I have a question about the timeline and characters. Does this mean the game Mad Max was a different timeline all together? Was Scabarus Scrotus one of Joe’s sons? Did Max really build the Magnus Opus and face off with Stank Gum prior to recovering the Interceptor (again) in the opening lizard scene in Fury Road? Please look into this🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 thank you😊. PS: Im gonna repeat these questions on the deep dive channel until I get answers.

Little correction, when you said Hugh is getting up there, he actually passed away in 2020. I didn't know about it until a little while after it happened either, but worth putting some respect on the name of an actor that was involved in bringing this world to life not once but twice.

4:20 While the previous films where filmed in NSW, Fury Road's production was moved to Namibia, shortly before filming, as recent heavy rains had made the landscape around Broken Hill look like a lush paradise. Furiosa however returns to NSW. Filming both near Broken Hill, and Hay. A town considered a desolate waste, even by Aussie standards.

Equal, meaning absolute zero. I wanted to like Dune, didn't dig it til my husband made me read it and watch Lynch's version, we saw the first Villeneuve in a theater for near my birthday in that year. We both quietly said later as much as we adore Chalamet, Villeneuve and Momoa: this felt: lame. Paper-thin. Empty. Lynch may not make sense to anyone who hasn't read the book but gods does it feel EPIC and meaningful! Modern "art" has been corporatized which means they make it as vanilla as possible, which means it can no longer be ART in any true sense as the conveyance of meaning is hijacked. "Yes, but what will make our shareholders richer?" Vought in "The Boys" is not so much satire as it is a smirk from the parasite class.

Regarding the timeline, I think it's been implied by both the comics and George Miller that the movies are "Word Burger" stories told in the distant future by either the History Men or whoever has been confirmed as the narrator (i.e Feral Kid, Mad Max 2) Basically meaning Miller can do whatever he wants now because stories change over time🤷🏻‍♂️

The CGI issue is the misunderstanding about Furry Road. They think because it was shot practically they there was no CGI. In reality CGI was crucial to stitching the practical shots together and cranking up the appearance of danger.

Apologies in advance, I haven’t read the other comments on this thread, but here’s my hopefully nuanced take on your comment regarding the CGI-ness of the trailer. I think what’s off putting for folks like myself is that there’s a handful of scenes being shown to us here, I’m thinking primarily of the shot with the vehicle drifting down over the sand hill as an example of scenes that COULD have been done practically. IMO, I think that’s what can annoy audiences the most with cgi. Miller really put a stamp on practical effects with fury road, and as a modern cinema goer who has grown up watching so much CGI, I yearn for practical effects and so for Miller to make it clear from the jump that there’s going to be a lot of CGI in this movie, it’s a little disappointing.

  • @helldronez

all cgi is bad is because transformer and mcu always full cgi. while real practical effects is the best it is a bit dangerous. there is a fact that in fury road some stuntman almost dead in the first scene of madmax car flipped into sand, i saw it on behind the scene madmax documentary on youtube

  • @TobyDeshane

Re: "cgi school" quip: No, you don't need to go to school to know when your eyes tell you something looks bad. It just means something looks "off" and it's probably either from bad CG, or bad practical. If you didn't notice, or thought it looked fine, or just didn't care, that's perfectly acceptable. Myself, I definitely noticed, but I don't care. It DOES look like a downgrade in parts of this trailer, but it also looks like a shitload of artsy fun. I'll probably get my ass into the theater for this one. But I'll keep my expectations in check as far as comparing it with Fury Road on that level.

We would have to assume Feral Kid and his city haven propagates the tale of Mad Max to such degrees that he becomes a moniker to the wastes, doubtful the other good people he met would praise him all that much over given thanks but not thanks enough to write into their civics. That character wouldn't choose a prolific waste-name, if his choice was to choose that name because of his admiration for the origin MM then he would have been more a savior/hero type. Where he clearly isn't, shown by the many times he acted solely on benefitting his situation. If the war-rig didn't stall out I assure you MM would've continued driving into the wastes without a second thought.

Hugh Keays-Byrne actually passed away in 2020. As this film is set in the past he was never going to play Joe. Film looks incredible but I did agree with a lot of people about the CGI. What made Fury Road great was that the BIG shots were practical with minimal CGI in the background and it had very few CGI shots. I would have much rather had a sequel to Fury Road but I’m so glad that Miller is creating more films in this franchise well into his 80s.

Miller has said that he has a finished script ready for "Mad Max: The Wastelands" AND a rough script for a sequel to THAT, though he's still trying to decide whether the Wastelands sequel will be a film or a novel that could possibly later be adapted into a film by someone else. (He IS almost 80 years old, after all.)

the car stunts were real, but CGI was all over every scene in Fury Road. lots of car were even brought closer together by CG for the movie, other cars were added into the scene.

@@CoolGobyFish yes. Practical cars were brought closer together with cgi. The point is they are practical to begin with cgi used sparingly.

that is wildly incorrect, over 90% of the shots on Fury Road have heavy CGI. A lot of it is unnoticeable and that's how it works.

Exactly!!! I can't stand when people complain about the CGI, like they are experts. I remember the early stop motion effects. Or the horrible Scorpion King CGI. It's more of a reason for them to complain and feel import, yet the vast majority of the complainers could never do anything near the level of what they are complaining about.
