The tiny spool of reinforcement thread used to be included in every skein or ball of sock yarn, at least at times when the sock yarn used to be pure wool ( I can only talk about germany). Later, sock yarn was a mix of wool and man made fibre, so the reinforcement thread was obsolete. I am very happy to see it coming back.

I love everything you make and your color choices. You must speak a ton of languages. I’m very jealous. It must open the world up for you. I also am envious of all the places you have lived. I’m just catching up on your videos so maybe you’ve already done this, but I’d love to hear about what brought you to Germany and what led to your travels. The first episode seems to be missing and I didn’t get to see it. It’s really nice to see a podcast by someone closer to my age and body type. Enjoying your videos. 🧶

You are so sweet! I will try to answer your questions here :) 1. Sadly I don't speak many languages well; my German is OKish and I speak a little of a few Asian languages but only enough to get by. My French used to be good but when I try and speak it now, German words keep sneaking out, and I know a little Welsh :) 2. The love of my life brought me to Germany after we met in Seoul, South Korea, when he was there on a business trip from Germany. My life before that was a little complicated (I got married too quickly and too young 🤷🏻‍♀️) but suffice to say wanderlust took me travelling. Having grown up in a military family, the urge to travel is very natural to me but I have lived in Germany for the longest I have lived anywhere and I'm very happy so definitely sticking :) 3. There is an Episode 1 but the quality of the video is so poor I took it down 😂 I am so glad you have enjoyed my videos so far! It is a lot of fun for me to make them too. Thank you so much for watching 🥰

I couldn’t find the box to comment on your first podcast so am pleased to see it here. It is a delight to listen to your beautiful gentle English voice and watch as you talk. You have a pleasing manner and it feels as if we are sitting in the same room. Good luck with the spinning and idea of fleece to fabric. It is purely desire + practice. I learned in the 1980s and it is so much part of my life. The ability to buy a fleece clean and sort it, wash and card ,spin and knit never ceases to thrill me and there isn’t anything like that lovely sheep smell. Have you come across Lisa at Soulful Spinning podcast? She does quite a lot of spindle spinning as well as fleece preparation, is a delight to watch and very informative. I know you will enjoy Wonderwool. I really enjoy this festival and usually take 2 days to explore all of the sheds. Unfortunately I am unable to go this year. I would suggest you quickly walk round all 3 sheds to get a feel of what is where, before you begin to browse. That way you won’t run out of time. It was a good day when your podcast came on my lists. Thankyou for your lovely content and long may you continue. ( I particularly enjoy your rabbit holes😂). 😊

Hi, lovely podcast! Glad to have stumbled upon you. You asked about Zwartbles, in the English speaking world, people seem to makevit sound like it rhymes with marbles, but being Dutch (like the sheep breed 😂), that always irks me a bit. Zwart means black, like schwartz in German, Bles means blaze, so black sheep with white blaze, just like Torddu in the Welsh sheep breed. In English it would probably have two words, but you know Germans and Dutch like to string words together. Zwartbles in Dutch rhymes with cart-less.

@@madebymoomeeno oops, but I made a mistake though, the Welsh sheep breed Torddu is the white sheep with the black blaze, Torwen is the black sheep with the white blaze. I know you did not even talk about those sheep, but you mentioned Wales a few times...

@@ailienrhijnsburger5178 there are so many unique breeds, aren’t there! I am Welsh and I go back to see my family in the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) as much as I can. Most of the sheep put out to graze on the common land near my family’s farm house are the self-shearing kind that are sold for meat but there are a few other breeders dotted about. Sadly growing sheep for their fleeces isn’t as profitable for struggling farmers as it once was.

They also have yarn from Oslo mikrospinneri), Strikkedilla, Garntopia (it’s out of the centre, but they have a great selection).
