DESCRIPTION
The owner of this ute ultimately wanted it returned to its former glory. His vision was for a nice cruiser that he and his grandson could enjoy together.
So OL' School Garage set out to tackle the body work first. The boys stripped the 1-tonner in no time in preparation for sandblasting. They carefully documented, labelled and neatly stored parts to aid in reassembly.
While the cab was being sandblasted, Jamie and his team cleaned up the chassis and gave it a fresh coat of satin black. As expected, the cab came back from the sandblaster with considerable rust damage.
Once OL' School Garage knew what they were dealing with, they developed a build sheet in conjunction with the owner. The build sheet is Ol' School Garage's own system for transparency in estimating and keeping a track on the project cost.
Roland and Trent tacked the rear of the cab first as it looked like Swiss cheese. As no rust repair sections were available for that particular area, Roland reconstructed both inner and outer section and associated supports from scratch. Meanwhile, Trent was on floor duty. He cut out the floor sections in preparation of welding on new floor pans and carefully unpicked the old welds and cut the replacement panels to shape. As you can see the rust repairs were a big job.
The cab was put back on the chassis so the panels can be hung and and final adjustments made prior to our paintshop taking delivery.
The tray has been painted in matching yellow and laid down on a custom timber floor with recessed tie down points.

Nice work, looked like some serious rust cut out. Sympathetically restored and nice trim work also in the dash and door panels, bench seat. Love the touches at the back with the deck and alloy boxes. A+ I had a HQ in the day loved it, was a real work horse but even then it had rust in the lower sills.....

Me encantan sus vídeos. No son charlas…, como si fueras a restaurar tú un coche como “éste”. Vosotros lo reparáis y lo presentáis paso a paso. La secuencia de la reparación es amena y entendible. Gracias 🚖🚚🛻🚔

Those pop-up tie down anchors look great, I am considering putting recessed anchors in my hardwood tray. What brand are they?
