It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever can manage to die in Madinah, let him die there, for I will intercede for whoever dies there.” Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, no. 3917. He said: (|It is) hasan saheeh ghareeb. It was classed as saheeh by al-Nasaa’i in al-Sunan al-Kubra, 1/602; by Ibn ‘Abd al-Haadi in al-Saarim al-Makki, p. 96; and by Shaykh al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 4/1034

May Allah have mercy on him. Ya Allah save this ummah from humilation on the day of judgement. Everyone keep him in your duas.

Singling out Friday only for fasting is considered impermissible. However, you can fast Friday if you combine it with a day before or after it as mentioned in the Hadith. Or if a person does the fasting of Prophet Dawud who used fast every other day. Or if one is fasting the 3 white days of every Islamic month. You can also single out Friday if it is the fast of Arafah for the people who are performing Hajj. Also, if a person has missed an obligatory fast, or has made on oath/vow then they can fast on a Friday as the fast is obligatory to make up therefore they have a valid excuse to fast the Friday. Bukhari (1985) and Muslim (1144) narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: I heard the Prophet ﷺ say: “No one of you should fast on Friday, unless he fasts (a day) before it or after it.” Muslim: “do not single out the day of Friday for fasting, unless that coincides with a fast that one habitually observes.”

Allaahumma aameen. Jazaakallaahu khayran for that great reminder.
