Well, one possible interpretation of the Don Giovanni is that Leporello is nothing but another personality of the Don (which helps explaining how nobody notice when they switch places!) and that "the list" has inside the names of girls barely met by our main character, maybe just seen in passing, and in his delusion he is absolutely convinced he seduced them all.

It's not only his voice, the man is an exceptional actor aswell!!

Haha exactly. I haven't laugh so much in ages when I saw this interpretation for the first time. He embraced really well the concept of his character.

I am also delighted that this Leporello has his list folded in the manner that at least the graphic industry in Germany today still knows as a "Leporello"!!!

La sintesi perfetta tra testo, musica ed interpretazione. Se nella lirica ci fosse un premio Oscar per la miglior interpretazione questo andrebbe a Furlanetto. Mozart e Da Ponte dall' aldilà ancora gioiscono nel vedere come il loro lavoro è stato reso.

Furlanetto all'epoca era all'apogeo della carriera, un Leporello indimenticabile, per freschezza, recitazione e aderenza al personaggio e alla sottile ironia che lo sorregge nonostante l'apparenza corriva.,Laltra animo di Don Giovanni.

Un capolavoro assoluto. Secondo me il più bel brano di tutta la storia dell'Opera classica. E il Don Giovanni la più bella Opera classica in assoluto di tutta la storia della musica.

Non ho ancora visto un'interpretazione migliore di quest'aria.

Parallax77 well basically, this woman is infatuated with Don Giovanni and has been following him all throughout Italy. In an effort to get rid of her, Don Giovanni has his servant try and show what a sexual deviant he is, so he reads from his little(or I guess enormous) black book of sexual conquests.

@@metroidfoosion73 She's not infatuated with him, she's distraught and is seeking revenge, she's lamenting and is heard by Don Giovanni and Leporello, Don Giovanni (not knowing it's Donna Elvira) tries to woo her but quickly realizes his mistake, both of them recognize eachother and she reproaches him bitterly.

Il basso F. Furlanetto è meritevole di ammirazione ,tanto per la sua capacità nei ruoli mozarto-rossiniani ,come per la sua presenza nel teatro lirico, in generale. Un attore-cantante molto abile del repertorio italiano

I agree. He played Don Giovanni for years first and was offended when Herbert Von Karajan asked him to play Leporello but he does it best!

It is not possible for me to love this cast any more. And whoever thought to get a closeup of Bryn Terfel at the first "Ma in Ispagna..." brava, so hard.

Ce morceau de musique est mon préféré. Je l écoute assez souvent et je ne m en lasse pas. Et ce monsieur ...Mais quelle voix. Les mimiques de sa femme , c est vraiment du grand art. Bravo.

I love this production, it is as if Diego Velázquez had painted it! The spanish golden century on stage. And Ferruccio Furlanetto is a genius, as a singer and as an actor!

I have on DVD the Salzburg performance of Don Giovanni in 1987. Furlanetto was its Leporello. What an amazing performer he was then and still is here, although I can scarcely imagine what it must have been like for Karajan, struggling to find a balance between himself and a cast whose members were all at least 30 years younger than he was. And yes, he did look and sound younger then; I did not think that this was him at first.

A favorite performance of my favorite opera! I taped it on video cassette when watching it on PBS and watched it many times over the years. It also starred Samuel Ramey (another favorite) as the Don and Kathleen Battle as Zerlina.

This just goes to prove how eternal Mozart's music is. Listening to this is like listening to a modern Musical.

This Italian Aria is composed by Mozart, an Austrian composer, during the Classical Era. It is from Don Giovanni (the Opera) and is about Don Giovanni sleeping with women.

Furlanetto's favorite arias/works are serious, so it's interesting to see him do this one so amazingly well. (He mentions his favorites in an interview---they include Ella giammai m'amo.)

@@MARTIN201199 Ferruccio is a gentleman. He is a consummate professional. I have known him my entire career. He is one of my generation's most favorite colleagues. The old guard has retired from the Metropolitan Opera chorus. I am in the middle. We revere people like Placido Domingo and Ferruccio Furlanetto. The younger people, not so much.

Caprice Royal moreover (not deprecating the opera though) we're talking about _Mozart_, the same guy who wrote "Leck Mich Im Arsch" (tr: "kiss my ass"), so, if he was open on swear words as Blink-182 are now, why can't I, talking about his masterpieces? As if the word "fuck" was a scandal in 2016, considering that today's music is about bouncing buttocks and naked women licking and riding building equipment.

Bravo Furlanetto, for the singing and the acting, not to forget the scenic direction. Don Giovanni listening and reacting, Dona Anna listening and reacting and lovely little Susanna running in and reacting while Furlanetto is, in a way, the puppet-master, teasing, provoking and mastering the scene. In this one he is superior to the Don himself. I loved it!
