Machining a Resettable Dial for a Myford Leadscrew Handwheel
Ғылым және технология
The standard Myford dial on the leadscrew handwheel is not resettable. In this video, we machine a resettable dial for a Myford lathe. We do this on the Myford lathe itself, a Dore Westbury milling machine and a Gravograph engraver.

Thank you very much! The reduced gap on 3.16 is to match the imperial to metric conversion, right?
Expertly accomplished. Thank you for sharing your idea and the way you went about it. Lovely engineering 👏👏👍😀
As a non-engineer, I find videos like this awe inspiring.
Excellent work, excellent narration and videography! Thank you for sharing
You guys, your level of production is just insane. Keep like this!!
Hi we are RDG TOOLS a Model Engineering tool company based in Mytholmroyd West Yorkshire. We sell new and used tools. We also own the Myford Lathes Brand. We took over Myford around 12 years ago. Both company's are in the same building and we are open to the public. We are still building new Myford lathes and refurbished Myford lathes.
Great video. This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you for sharing.
What a very professional video, Thank You, for taking your time to produce this. Beagles.
I appreciate your work, greetings from Indonesia
Very nice work on the part and video both. Thank you.
Very well done.
I realy liked your Video the only thing that irritated me where the gloves of the machinist because here in Germany ITS absolutely forbidden to wear gloves while working whith machines that are spinning or turning but for the Rest all I can say ist"nice job mate"
Nice work. We shared this video on our homemade tools forum this week 😎

@@chronovaengineering Great, you're all set up. I just sent you an email :)
How did you assemble the ring onto the hand wheel without balls and springs flying off around the workshop never to be seen again?
really good idea , very interested in drawings

What a pity you haven't gone into limited scale production, a very useful addition to an imperial myford.

Thanks for watching Andrew - it's something we would consider if there's enough interest.

Hello all at Chronova Engineering. Excellent video on the metric resettable hand wheel. Very well done Sir! I too have a Super7 awaiting full restoration (can't wait!) but I was interested in your pentagraphic engraving machine and wondered if you could present a video on that. Greetings from Southport.

Thanks Kevin. We will aim to put together a video on the engraver in the future. It's a very useful tool for the manual machine shop.
Nice work. I admire you for trepanning 316 stainless steel, that would be tough. I do not have a lead screw handwheell on my ML7 but would like one.I don't think many people would have access to a pantograph engraver.

Thank you Andy. 316 certainly wouldn't have been our first choice but it's all we had on hand that was the right size! For those who don't have a pantograph engraver, stamping will do the job, it just won't look as pretty.
Excellent project, but I would do a full metric conversion since metric leadscrews and gearboxes are also availeble for many myford models for very reasonable prices
What your saying is rite. The hack for this is....... buy a digital set of calipers. It reads both imp and metric
Great work, I am also interested in the drawings

Hi Ally, there’s a link to the drawings in the pinned comment. Hope that helps!
Metric measure is LIFE!!!
The optimal solution is to do it in imperial…
