We were there last week for the storm and had to cancel our tour, we made the best of it and stayed safe! Tuesday we stayed in and just drank a lot Lol. Hopefully when we go back we will do one of the tours. Thanks for another great video Jeff!

Thanks for the tips Jeff. Where I'm from we usually see very little rain. So when it does rain, all us drivers have to be more worried about each other than natural debris and rocks on the road. 😂

Love your videos so much. Especially about your family, the culture, history. Would be great if you take more interviews wih older people to tell more stories how it used to be. I've never been to Madeira, but feel it so unique. Very hardworking, enterprising, creative, optimistic people live there. The very labour of water tunnels aquates to egyptian pyramids in effort:) How on esrth could they built them??! Can uou find witnesses to interview? Also more vids on subclimates, what grows in each, I understand there are many. Madeira is such an enigma in everything, my hat off to it's people. The beauty of it is uncomparable. Also so looked after, clean, preserved. Looking forward to your vids! Hoping to meet one day

@@Hittheroadmadeira Would be so great to hear more interviews with your family and other elderly Madeiran people. The new generation is losing it's character due to global influence of fake american dream ("Stay Classy" couple got to it's heart in their Mexican video). It is a new trend to preserve unique character of places, ie Humanity, as opposed to faceless globalisation. Madeira is so unique, we need to preserve the legacy before the elderly die out: everything, their mode of life, herbal medicine, food, rituals, and... some esoteric knowledge every people have inherited. The new roads, conveniences are great, but Madeira should not look like manhattan with concrete skyscrapers and toxic GMO tasteless American food. Would love to know true Madeira and you are the best to bring it to the world. In faxt you should write books about it. I can see you are well equipped to do it. Just delegate to assistants, as you are quite busy.

@@Hittheroadmadeira the more unique Madeira preserves, the more attractive it wilk be to the world. Luckily, it was wise enough not to go Canarias way of soulless ugly cement high raising buildings. Would be great yo know about different regions of Madeira, ckimate zones, plants and culture of each one.

Currently in Madeira. We were fortunate to miss the bad weather when we arrived yesterday

No clickbait, the rain on the Madeira airport was terrible as you mention it. To be safe, you have to be near to a big banana tree. I had one next to me in Santa Cruz in January. Why big banana trees? They have onion like roots, so if the soil gets loose cause of the rain, they tip over. If you go over the banana line, it's cold at night. Don't know what u did on vacation, but today is Tuesday here in Coimbra, not Sunday. 😅

We were one of the unfortunate groups who had to be cancelled on Monday last week due to the weather, on reflection tho it was the right decision, safety first as Jeff says. The communication from HTRM was very excellent and we plan to rebook the same tour next year 🤞

Hey Mike, very unfortunate my friend but Mother Nature is Mother Nature isn’t she 💚 thankfully everyone is ok 🙏 When you come back, remind me, we’ll make it extra special 🙌 and to the guy who asked if we refunded the tour, yes, of course we did. It was a valid reason to cancel, our cancellation policy is on our website and it’s pretty clear. Have a great weekend Mike !! ✌️

Love them empanadas! Jeff, you are a brave soul and get your money's worth out of that classic Defender (What a beast!) We hiked that trail back in the summer of 2022. That's actually a great road for MTBing, off-roading, and moto-cross. Natural beauty and spectacular views at the top of the trail. You might even run into some grazing moomoo's. Just make sure you take a lot of water with you and from the safety perspective, if you are doing it alone, let someone know where you are going and when you are expected to be back. It's a big island and it's easy to get lost on some of those off-the-beat paths. Oscar, no more Oscar storms ;-)

Yes I believe it might be, they’re building a water structure of some kind so the road has been closed for a while. I would stick to the pro Civ app for now 🙏

Europe, UK are suffering from the worst draught, plants are dying slowly. But Madeira is always abundant in water, due to the fog clouds. Do all people have free access to that water? Unlike Azores...
