Mack the Knife | Piano and Vocal Cover - Smooth Jazz Music

Here's my take on Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht's 'Mack the Knife', recorded live at Mr. Vain.
'Mack the Knife' was written for Weill and Brecht's 1928 musical 'The Threepenny Opera'. Originally written in German (as 'Die Moritat von Mackie Messer'), it tells the story of the fictional London criminal Macheath. The most popular English lyrics are based on a translation made in 1954 by Marc Blitzstein, and are much more tame than the original German version! Even so, early recordings were banned from radio broadcast, though the records sold well.
Popular recordings include those by Louis Armstrong, Bobby Darin, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Anita O'Day, Bing Crosby, and Ella Fitzgerald-who, in a live recording, famously forgot the words and improvised her own lyrics. I hope you enjoy it!
