One of my favourite Madonna songs and in fact one of her most successful songs. #5 in the US, Canada and the UK, and #1 here in Australia. Yet it never appears on any greatest hits album nor any tours after this one. Oh well. !

One of her career's greatest mysteries. That, and her resolute ignorance of "This Used To Be My Playground" - her best ballad in my humble opinion (although "Crazy For You" is a close second in my book).

She's got much better songs since then, plus she says interviews that she doesn't like doing old hits, she wants to promote her new work

I was at the Detroit taping of The Virgin Tour for the home video at the end of May, 1985. My first concert, I was only 7 years old. I never knew why they cut out the 3 songs from the home video. They were performed the night I went.

Wow! This is the 1st time I see & hear the Virgin tour version of Angel. I knew some songs were cut from the show on video. But wish at some point it will be restored for a BluRay release!

The audio quality is amazing, what a shame the image doesn't!!

There is Madonna like i used to love!! She was pure explosion! She's phenomenal now a days but at this time she blows every mind and heart. Every fella got crush on her. Our dreams was about her and sometimes our paints get wet because of this dreams!!

I love that in the early raw vocal years she did a lot of improvs and adlibs in her live shows like this one. Nowadays she's quite reserved. I think her Evita vocal coach effed up her confidence and she just sings it straight.

I liked how her voice sounded for Evita. But I do agree, she does far less adlibs now.

Great song.I love the vintage rawness of the audio. I adore the instrumental outro too. Hope she sings it again live one day.

One of her lesser known singles. Even Madonna seems to have forgotten this song.

Loved this song when it came out. She always leaves this song off her greatest hits collections and live tour except this one. This is all for reasons unbeknownst to me.

Apparently she was advised to sing this on tour and she said she doesn’t sing it because no one would no it according to her !

i kind of like how lo-fi this is. it really adds character to an already great performance. but it would be nice to see an official cut, too

For the past couple of days, I imagined an 8-bit version of Madonna's "Angel" being played in a Megaman game. It would more than likely take place in any level at Dr. Wily's Fortress.

Truly a shame there are no move live versions of her 1983 and 1985 shows.

I bought this tour! I have it in tape VHS format lol 😂😂😂. I know, it hasn’t been released in digital, don’t know why! ... and this song Angel wasn’t part of the recorded footage :( I LOVE THIS song.. I have the vinyl record in 45 RPM format, is the side B of Into The Groove, so glad I kept my vinyls intact!

I don't think the missing 3 songs on the VHS are because of any 'racy' content. They wanted to make the VHS 1 hour and decided to cut this as it was not great and the costume change made it 6+ minutes and the Burning Up was nearly 6 more minutes too. Not sure why Borderline was a cut victim too, maybe it was a transition song and wasn't that great? Warner Home Video knows why...

why didnt they feature all the songs from the concert on the video of the Virgin Tour ? Ive not seen the dvd so I dont know if they have added anything. itd be nice to have the whole gig.

steev75 there currently isn't a dvd of this show... as for the songs being cut there are so far two stories, one is that the director felt Madonna's performance wasn't on form for those two. The other, (which is the one I believe as I've heard it a few times) Is that it had something to do with the length of the VHS video, in that it had to be under an hour, so they cut the songs for time...

there isn't an official DVD of the show... you can buy unauthorized DVDs which have been made by fans and available on some fansites, but you can't buy it officially...

I don't think it's her though. It's her former label, Warner Bros. They're brilliant at promoting and marketing albums, but they've always sucked at concert promoting. That's part of the reason she switched Live Nation, they're a concert promoting giant. Madonna knew that any live performances she under their label, would definitely get maximum promotion (especially for a star of her calibre). Also, now that I think of it, A lot of big artist have had issues with Warner's concert promoting. Let's hope they wake up and step up their game

Madonna didn't have all the creative control she has now when this was recorded, you have to play by the rules before you can call the shots, that's why the racy ones like burning up....angel and borderline were most likely. I don't think that they are racy, but remember the time, it was the Reagan era.

While Madonna was singing the beginning of the first verse, she was lying on top of the stairs.

It's a shame Madonna wasn't happy with her vocals, therefore, omitting it from the concert video release.
