    Before I get myself ser up with these rulers I have to tell you that I have a Husqvarna Diamond sewing machine. How will these work with it and do I have to have a special foot for it.

  • @Ernpats

    +June Fox Just as with any ruler work, you need to have a true ruler foot for your machine.

    This isn't a ruler question, but I just bought a George (thanks to your rave reviews!) and I have a machine question. At 4:10 into this video, it looks like you reach behind the machine for a second, almost like you would be raising a presser foot, yet there isn't one on George. Are you turning the handwheel to raise the foot a little? I ask because with my needle down, if I rotate my quilt, it is hard to move with the foot pressing down on it and sometimes my thread breaks with the next stitch.

    Yes, you are exactly correct. I was rotating the flywheel in order to raise the foot a but so that I could easily pivot the quilt.

    Hi Patsy, you do such beautiful work, so creative. what is the presser foot that you use? Can this be done on my home domestic sewing machine?

  • @Ernpats

    @Ernpats

    8 жыл бұрын

    +hthrkc Thank you! This can absolutely be done on your home sewing machine! You need a ruler foot to do it and Westalee makes a generic ruler foot that fits almost every sewing machine on the market. You just need to measure one area on your machine to figure out which shank of foot you need. Here's a link to them and a little diagram that shows you where to measure: www.patsythompsondesigns.com/shop/product/westalee-ruler-foor-home-sewing-machine/

    This is amazing!! Do you have a video to show sewing machine set up? Like feed dogs down, stitch length set at zero? Is this "free motion"

  • @Ernpats

    @Ernpats

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yes, it is a special type of free motion quilting where rulers guide the stitching. Feed dogs are down and stitch length is controlled by how fast you move the ruler/quilt "unit" and how fast you run the foot pedal, just like all free motion quilting.
