Her voice is so pleasant, never annoying and i get irritated by voices easily alot. She is a great vocalist, always has been, very versatile, doing soo many different styles. Severely underrated! Not to mention her writing, her pen game is always strong.

To all the Gen Z’s watching this… this was dating before mobile phones and the internet!!! 😂We’ve all been there… sitting by the phone waiting for “the call” 😅 I remember when I was little my mum used to play the Robert Palmer version and I used to think it was an upbeat song… but then I heard Madonna & Massive Attacks version and brought a whole new meaning to the song for me! Love this song❤ Once again, Madonna puts her all into it and you can really feel every word she’s singing. Brenda… you will defo need a tissue for One More Chance!! 😅

Buf, Marvin Gaye's song, the strong atmosphere of the Massive Attack production and Madonna's voice, made this song so emotional and heartbreaking... I 've never heard Madonna talking about this video but for me is inspired in a theater play of Jean Cocteau called La voix humaine/ The Human Voice, a monolog where a women in love, feels despair and shows her longing waiting a telephon call of her lover, his last call, because he is going to marry another woman...

I love how you two will vibe to any of her songs, even something this downtempo 😂 that’s cute! So, she wanted to perform this one in drowned world tour, there would be a whole section of ballads representing this album. Since I want you is not exactly stage friendly she would perform the Marvin gaye version. For unknown reasons to the public, she scrapped the whole thing and did something else instead. Now, the next video you’ll be reacting to is probably love don’t live here anymore, which is also a cover. It was originally recorded by Rose Royce in the 70s and then by Madonna in 1984, before being remixed and finally becoming a single in 1996. Highly recommend listening to these versions before jumping into the 1996 music video 😉

One of the rare covers recorded by Madonna; this 1976 Marvin Gaye song, the other is the 1978 R&B soul ballad-Love Don’t Live Here Anymore-by Rose Royce; both songs were included in her 1995 ballad compilation album Something To Remember. In the arc of her artistic journey, specially during this 90s era, her ballads were some if not the most beautiful, sensuous and haunting in her career; her music videos so elegant and seductive-like this of I Want You. Luv the anticlimactic ending of this video when the angst-ridden woman that Madonna portrayed, waiting and fidgeting whether she should make the call or wait anxiously for his call-that when the call finally came, she slowly lifts the phone off the hook but was unable to talk…leaving us wondering what could have happened afterwards. She looked stunningly beautiful and glamorous by this time even in her lingerie. She’s destined to be acclaimed not only as a pop music and cultural icon, but is widely considered as a fashion and style icon, a trendsetter among female pop music artists at that time. In her prime, both Vogue mag and Karl Lagerfeld named her “the single greatest fashion influence in the world”, while French avant-garde designer, Paul Gaultier called her “the biggest fashion icon” in the early 2010s. She has an innate sense of fashion dating back to her Like A Virgin/Material Girl era that spawned a fashion craze (Madonna Wannabes) in the mid-80s among young to middle age women. Beginning 1989, she would be the first music artist to grace the cover of Vogue and dozens of fashion publications thereafter. She’d have lasting collaborations and friendships with top fashion houses/designers like Versace, Dolce & Gabbana, Gaultier, etc. She’d received various awards for her fashion, including the first Versace Award from VH1 Fashion Awards in 1998. Really enjoyed your insight and reaction to this video.

This came out on a Various Artists compilation in the mid 90's, and that whole album was cool. This song reminded me of the style of Mercy Me by Marvin Gaye, but I had never heard this one before by Gaye; this became my introduction. The lyrics were powerful for me, without the video, even. I think listening without seeing it, in this case, is deep and simple, and good.❤

I actually love this song...the original and the many covers of it...xx This version is great imo. When this song was written decades ago, wanting someone "the right way" may well have meant something entirely different when compared to what modern audiences assume today. At the time he was pouring out his heart to the woman he loved. It sounds very different from a female perspective. Both are equally fascinating. On a side note: Good Lord Madonna was incredibly beautiful!

I remember watching this for the first time: I was broken hearted and hoping to rekindle. It was at the end of the video that I let it go. Madonna is not credited as such a positive role model…. Ladies, if you have to take one (maybe two, because I’m nice like that) piece of advice from Madonna, what would it be?

Great question - Thank you! ❤️❤️ Emily - Be authentic and don't be afraid to use your voice to express how you feel about things that matter to you. Brenda - Keep going. Even if you face massive criticism and backlash at times, don't give in to people who want to stop you. So glad that the video and song helped you to move on from your own heartbreak. Much love to you! ❤️

This song is in a strange place for me. I've always respected it, but to me it's always been a filler track. It's as if I want to like the song more, and can appreciate and respect the art and creativity (I "brain-like" it), but it just doesn't move or catch me in a way that a lot of the other songs in Madonna's catalogue do (I don't "heart-like" it). Normally songs either hit both aspects or neither, but this one hits one side for me without the other. An oddity :)

That's such a great way to describe it - "brain-like" vs "heart-like." We may borrow that from you in the future. 😉😂 ❤️❤️
