That is an amazing car. I'm an American and I'll tell you what you guys have some of the coolest cars I've seen. It amazes me to see how passionate you Australians are with your cars. You guys have the most badass 4 door cars on the planet!! I enjoy watching this channel because it give me inspiration & it gives me something different to watch than what I'm use to seeing hear in the states. Thank you guys and keep up the awesome videos. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

bullshit mate you know nothing about Australia, the place is heavily regulated with so many restrictions most of the cars are all little baked bean cans conformed so you don't bring attention and anyone looking for attention on the street is hounded until the ends of the earth by the constabulary, you want to see some nice cars I lived in NZ for 23 years over in that place you are still allowed to drive fully blown cars legally on the road as long as it passes everything through an engineer , in Australia you are only allowed to go so far so most people do not bother

Dont let his attitude put you off. Like every other kiwi that now lives here in australia, he's carrying on about how much better NZ is. ( yet they left...go figure) Ironically, the NZ car culture, while pretty cool.. is full of cars made in the countries they profess to be so much better than. Anyway, we have some beasts here, as do you guys. So long as its loud, fast and has the right number of cyls in the right configuration, it's all good :)

I remember seeing this ute, in the green, on the cover of Custom Vans & Truck mag when I was a kid, it blew my mind. At the time nothing like this was being built in Australia. Great to see it again.

I can see the grille bars extending down on to the front spoiler, with the same point in the centre! Maybe 3 of them? That finish of the gun is top notch!

Love to see the old school HJ Statesman fronts with the lower grille set up and also with the HZ statesman tail lights as well, all on HJ/HZ monaros and the windup sunroofs as well ,in fact my Brother had a HZ just like that with sunroof and also the checkered black and white seats, now i bet he is spewing he sold it and you will never guess what he traded it in for ,a Toyota corolla ,little 4 cylinder crap thing which cost him more to fix using genuine parts than what he got for the monaro and this was in 1990?

The paint was originally British Racing Green ( I believe) with a shit load of clear over the paint, ie: paint, then sanding it smooth again, paint, then sanding it, like about 5 times and clear over each time. :) basically a mirror effect once finished. :) also the tow car and other cars used in the movie will be at the mad max 40th reunion, cant wait . :)

@ 11:11 mark in the middle of the screen you can see where the tape mark has left a little smudge after the painting process and the black with the candy red has lifted up the paint, shame, really very good job, i am sure they will go over it and fix up an issues they see ?

Are those headlights from an old Mercedes? There was a similar ute built back in the day that had an 'aero top' instead of the targa top like on this one but had no spoiler. It was also featured in Street Machine magazine but i cant find pics of it anywhere.
