Made in Abyss and World Building
Ойын-сауық
Made in Abyss is one of the not so hidden gems of the Summer 2017 anime season. So today I decided to talk about what the show does best. World Building

Bearded Sifu Class of the elite is fucking awesome though, at first glance it's typical romcom, but it strictly isn't.

Zoran54321 That's your opinion, luckly most people does not think so.
While World Building is the main appeal/aesthetic for Made In Abyss, I liked it because of the choice of art style, setting, and story. The art style and setting reminds me of Maplestory and the story of this series is pretty good for an anime of this genre. It's not just the aesthetics and the story either, it's how they intertwine with each other. Made in Abyss makes everything fit together without getting rid of any immersion in any of the scenes. That being said, while the World Building isn't that great to some, it captures itself as one of the best because of how it comes together into one simple masterpiece.
purpose? beach=swim, have parties, relax, boost relationships and see attractive people half naked. train station=travel one of my favorite worlds is from a adult experience.
FMA has a great world. Can't think of a better one actually.

@@appledough3843 totally true
the last episode had me shook, i was hanging on every moment...
honestly the best world building i have seen is in one piece, that world is fleshed out with different races all with different cultures, a battle system that also has a driving mystery around it, a lot of different nations and islands that you could actually map out based on the information given to you, and on those islands more different cultures. Also there is a way the sea is governed by major pirates and the world government with systems like the 7 warlords etc. the best part is almost none of these islands end up being irrelevant, there are constant call backs so it feels like a world that is constantly moving.

One Piece's world building is lacking in subtly and complexity not to mention the fact it is full of glaring holes. It's world building is above average for what it is which is a shonen battle anime for younger audiences. Made in Abyss on the other hand is a master class in what good world building should be.

Melting Sky I think one piece has slightly better world than made in abyss. What about one pieces world has glaring holes? Is it the fact that the world isn't realistic and dark themed as the abyss?

tharu G I like that he used Made in Abyss, cause its not as popular as One Piece or Avatar or FMA but still really good at world building, something those anime are well known for

Yeah it just took a thousand episodes to flesh out the world.
My favorite world building in anime is in Haibane Renmei. Much like this show, the first few episodes are pretty much a travelogue and character introduction. Abyss frequently reminded me of the Myst and Riven games. I liked the way the world building extended to the smallest details, even the sounds.
Sora no Woto has spectacular worldbuilding.
GREAT video!! I absolutely love the world in this show, and you've NAILED IT!!! :D :D :D
My favorite world building, is probably Gurren Lagann, while it's probably not the best, I think it's both subtle and obvious, and really rather effective.
Except for Studio Ghibli favorites Made in Abyss is currently my favorite anime.
I swear, literally NO ONE is watching Ballroom e Youkoso, and it deserves some love too Made in Abyss has been my favourite this season right from the get-go though, hands down
loving this anime
you can only give partial credit to the team of the anime, because the adaption is incredibly faithful to the source material. (often panel by panel acurate, with just enough added, to smoothly get frmo one memorable shot or visual cue to the next) but they pulled it off masterfully. IMHO the strength in world building lies in its almost passive subtlety and visuality - the world is perfectly thought out, but in the end it's just there, and you're just getting to see enough of it, to form a coherent picture. one behemoth in world building is warhammer 40K. it's not a world, but the intergelactic empire of mankind, with a 10000 year history, a lot of which is lost to time and war, and even events ling predating human civilization. you will not find any fictional universe with more complex lore.
Also Welcome to the Ballroom is a good Anime. Do you watch the Anime, if not you should 😉😉
I vote for "Shin Sekai Yori". That's some amazing world building there.

seiyamon Yep. MiB reminded me a lot of SSY with the worldbuilding and powerful story telling elements.
I am LOVING this season so far. I'm really surprised to hear that most think it's weak. More shows this season that I'm sticking with than the last two or three, and we have a few shows carrying over from spring that are GREAT (Sakura Quest, Re:Creators, and My Hero of course). Heck, as for shows starting this season, along with Made in Abyss (which I'm surprised is so loved - I'm digging it but I didn't think it would have such mass appeal), I'm enjoying Dive, Knight's & Magic, Princess Principal, New Game season 2, Action Heroine Cheer Fruits (my pick for the hidden gem of the season - it ROCKS and I'm surprised no one's talking about it), and Gamers. It's a great season in my book, and I hope more people try watching the shows that aren't getting as much attention. There are some great ones that are flying under the radar.

Same. I'm not sure how a season with both Made in Abyss and Princess Principal can be considered weak. Not to mention Tsurezure Children, Isekai Shokudou and Nana Maru San Batsu, just to list the shows I enjoyed.
Where did you get the background music from I love the background music so if you could can you please tell me what the background music is called you guys should like this if you want to know the same thing
Umm you said "creators" but made in abyss was created by Akihito Tsukushi alone
Black lagoon and outlaw star had good world building.
did you just put Classroom of the Elite into hidden gems of the summer? I think My hero academia has some nice world building. You should do a video about that

If we are talking about world building... Tower of God

its ironic! since tower of god is going up, made in abyss is going down. but the goals and motivations are pretty similar.
FMA is a pretty fantastic classic example of world building

One Piece has good world building for a shonen battle manga, but that's not saying much. Made in Abyss, Ghost in the Shell, Mushishi and even Full Metal Alchemist are on a completely different level.
@TrueSchwar

+Melting Sky Those worlds where created to be like that, One Piece was botched together with no real world building intent, and is now one of the more complex anime worlds. So well yes, FMA, Ghost in the shell, and Made in Abyss have better worlds, they were made to be so. One Piece, for it's sheer ability to come together, deservers to be up near the top with them.
Wtf? The summer season has TOO MANY good shows, not just Ines that started in spring. Yes we have re:creators, Sakura quest and bokuaca. But new shows are just as great if not better! Gamers, Made in abyss, princess principal, kakegurui, fastest finger first and hell even the reflection is pretty interesting. Last season was way worse imo
