Machining the Body | Project Mehr | Guitar Build Log Part 5

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

We are finally machining the body for this guitar! In this video we cut the fixture that let's us achieve 2 sided machining, machine the back side of the body, machine the channels and cavities on the front side, bookmatch the walnut top, then gluing on the top and finish the front side.
Big shoutout to Matt Fransen of Fransen Guitars who bookmatched the walnut top for me. Thank you so much Matt!

I have already designed and I am about to start cutting my own guitar, and, I have to tell you, it's been made possible mostly because of your videos. Thank you for a great series of videos, and happy holidays!

So nice to see it all come together from CAM to CAD to Machining. I don't think I've ever seen anyone do that. Can't wait to see that neck joint. That would've been a satisfying way to close out that video, btw :-D

I posted a few pics with the neck installed on my instagram. (Just loosely set in there, no glue). Check it out! I meant to include that in the video but forgot :(

It's so cool to see you holding this body after all the work you put into the design and the build itself. Can't wait to see how it turns out in the end! And merry Christmas, see you next year!

I've ordered QueenBee Ultimate CNC 1500x1500mm.I wanted that machine with servo motors instead of stepper.Servos don't loose the steps. The are much faster and much quieter than stepper motors.I think it's better to use tabs to hold the body in the material, anyhow bro you're doin' a good job.

Just a thought, your pins look like they're symmetrical and the body will go on either way. Try making one set wider then the other so you can't mount the body the wrong way. Guess how I know this?

See if you can get delrin pins insted of steel ,just incase of puter errors. We are all learning😎

good material, Your fusion material is the best. To make a good align top (bookmatched) I set the fusion to alingn in center of the material, so that way i can see in a axis how the line is going to work, and it makes it easier.

Thank you! Once this project is over I'll get back into my Fusion videos for sure. Going forward it'll be a mix between Fusion and projects. I like the concept of taking projects all the way through cad, cam, and cnc.

In most projects I use 1/4 2 flute upcut or downcut flat and ballnose endmills from CMT tools. I also have a few whiteside router bit endmills as well. I dont have a link right now but they are all available on Amazon. My V bits are typically Freud that I get from Woodcraft in Seattle. My 1/8 endmills are cheap Amazon ones that come in a pack. 1/8 and smaller bits I anticipate breaking them at some point so I tend to use cheap ones to save $$.
