Most people don't understand the level of composing this takes. DJs have a hard time mixing even TWO songs together. Some psychos out there can run Quads but those are a rare breed. Let alone 30+. Obviously this was practiced and what not. But how many years would you need to mash together 30+ songs? Dude was like 16 when he made this. Insanely impressive to throw this together at that age. Some fucking legitimate genius level shit.

@@Sjerfifif You need to keep all that stuff put together in your head. Which track out of those 39 should come in at 2:12.20? If you've off by a quarter-second it's not gonna sound right. And obviously if you hit the wrong button out of the ~70 on the board on a live recording like this you're it won't turn out how you want - which means perfectly memorizing what song is on every single button. So much to keep track of in both time and space. And the synth at the end is all him. This would already be a pretty impressive mashup if it wasn't done in real-time, but doing it all on a launchpad pushes it to insanity. There's a reason he basically got handed a music career just for this track.

a lot of edm hasn’t aged so gracefully, a lot of the time you can hear edm and tell whether it was made during the 2010s because of how everything sounded during that era but something i love about madeon’s pop culture and just all his music in general is that all of his stuff never age. this mashup is generally old now, but it still sounds so good. being able to create music that sounds great in every era is such a skill and madeon will forever be one of my favorite edm artists of all time

As edm even a thing though more than 10 years ago? Idk about you, but techno and other genrea better than modern edm were at their PEAK in the 90's and early 00's. Take better off alone by Alice dj for example, which has been sampled hundreds of times and is still being sampled to this day, 30 years later

I found this song during a dark and lonely time in my life, just graduated highschool in an abusive relationship and not sure how my life was going to turn out. It came across my feed again today, in 11 days I will have my nursing degree and I'm looking forward to exploring a career in mental health and teaching, all while having my amazing partner by my side and getting him ready to pursue his nursing degree next so we can travel the world together. There's a difference between a DJ & a Live performer. Someone who plays on Ableton or on a LaunchPad is much more different then playing on CDJs/Controllers or Turntables. It's a whole different instrument & just like every instrument, requires years of practice to master, m8.

Pepe Mendez Surely, you're mistaken, m8. Idk if you know the Producer, Kayzo,(Up and coming artist) but he was recently interviewed... and he's a genre mixing master, literally... it's amazing... But he stated the most common misconception is that DJ's just press play. There's a lot of effort put into mixing LIVE. It's a pretty ignorant statement, m8. Not all DJ's do it. Also, No... LOL... A DJ is different from a LIVE Show... Look up Porter Robinson's live show... as well as Madeon's.... It's not the same. But I DO understand what you mean, m8... There's plenty of performers who use Albeton, Launchpad & what not live... Theyre just not BIG. Because there are none that are at the level Madeon is. (: It's just sad that most producers who use THIS (The Launchpad) are stricly for dubstep. When the ability to do a lot more is there on the device. Also, this isnt an easy instrument to use LIVE.

Cooper Ingersoll it's a MIDI trigger. it'll play whatever you tell it to. A keyboard is the same, but with less capabilities. I found it far more difficult learning to programming a DX7 or an M1, than setting up layouts on this.
