I'm sorry but that's clearly a lie and I hate to see our beloved Emily and Brenda being deceived into believing that. RIT (2004) is her worst tour (save for the first segment, the "Hollywood" interlude, and "Lament", it's embarrassing and such a massive drop in artistic quality after DWT), and RHT for the most part is just messy like the album. TVT and WTGT are far, far better. Nothing post-2001 is as good as the top 3: TGS, BAT, and DWT. MDNAT and CT are excellent, but not on the same level as the aforementioned top 3. Be honest to the reactors.

You’re probably aware of this-Madonna performed in Kyiv (Kiev then) on August 4, 2012 during her MDNA tour and she brought with her the Ukrainian synth pop dance boy band-Kazaky-who danced with her in her opening number Girl Gone Wild in their trademark muscular physique, bare-chested, wearing high heels and tights. They also performed with her for the official music video of GGW and throughout her MDNA world tour including shows in Moscow and St Petersburg, Russia. Throughout her amazing career she’d worked with many recording DJs, featured cross-cultural artists from dancers, back up singers, musicians as diverse as: Japanese, Hindus, Yemenite Jew, Basque, Romany/Russian gypsies, Algerian, Cape Verdean Creole, and from many other ethnicities, creeds and gender preferences. She is unique among pop music artists in embracing multiculturalism, inclusion and global outreach. She is a citizen of the world.

I was in that room. It was my first Madonna concert. Drowned Word Tour Chicago. It was the most amazing and immersive experience I had ever had in my life up to that point. The energy at the United Center was amazing. The beginning of the concert had no warning. They literally just dropped the lights and the stage started shooting lights out at the audience. I sobbed for the first 10 minutes. It was fantastic.

So much to talk about here! The tour started in Barcelona and everyone thought that Lo Que Siente La Mujer was a treat to them, so it was quite the shock for her to carry on with the song through the entire tour. It was in the single, but also was released as a bonustrack in Music albums in spanish and portuguese speaking countries. Then we have the performance of Music itself. Niki Harris mentioned that Gaultier never worked as hard in his career as during this period because everyone would rip their pants constantly so he'd have to keep sending them weekly to wherever the crew was! Also, Niki mentioned that this was the first tour that she and Donna said to Madonna "we're gonna be with the band while you do the dancing" because they thought it was way too physical for them. But luckily we had iconic moments of these three together! Lastly, the 911 shows that were postponed to the following week, Madonna did a few changes to the concert, such as having all the dancers on stage during Holiday and changing the end of Candy Perfume Girl, where the girl doesn't get assaulted and beats up the agressor. Anyway, I love watching these concerts with you, it feels like we're all in the same room kiking together! Thank you for watching this tour with us!

I was there! In Boston anyway! In my opinion, her best renditions of La Isla Bonita, and Holiday. The transition from holiday to music was much longer live. Crowd cheering for at least 7-10 minutes. The beginning of music was always reminiscent of the opening of the concert to me as well. The crowd, the lighting. This was my first concert and my favorite Madonna concert. Your reactions to the concert were so great. She has many more moments and memories to come!

Emily you are absolutely right it felt like the show was just beginning at the end!!!! Actually Donna is with Madonna for the Reinvention Tour! This was so much fun. I was to see this Concert on 911 in LA and it was postponed for several days later. The crowd was somber when we arrived and the opening sets had a even more intense feeling. We all shared the same feeling together and Madonna had the job that night to bring us to light especially when our spirit needed someone to admire. We left there stronger and committed to being a stronger nation . It feels like its sadly slipping away again . But we will rebuild. Thank you for renewed Hope!

I share your sentiments and concern for this nation. It’s well known that Madonna’s advocacy for rights is based on her political beliefs for equality, personal freedoms, multiculturalism and inclusion, which is the aspiration in the US Constitution and Declaration of Independence-the arch towards which American history has leaned to. I also empathize with her advocacy. Since this segment of this journey was posted this 4th of July, I’d like to share a video link below of the significance of this 248th birthday of America as we face a crucial election this November which will decide whether we remain a constitutional democratic republic or become a nation under an authoritarian regime. The choice is up to us. kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y6plpadtfpusZbA.htmlsi=8EDHaPiqMa1Np775

I was at the premiere concert in Barcelona, people from all around the world celebrities including part Of the royal family from Spain, I always thought that she only would performance what it feels like for a girl in spanish in Spain but was a great surprise that she would do it in the whole tour. The flamenco segment in Barcelona was awesome, everyone was screaming “ole ole ole ole” that was funny. The last time Madonna Niki and Donna sang together was this tour, so sad about that. the 9/11 date she had to performance in Los Angeles was moved to the 13, that night the show had several chanched because the terrorist atacks, in drowned world song the skirt was repleacing for a USA flag skirt and after mer girl she didnt shot the dancer, she approached him and gave him a hug.

Wow! What a closing segment. So artistically rich and grand in cultural history and messaging. Starts with the Spanish Girl: the candelabras, the dark stage as the orchestral theme of Don’t Cry for Me Argentina played and a couple danced the Argentine tango passionately, evoking for me the Phantom of the Opera scene when the Phantom and Christine danced while singing the Music of the Night. Then she ushered Lo Que Siente La Mujer with an all-female ensemble-the beautiful Spanish lyrics gave the song a romantic vibe (Spanish being one of 5 Romance languages from the old Roman Latin). This was an elegant performance, every gesture and movement between Madonna and the dancers were executed so exquisitely as they danced the salsa/tango conveying grace with power-with the message-don’t mess with these beautiful but confident women. Then this La Isla Bonita version was just magnificent-they recreated the elán and flair of the Gitano (Gypsy) flamenco street musicians and dancing with the vigorous hand clapping cadence and beat, transporting you to performers in Seville, Cordova and Granada of Moorish/Andalusian Spain where flamenco originated. Then in the final Ghetto Girl closing segment, luv her version of Holiday where she wore a pimped-up fur coat and hat and together with Niki and Donna they strutted the Harlem zoot suit swag walk that Spike Lee and Denzel Washington featured in the ‘92 film Malcolm X, while Madonna wore her black t-shirt with “Mother” in front and “F- -k-r” at the back (a term of endearment for herself and her fans; contempt for her detractors). Then she brought the house down with a trance version of Music with 15-power squats at the end of this nearly 2-hour concert. That’s how it’s done!! The audience was euphoric as I was, watching this closing of the show. ❤ and enjoyed your reaction to this whole tour-it’s insightful, awestruck, joyful, and infectious!! Thank you!😊

Listening to you link the DWT to 911 brought back so many memories of this show for me. Was in Las Vegas for the show on Sept 2nd she played Sept 1st as well. Took a flight back to Denver On Monday. Following week went by so fast was on such a great high from being in Vegas at that show. Worked at night shift Monday Sept 10th and next morning thought I was hallucinating from lack of sleep when I saw the Trade Center towers go down. Awful , just so horrible. Everything I knew changed that morning.

Drowned World Tour literally visits various regions of the world: the first segment is European, focusing on English elements, the second segment is Asian/Japanese, the third segment is American (USA), and the last segment explores and celebrates the beauty and passion of Spanish culture. The last two songs bring the entire world (and all of its nations) together, dancing to and honoring Madonna's catalog. Madonna, in 2001, had already been in the music business for 18-19 years! And today, it's been 22 years since this tour... it's mind-boggling when you watch Madonna perform and you realize and understand just how prolific she is. Thank you for sharing your reactions to Drowned World Tour with us! You both are coming up to the American Life era and I'm very curious to see your reactions to this album, its singles, its accompanying live performances, and especially its music videos. ❤❤

Great reactions to this, thank you . I think ,as you do it was a much darker tour than the previous ones but the lighter sections seemed so much lighter for it! I remember Madonna was criticised for not including more older songs on this tour and heard in fact Niki had to practically beg Madonna to include Holiday. Looking at the performance of Holiday you can clearly see Niki is almost taking the lead throughout and kind of making it her own in a way. I think she brought her ideas to Madonna and Madonna went with the flow for a change. I’m really glad it was included anyway! Thanks again

Someone else might know better and correct me but to the best of my knowledge, the version of "Holiday" in this recording of the tour, has the Chaka Khan's "Fate" (or Stardust's "Music Sounds Better with You") sample removed due to copyright issues. If you want to listen to the unfiltered version (audio-only) of the performance with the aforementioned sample, this is a link --> kzread.info/dash/bejne/iYat0s-hgd3YeKg.html - it starts to appear at 2:12

A about the 9/11 show: On September 11 2001, Madonna postponed a scheduled Drowned World Tour concert at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California due to terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, and the Pentagon in Washington, DC. The concert was re-scheduled for September 15. “Violence begets violence,” Madonna told the Staples Center crowd of nearly 20,000 fans on September 14th, “and I don’t know about you, but I want to live a long and happy life. I want my kids to live a long and happy life.” “What happened was horrible, but I’d like to think of it as a wake-up call. There’s terrorism every day all over the world.” “Last night, we had a minute of prayer for everybody who died on Tuesday. Tonight I’d like to say a prayer for peace.” “I said it last night and I’ll say it again: If you want to change the world, change yourself.” Madonna pledged that proceeds from the final shows on the tour would go to relief funds for victims of the attacks and their families.

Madonna’s long 40+year artistic career will witnessed many social, geo-political momentous events that would impact her and her concert tours: from the AIDS epidemic that ravaged the gay community in NYC and other places in the US, Africa in the mid-80s through the mid-90s; the close election of George W Bush (vs Gore) in 2000; the 9/11 attacks in 2001 followed by the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq; the 7.0 earthquake in Haiti in 2010; the rise of authoritarian populist ideology and regimes in 2012; the 2015 terrorist attacks in Paris; the election of Trump in 2016, followed by social unrest with the police killings of Blacks (George Floyd, etc.) giving rise to the Black Lives Matter movement, and the women’s MeToo movement; the Covid pandemic in 2019/20-just to name some examples. These would affect Madonna, she addressed them during and between her tours, donated/raised funds for the victims.

I've been to see Madonna perform live 3 times and each time I was very fortunate to be very close to the stage. I made eye contact with her which left me feeling breathless 😍 ❤ I was at the launch of her 2008 "Sticky and Sweet" tour in Cardiff 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿, the 2012 MDNA tour in Dublin 🇮🇪, and the 2015 Rebel Heart tour in London 🇬🇧 Her show in Dublin was an outdoor concert and we got saturated. It was Madonna's second time performing live in Ireland; the first time being on her 2004 Reinvention tour and which was also an outdoor concert, and where it also rained heavily. Madonna said a prayer beforehand that the rain would be delayed and as well as rain, they also ended up getting thunder and lightning! I remember Madonna saying at MDNA, "I've never been to Ireland when it wasn't raining! What the f**k?!" 😅 but ofcourse it was worth it and she was a great sport about it. You two ladies simply must go and see Madonna perform live! It's an unforgettable experience 🤩 It was a pleasure watching you both react to the 2001 Drowned World Tour! 👏🏻 Keep up the amazing work and I look forward to your next video 😊 🙏🏻 🇺🇸❤🇮🇪

But I confess again that this experience with you watching the show again after many many times, I had other view about Madonna’s messages. Conclusion: she always knew about the power of Her representation. I needed see the World with differents eyes to understand Her art and Her celebration of love and life, with the pain and sweetness that it represents. Thank you ladies for One more journey! As many have pointed out the shows from now on become much more elaborate and larger in scale/complexity. Nicki has said she wanted to just sing but M was doing “acrobatics”. To me drowned world is the last classic tour with minimal reliance on technology and staging. Not better or worse. Just different. And I personally love the big behemoth shows like MDNA and sticky and sweet.

I had a ticket for her final performance of the DWT tour which was scheduled for September 11th, 2001. The attacks heppened, it was pre-cell phone era so I didn't know what to do with my ticket. I was in pure shock. Sad. Confused. Angry. Depressed. I live 1.7 miles west of the Staples Center where the last show was scheduled to be done. I live on the same streets it's built on. In my shock, I passed by the venue, a sign said "TONIGHT'S SHOW IS CANCELED" in bright yellow and white digital signage. A couple of days after I saw it had been rescheduled for the 15th. My seat was in the super upper nosebleed section of the Staples Center. The row behind me was the very last row of the entire Center. She wore a U.S. flag in place of the Union Jack skirt she had been wearing for the shows. Her then new husband guy ritchie was the stranger in the Beautiful Stranger performance. Rather than shooting the dancer just before the What It Feels Like For A Girl video interlude starts, she throws the shotgun to the floor, she ran to him and gave him very TIGHT hug. During the infamous 16 squat thrusts in the "Music" song performance, Nicki, Donna, and all the dancers refused to do them. Madonna was left all by herself to do them, while everyone pointed and laughed. It was much needed levity for me, because for the entire start of the show, all through the show I was so out of sorts. Sitting up at the very back last rows, all I could see and focus on mentally was the attack in Manhattan. Seeing all the audience so far down below me, from so high above them all, my thoughts and emotions where at ground zero. The news footage from a few days before was seared into my psyche. All I could focus on where the victims of the Twin Tower attacks. Looking back, it was absolutely a surreal experience. The kind I never ever imagined a Madonna concert to be. Sigh..... On a super positive note, you both have so far to go in the Madonna live concert tour experience. I absolutely can not WAIT until you experience her Confessions, MDNA, and Rebel Heart tours!! You were blown away by this tour, I won't spoil the next ones, but I can say her Drowned World Tour Is a mere amuse-bouche by comparison of how well she executed those three particular tours. ESPECIALLY her CONFESSIONS TOUR LIVE!! Trust meeee!🤗👍

We can't begin to imagine what that must've felt like for you (and watching from your vantage point must have made it even more surreal). Biggest hugs to you. ❤️❤️ "You were blown away by this tour, I won't spoil the next ones, but I can say her Drowned World Tour Is a mere amuse-bouche by comparison of how well she executed those three particular tours." Can't wait for the main course then! 🎉

@OurAnxiousReactions Thank you for the kind words.🤍🤍 It was definitely an experience. A very strange one. Assuming you're going to react to her American Life era next? If so, PLEASE react to the Director's Cut of the American Life music video over the censored versions. There are three versions: The regular edited/censored version The heavily edited "Flags" version That one is completely censored. The Director's Cut is the version she intended to be released, but chose not to due to the death threats she got after the regular edited version was aired once on MTV. The Director's Cut is intense, so keep that in mind.

First tour where Nikki and Donna didn't really dance alot anymore. Madonna who had just given birth to her second child less than a year before obviously kept on dancing :D

The Girlie Show, Blond Ambition Tour, and Drowned World Tour will always be Madonna's top 3 best tours ever (sorry the famous Confessions Tour, you're excellent but not in the top 3 - I say The MDNA Tour is better than CT). The period from 1989 to 2001 is the pinnacle of her artistry, Madonna at her zenith.
