Lived in the second terrace house on the western corner of Mad Ave/Sierra St for a year or 2 around 1996-97. Got mugged by my islander neighbour's kids for a chattering on the way to school. Dad's car got stolen from the garage in the middle of the night more than once. Good times!

So anyway I lived in mad ave. 4ish years. 756 bus from town. 2nd house to leave. Before it became mt Taylor drive. Asian as. I checked it out. Corner of Esperance and Wivenhoe. Madeline down the strip. 276 from memory. Cows walking around that hill. Go get stoned up there on a full moon. Glendowie college. The park below and sacredhart to the left within view. But you wouldn’t know that unless you sat on that hill and got pissed. My parents moved to Glenn Innes. I live in the Gold Coast but it is what it is. Love your music Dave. Don’t go to the takeaway across from those gates.

I grew up in Pembroke Cres in the 70s which backed on to Madeleleine Ave...walked down part of it every day to get to Sacred Heart where I went to school...never head a problem with the people who lived in the street but often got chased and beaten up by boys from Glendowie College!!! Happy childhood memories...

Soo many wonderful memories in Mad Ave. I grew up in GI and St Helliers but had mates in Mad Ave and lived in Mad Ave 1983 - 1985. We hung out there so much as kids. As kids we didnt even knew the area GI and GD were bad areas. We could not have been safer growing up in these areas. I did get stalked one time from a guy who owned a house down 3 blocks away. and ran thru 3 houses before running the whole Reserve. I would have won Gold that night, 14yo lol. People chased him I found out.

Yeah it’s different when you live in these areas. Heaps of crime at the time. Burgs. Fights. Cars on fire at least once a week. I felt safe.
