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

“That really picked up at the end.” LOL. Love it.
I just wish the video didn’t end. The transition into Like A Prayer is awesome! I saw this concert both nights in Toronto. Unknown to me at the time, the police were there to arrest her at the second show because of all the Karens that complained about her, touching herself during this performance. 😆

The 'hand dancing' is called vogue or voguing originating in the late 80 gay clubs. Madonna made it popular with her song Vogue

😂 I was just going to comment the same thing. It’s called Voguing- she made a whole song and video teaching folks how to do it. But I just like how my WT5 guys are always clueless in the most endearing kind of way. You just can’t help but love them like puppies. Hehe. 😂

Keeping the original bass line in the chorus, the pounding drums, but with a complete new arrangement & tempo throughout - EPIC! Her live band was incredible on Blond Ambition.
You really must watch the entire segment (Like a Virgin, Like a Prayer, Live to Tell/Oh Father, and Papa Don't Preach). It's tells a whole story and totally revoluntionized (is that a word?) the pop concert.
I was 12 years old when I saw this performance. I was in complete and utter shock and bewilderment. It was awe-inducing and highly controversial for its time. She was so ahead of her time.
The current music industry can't serve that level of excitement and titillation
Madonna used her vocals weaknesses and made them her strengths. She always said she is not the best vocalist but she was smart enough to know it and uses her best abilities.
She sang the fuck outta that....10s across the board...and that crowd was into it AF
This performance almost got her arrested in Toronto!
You must see confession tour is the best tour live ever❤
I saw her in December & she referenced this performance directly in front of me 😭🔥👏🏾 Love Madonna!!!

I was 16 years old when I saw his concert!!! I begged my mom to get tickets and she did! There was so much controversy around this concert and THIS performance - it was all over the news. When we went to see it the concert, my mom tried to cover my eyes throughout the entire performance of this! LOL Such a great first show. This concert was the driving force for me to come out in 1990 as a gay teen (it was the men in he cone bras and the buldges!! lol). Not the easiest time to come out as a gay teenager, but I am thankful Madonna gave me a push in the right direction. And yes, Madonna always gets crap for her "poor vocals" but I am with you - she has a great pop voice and it's one of a kind. Love her voice and her voice(like her image and music) evolved throughout her career. Keep doing Madonna videos! The more you watch her the more you will fall in love with her.
All Hail the Queen!! Her Madgesty
Madonna is the Queen of Pop ❤🎉
Legendonna at her best
The performance that almost got her arrested in Canada.
I wasn't a fan of Madonna's until at 17 a couple friends got me to watch TRUTH OR DARE with them. This was the first version of the song I ever heard. Became a fan after seeing that film though.
The cone bras and the basques were Jean Paul Gaultier. This Madonna period was about those particular shapes and designs (and he designed all her tour outfits) and the vogueing which the dancers are doing. It was all very iconic
This is the performance that made me a lifelong fan at the age of 10
This is maybe her best performance ever
I was 20 when i saw his tour in LA. She was absolutely at the top of her game. The city was a buzz all week and Vogue was topping the charts then. This version slayed. Blond Ambition is the blueprint for every live show today by solo pop stars. She wrote the book. She’s still writing chapters.
1:46 is when the guy on the left GETS IT! Awestruck. Love this arrangement, the belting chorus, the middle-eastern elements and the SHOCK. Truly theatrical, artistic stuff for a live concert. Stunning vocals too. 9:39 That was abrupt! lol Try youtubing Vincent Patterson's interview about how he choreographed this - with the male Eunichs and he basically suggested to Madonna: put the cone bras on the men and she was like YES!
Madonna almost got arrested for this.
Omg top 5 of best performaces from madge
I did NOT expect the “Why can’t we just pray each other to life?” 😂😂😂
The back up dancers were Jose and Luis of the House of Extravaganza, they helped choreograph Vogue and those were their moves, Madonna found them in the NY gay clubs, they were part of the ballroom scene, which is where the vogueing moves you're referring to, like the duck walking squats and other moves you've seen in drag shows originate :)
She's definitely the Queen.❤❤❤❤
Madonna music from the drowned world tour and ray of light are gold

the duck walk 😅
The squatted walk is called the duck walk, and it's part of voguing.

I loved how she sang it on MDNA tour. In her lower register! I was never a fan of her earlier songs but she did it great that time.
SO FUCKING GOOD. 💯
What you are describing is called duck walking, and it’s one of the five essential elements in voguing. The hand motions the dancers do is another vogue element, so yes, they are related and from the same dance genre. Madonna of course sings about this in Vogue, which brought ball culture to the mainstream. Yah, the video cuts short because she immediately launches into Like a Prayer after this. It’s a whole story arc of sexual awakening, followed by religious themes of shame and regret, which ends with Papa Don’t Preach where she sings about keeping her baby. The BA tour was the first to really showcase themes and theatrical performance with pop music and dance. It completely changed how artists since put on tours, and frankly, no one’s done it better than her. This performance almost got her arrested in Toronto for ‘performing lewd acts’ based on some prudes complaint to the police, however the police backed off once they saw she was defiantly going to stand behind her artistic vision.
me encanta ver cuando se reviven estos iconicos momentos de Madonna desde otras miradas, gracias por compartir estos momentos mágicos, un abrazo chicos!!

You have to watch Like A Prayer and the whole section that follows this to make sense of the performance.
The 2 dancers Luis and Josie with the bed here are the original ‘voguers’ they didn’t quite invent Vogueing but Madonna spotted them in a club and took them on tour then released the single Vogue while on tour

The dancers are voguing which is a house dance that originated in Harlem in the NYC underground gay ballroom scene (drag balls) in the 1980s among black and Latinos
The hand dancing is vogueing, they more use it i. The video song of her VOGUE 🥰🤩 ahead of time😍
In the documentary Truth Or Dare she is shown backstage before this exact show and she was being threatened with arrest if she performed this number. Backstage at the show in Toronto, CA. She literally said "I don't care, I'm not changing my F'in show Freddy" (Her manager) she didn't get arrested. It ended abruptly, but not on stage. The last word you hear as she is looking up is "God?" and it immediately goes into the best live version of Like A Prayer..

I hope you guys cover Madonna's "Music Inferno" from her Confessions Tour. There are so many great "Live" Madonna performances......you might have to do a 2nd week of Madonna 😀
Now after you guys watch the Like a Virgin Performance you should React to Blonde Ambition "Like a Prayer" Performance because it is masterpiece 🔥
For this performance in Toronto they wanted to arrest her.
Would love to see you react to her performance of Future Lovers which opened her Confessions Tour. the intro + song itself is amazing. Live to Tell from this tour is also essential, showing her more political side.
I think that the hand movements in the choreographed performance is a snake charming dance. It used to be called snake charming
Try watching her song 'Why's it so hard " from her Girlie show tour. Definately as out there as Like A virgin blonde ambition.
I know exactly what you mean in that signature nasally thing sound she had back then, and she also had that Celine Dion opened clenched jaw “urrrrr” (I’m NOT saying her singing talent is up there w Celine). She sounded like that up until Evita where she had vocal lessons to teach her how to use her whole upper body to sing, whereas I think her voice previously was predominantly head voice.
She did that alot on her tours she changed the songs from the albums for the tours.
When they did this routine in Canada they threatened to arrest her for lude behaviour one of many reasons I love her!
Sooner or Later at the Oscars
I love you joeeeeeeeeee ah ah ah ah from France
So she had to cancel shows in italy due to the vatican banning her shows. The whole tour was amazing i managed to see it 6 times in London , Barcelona, and Nice.. Still one of the best concerts ever.
Her dad came to see this show and afterward said maybe she could tone it down 🤣
🎉✨❤️🔥✨
Please react to Madonna "Gang Bang" live MDNA TOUR
hand dancing is called vogueing
The performance forever known as “the masturbation scene”. Voguing is the dance you are referring to which she plucked from the gay ballroom scene and brought it to the mainstream with the song “Vogue”. Madonna actually had laryngitis for much of this tour.
I wonder if you will watch the Brits awards performance 🤔
She was famously threatened with arrest if she performed this segment in one city - I believe it was Toronto - for violating public decency laws by simulating masturbation. Not only did she perform it live, she ot all filmed and shown in her epic documentary, ‘Truth or Dare’. PS - They didn’t arrest her. They realized it would bring them more negative publicity than letting her perform
Do a Madonna videography journey guys. We garantee the wies
Joe, i love you. Your my personal crush❤😊….
