The vitrectomy surgery may help improve your vision affected by macular pucker, but use caution before deciding to have it. Seek second opinion or even third opinion. You'll have almost 100% chance that you will develop cataract rapidly following the surgery. I was in such a situation, and just had my cataract surgery recently, less than one year following my macular pucker surgery. Maybe I should not have had it in the first place as my vision was still pretty good back then. Anyway, you need to understand clearly the pros and cons of the vitrectomy before deciding to have it

I had vitrectomy a few years after experiencing a hard blow on my left eye. My vision improved but had an early onset of cataract , thereafter had my first eye cataract surgery. A couple of years later my other eye had cataract as well, thereafter had surgery on that other eye. I can say that my vision significantly improved and 9 years later after my vitrectomy and at age 65, I am still driving without any prescription glasses. My long distance vision is fine. I only wear reading glasses at the moment. I guess I was lucky to have 3 successful operations of my eyes.

I have macular pucker. My vision is not good in one eye and everything is wavy. I really don’t want to have this eye surgery. It seems scary and there are lots of things that could go wrong (according to this video) 😢

I am seeing a small blur spot in my central vision in left eye, through which I am not able to read far from that eye only, otherwise I'm all okay with both eyes, does this require surgery?

Is your vision distorted? I had my macular pucker surgery about one year ago, as I could not stand the distortion of my vision (like straight lines looking wavy). After the surgery, the distortion has been much reduced, but in terms of acuity, my vision is a bit worse. So from my personal experience, you don't need to have the surgery now if your vision doesn't have significant distortion

I just had this surgery 2 days ago. The Dr. filled my eye halfway with a saline solution. I can see the line where the saline is. The saline moves like water inside a swim goggle. It really throws my balance off. The Dr. said it should be better by this Fri. (2 days away). I don't really see any improvement so far. Any opinions?
